  1. Spending some more time in the editor and this... (though guessing it's a coding nightmare ) - For dual monitor, the ability to have one set up with the usual editor tools while the second has the 3D preview which updates as make additions. - Ability to insert reference photos onto the map at grid points (like landmarks), not for the player but just for the designer so they can quickly compare the scene their trying to set while they design a map. (Saves a lot of Alt-Tabing)
  2. Was a little while ago so maybe used the mortar smoke rounds in a previous mission. If the 81mm mortar is a carried over asset then yes very likely. Oh crap....
  3. Is this the 'Lock Bridge' Scenario? What smoke? 60mm mortars only have 20 HE rounds a piece. 81mm has some HE? Not seeing a lot of smoke rounds? Especially not for multiple missions. Four Attempts and four complete failures so far. As much covering fire as I can muster isn't enough to pin down the bunker nor the squads/HMG team in the buildings behind the canal.
  4. From memory 10 mins. Pretty sure I keep tabs on each sides support options in later parts. Memory is a bit hazy as I did record these early parts months ago. When Dutch and Strachwitz advertised they were going to attempt this I offered to record and watch as they went along, as I was curious how much you could push the engine and if the gameplay could hold up commanding this many forces on map at once. I half suspected CC would break down and it would turn into a shooting gallery mess. Glad to say it doesn't and I think that is largely down to the size of the map and the ability for both sides to spread out and maneuver. Goes to show how important terrain is in this game.
  5. Title says it all. A 3km plus sized map by Wyntergreen. Dutch Grenadier commands the Waffen SS formations while Strachwitz commands the mechanised American forces. Yours truly is the neutral observer, cameraman and commentator. Additional parts are sitting here ready to be uploaded in the near future. Subscribe for auto updates when additional videos go online. Cheers guys and enjoy.
  6. As usual, brilliant work with the halftracks. Can I submit a mod request still? Just playing some more of the 'Road to Nijmegan' campaign and noticed the 88mm Pak36 could use some love. Pretty please.
  7. More realistic building damage. - More a gameplay element then a graphical improvement but houses half/quarter collapsing based on the direction of the incoming fire rather than completely collapsing after a certain point would be a great addition especially for urban combat improvements. Modular buildings sort of touches on this but still feels a little off. Circular Roads - Or possibly a 30 degree and 60 degree angled road tiles in the editor. This could possibly help historical map makers better match the twists and turns of European roads. The limit to 45 degree intervals causes some problems in my (granted limited) experience. Fire - Enough said. I'm not in the camp of wanting a major graphical enhancement so CM can look like Crysis, but variety and options is one of it's biggest strengths as a wargame IMO. I hope the variety keeps improving as upgrades/modules/packs roll off the factory floor. These of course have graphics involved. *Cough* Terrain packs *Cough*
  8. I'm guessing the use of this feature in CM level engagements would be minimal, but yes would be an awesome concept to implement.
  9. Or allow it to 'reorganise' surviving troops at the platoon or company level between designated missions so some semblance of full squads still exist. Players can always break them down to teams themselves during the next battle if they wish. At the moment it's a real problem the longer a campaign runs because you get two man squads running around after a few battles while their buddies next door are at full strength. Purely luck of the draw for the pixeltruppen.
  10. Read the full scenario designer notes in the mission. I first discovered this action because of the game Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood, though that was a highly fictionalized take on the action. It was one of my favorite missions of the series. There is an AI plan for both sides and H2H should be fine as well. Playing as the Germans maybe a little easier as you have numbers on your side.
  11. Just submitted to the repository and should be available soon. This is a scenario I have been working on for the last six months or so. After testing and tweaking it's time to release it onto the masses. It is a semi-historical depiction of the 101st Airborne in action around the hamlet of Fournel on the evening of D-Day. Scenarios can't be designed without good feedback and testing. Many thanks to the following members of 'The Few Good Men' community for testing and providing feedback: - Bootie - Rambler - MtK The engagement is a good opportunity for an infantry based fight where there is little in the way of off map support. (Something which appears to becoming more prevalent with every scenario I seem to play!) Though some limited options are available for indirect fire missions, wining the scenario should be determined by troop movements and managing of reserve forces rather than a few well-placed artillery strikes. For the most enjoyment, I suggest playing as the Paratroopers first. The scenario was mostly designed under v2.01, though some final tweaks were completed under v2.12. Owning the base game should be sufficient enough to play. Hope you enjoy! Ithikial (The Few Good Men, YouTube), Ithikial_AU (Battlefront Forums). https://www.youtube.com/user/Ithikial/
  12. Off the top of my head. CMFI Sherman pack for the 'minor nations'? German Halftrack pack?
  13. Yeah yeah yeah. Have actually been working on content but have to hold back on release until the multiplayer match is done. Oh and ARMA 3 and XCOM have been a little distracting.
  14. You've got competition. (More the merrier ) I think PaperTiger was having a stab at a 12. SS Campaign. Meanwhile I'm still slugging it out with my Operation Windsor, Carpiquet series of missions between the 12. SS and the 3rd Canadian Infantry.
  15. Coming to this a little late but even without having any idea how Battlefront's Finance Books are looking I doubt CM is dying. (Okay purchasing that tropical island was probably a mistake...) It's a very small sample I know but if it's any indication I get quite a few PM's through my YouTube channel wanting to know where to find out more info on the game I'm playing. (And no I'm not asking for a finders fee ). Word of mouth is key for a product like this. It's also hard to argue against that each expansion, upgrade and (I assume) future pack, will flesh out each title that little bit more. That's a pretty strong selling point and strategy for keeping fans long term. As for user made scenarios, I agree the editor isn't hard to use but at the same time there's no denying it takes a hell of a long time to do 'right.' I've worked on a little company size engagement focusing on the 101st Airborne around Fournel on D-Day which I hope to release real soon after working out photoshop. But even for something this small it's taken on and off 6 months from start to finish. Subtle encouragement through an improved Repository for user made content that encourages more downloads could help more people get involved. The idea posted above about the inclusion of high quality map and scenario work in the next patch/upgrade for a game would also be a great reward system that costs essentially nothing if it's community driven. My two cents plus sales tax.
  16. Great work as usual with V3. Really loving it. I remember from before that CMFI doesn't interest you as much, but any chance of working your magic on that game as well?
  17. I remember posting about blizzards when GL first came out. For me, it was quite nauseating with white flecks racing across the screen while I'm trying to focus on what's 'behind' them such as infantry and tanks. When I buy a CM game yes I expect (and receive) a great simulation of a battlefield in the 1940's, but throwing up on my monitor and keyboard is probably going a step too far.
  18. Well documented but what the hell. Free French for both CMBN and CMFI Indian Divisions for CMFI Hobart's Funnies But still a big advocate for themed terrain map packs so we can create more diverse maps. Industrial, port, airfield terrain themes etc.
  19. Sorry not my work that in battle stuff or the Combat Recorder app that runs over the top of a game. I know Excel and statistics not how to program software.
  20. Yeah I think it can be off putting as well and make you take a step back and scratch your head. I feel the the vast majority troops used in CM engagements in the theaters covered by CMBN and CMFI would fit between the Green - Veteran brackets depending on the unit and it's history. The rankings of elite and crack should be used sparingly and only for individual teams/vehicles where appropriate. Perhaps you can fudge the experience level for a formation if its well documented that they fought 'exceptionally well/above expectations' in a particular engagement. As I dabble more and more into scenario design under the CMx2 engine, doing quality unit research not only during the engagement you're modelling but also covering the events leading up to the scenario itself is the key to getting this balance right. As an example, I'll use the Carpiquet project I'm slaving away at. (Slaving be the key word. ) I agree with the above poster about the 12SS HJ, first impulse is to dump the defending force under 'Crack' and be done with it but this wouldn't be historically right. Regular experience as they were trained but with no real combat experience going into the Normandy campaign, (though by 4th of July they had been fighting for a few weeks). I'd also add a smattering of Veterans representing the leadership elements brought over from 1st SS when the 12SS HJ was formed. Combined, I think this would be more accurate representation of experience levels. What makes this unit stand out and where misconceptions can come from is the high motivation levels. High motivation which can at times be more problematic for a player going up against an AI opponent. There would also be some fanatic level teams a part of this force who just don't know how to quit.
  21. Good to see the US Airborne Uniform issue will be fixed. The way it appears for me... Date: September 1944 Setting: Holland Standard - M42 Uniforms with 82nd Airborne insignia 82nd - M42 Uniforms with 82 Airborne insignia 101st - M43 Uniforms with 101st Airborne insignia
