  1. It'd be annoying to be playing and have someone keep on pausing the game on you though.
  2. The good: Realism and detail Doesn't hold your hand - it's brutal Editor The bad: Hard to get into - you have to really be in the right mood. No mp lobby AI is a bit limited in it's abilities - they're essentially movement orders and that's it.
  3. I think I remember BF saying that it's abstracted, lots of HMG's or some flak will make air support ... do .. something, memory isn't really clear at the moment. Anyone remember that or know where they said it?
  4. That's very subjective though, for some Call of Duty is realistic enough, for others the "ultimate realism" of CoD is too much. I personally like any feature that brings CM closer to a realistic depiction of combat and it's outcomes, the AAR of Operation Storm 333 was a classic example, the fact that he got so close to the real world outcome was incredible, you can be playing and think "yeah this is how it might have happened".
  5. Do you think you could upload to the official repo? I can't seem to download from GAJ's site anymore It keeps on refusing my username/password.
  6. Well I would but I'm still not familiar with the way things work in Normandy, my previous experiences were kamikaze Syrians or indestructible Americanos and I've found that the tactics required for those two don't match up very well with WW2
  7. I prefer RT, I'm probably just not used to WeGo but I can't "get" the flow or tempo of the battle.
  8. Yeah I agree, I've never liked cluttered info all over the screen and I certainly don't want the game to do the thinking for me. Maybe it's just me but I'd much rather go and check out the stats for the real vehicles.
  9. That is a massive improvement, thank you thank you thank you!
  10. At least it isn't like in Theatre of War, I still have no idea how you set up units in that
  11. I just did a test, 800m away was a Sherman unbuttoned, in the forest (completely open field in front of it) 1-2 trees deep and fairly open was an AT gun. The Sherman failed to notice 2 shots flying just over it's hatches, the guy on the top only realized something was up when a shell smacked into the ground a few meters from the front of the tank.
  12. It wouldn't be that hard surely, I mean it's just two AI instead of the one, sure wouldn't be the most riveting game of the century though
  13. Yeah you'd think C2 would have an effect.
  14. Well I assume that even though blind and just following programming the auto picker would still pick in much the same way as a human, it would certainly be much easier to program it that way.
  15. Yes they are all set up and ready to go, [multiple] AI plans, descriptions, preview images, type etc.
  16. I tried exporting those settings in Gimp but they show up black in the game
  17. I've got a single layer with the grain on it and four channels: red, green, blue and alpha. I tried saving out as 16, 24 and 32 bit images using a variety of settings but didn't have any luck. Edit: Found it, I don't know how I missed that, I must have tried every single setting but the correct one Correct settings for exporting transparent images in Gimp for CM: One layer - "32 bits A8 R8 G8 B8" (under "advanced") Edit2: Ok now I'm not sure that's working, textures seem very washed out and dark now ...
  18. That is quite ridiculous, SAW, M32's and AT infantry are much more important than a rifleman, it would make much more sense for the guys with assault rifles only to do buddy aid and all that while the SAWs and whatnot provide cover.
  19. Had a game the other night and the AI only had infantry left, I had a Stug that was pretty worried because he was about the only functional unit left, they nearly caused a bail/withdraw by firing small arms at it, I had to cancel 2-3 reverse orders and only just sent some HE rounds downrange in time.
  20. What do I need to do to modify transparent textures, with alpha channels? Whenever I save out the .bmp and start up BN the textures are not displaying any transparency at all, depending on how I save out the .bmp the textures are either texture+white background or totally black. So far my grain mod isn't looking very nice - I should also mention that I use GIMP.
