  1. That's terrific news, I appreciate the response. Its kinda odd how, i assume, 1.30 effected the marines module though. Any ideas why?
  2. It seems ever since the 1.30 patch the rank section has been missing from some units. Two in particular stand out, first the Canadian infantry squad leaders from the campaign do not have any rank whatsoever. Whenever they get killed their 2ic takes control and his rank shows. Anybody else notice this? I also noticed that the Marine team leaders when you split the squads don't show any rank either in the rank box, but when the team leader is incapacitated the next marines rank, usually a PVT, shows up. Is this just me or has anyone else noticed this?
  3. Absolutely loved this mission. Very much like the original its based off of, but seeing my troops charge across the open field under heavy fire while the supporting forces are giving buddy aid to their fallen comrades was probably one of my favorite moments throughout the entire CMx2 series. Casualties don't really matter I find since all you have to do is kill all of the enemy, an easy feat with two full companies. Overall, a brilliant little scenario to watch, but a very simple play.
  4. I've noticed this on your maps and I love that you did this. Balconies were always just a death trap, but it made it easier to chase and kill OPFOR withing the urban maps. I've also noticed that the insurgents tend to run away quicker than they did previously on urban maps. Is this a new feature in 1.30?
  5. I have also noticed a few problems with the Canadian forces, but none which haven't been previously mentioned. I'm on the 4th mission playing WeGo on Iron difficulty and it is probably my favorite campaign in the module. I didn't think I'd be playing much with the Canadians, but they are a refreshing change of pace. The first mission seemed almost like a CMx1 flashback with modern weapons. I love good infantry battles, and this is one that I could replay over and over again. I only wish the engineers had demo charges, it'd make the second mission much easier.
  6. Another little bug I just noticed was the dutch fennek sometimes has a rolled up german flecktarn cloth item attatched to the back of the vehicle.
  7. There doesn't seem to be any rank insignia for the squad leaders of the canadian light infanty in the first campaign mission. Is this a real life thing or a bug?
  8. I just bought CM:A and I've gotta say I'm loving the new game. The biggest problem I have with it is the ridiculously small squad sizes for the Soviets. Five men in a squad? Really? It seems like as soon as my guys take like one casualty they're combat ineffective. Does anyone have any pointers when using these guys?
  9. You definitely got me there. I've just played the demo, but the Shilka is definitely one of my new favorite toys. The sheer amount of firepower is enough to make a grown man cry. I usually don't play as red, but something tells me that I'll be playing them a bit more with that bestower of lead
  10. Haha, thats why I'm not a big fan of RT. In my opinion there's too much to do and unless you pause every 10 seconds, not enough time to do it. But on to the subject at hand Having never played that scenario before, or atleast not that I remember I'm not familiar with the troop strength or size of the map. In my limited experience of RT play I tend to issue orders one platoon at a time then zoom out to see if any of my units are in trouble. Perhaps if you slowed the pace of your play down aswell you'd get alittle more enjoyment out of this particular scenario. Sorry if that didn't really answer any of your questions but perhaps it might have helped a little bit.
  11. Hey womble, you need to add that to your sig
  12. Alright, thats great to hear. Just wanted to point that out incase it hadn't been updated.
  13. Just want to bring it to BF's administration that there's been a flaw in the security of vBulletin forums. Check this out http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10714192 Perhaps this was fixed after the last hacker, but I just wanted to make sure there were no vulnerabilities to the forum.
  14. Is that an official statement? In what ways? I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing now.
  15. You have to remember that the Blue forces have a ton of IR and other spotting devices. I don't remember that map, but if there's a second row of houses in the town, set up your troops there. Setting up your forces on the outskirts with an open field is pretty much suicide, Blue forces own the open. Try to draw the enemy into the town where their superior technology can't be used as effectively. Hope this helps a bit.
  16. I agree, I'd love to see some more reactive AI. But that would require a major change in the game that definitely won't take place in a module. The only hope i have is there will be a bit of an overhaul in Normandy, but I'm not holding my breath too much there either :/
  17. I'd have to agree with you there mate. I can't even remember the last time i saw a GPMG in a scenario to be honest. I understand battelfront not wanting to deviate from the standard To&E, I just wish that more mission designers would give the player more of the nasty buggers. Speaking of mission designers, how about creating a few new british battles for me to play, huh?
  18. Perhaps, but no leader wants to lose his men in combat. Whether its 1 or 100, taking casualties sucks. But if there's a job that needs to be done, the officers will do everything in their power to accomplish the mission, regardless of the cost.
  19. Very true. From what I'm played it seems the Syrians put up a much tougher fight than the Iraqi's did. It just really bothers me when scenario designers make it so the Blue player can't take more than a handful of casualties. What wears a populace down is the extended bleeding out of its forces, commonly found in COIN ops not the invasion of a country that had, according to the manual, launched biological attacks against many western countries. I think the patriotic fervour would demand the toppling of a country or two, nomatter the price.
  20. In my experience, that would definitely be a major defeat. 89 casualties??? Granted, it was a 6 day long operation, but if I had taken that many casualties in a scenario you be certain that a major defeat would be handed out.
  21. Perhaps you underestimate the will of the coalition forces (well the UK and US) to take large numbers of casualties. True, we have come a very long way from the thousands of casualties taken in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, but you have to remember that CMSF mostly models the initial invasion of Syria. I can not recall exact numbers, but something like 150 US service personel died before the fall of Baghdad. That doesn't include the seriously injured, as modeled as incapacitated in SF. I agree that Blue forces should be limited in the amount of casualties taken, but the notion of being punished by only taking 5 casualties throughout an engagement is slightly ludicrous.
  22. Ok, pardon the ignorance. I've just been reading the posible formation thread http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=88622 and it seems like I may have been a bit too critical. That sure seems like a hell of a lot of formations to create and tweak for just ONE army. I guess I'm just sore that UK and SS forces aren't in the initial release. Well, that coupled with the long delay of the base game is making me a tad bit frustrated :/
  23. That's exactly what I'm saying. And sure, there were quite a few gaps in BO's TO&E, but the sheer variety and the feeling of something different made the game for me. How many times have we slogged through a game as the americans in Normandy? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited as hell for CM:N, I just wish that we will be given more with the first released as opposed to being strung out with the release of all of the modules.
  24. I love the work BF does on the Combat Mission series, but I can't help but feel a tad bit ripped off. I mean having to pay $35 dollars for something that, to me atleast, should be pretty much standard in a WW2 title. Especially considering that BO shipped with pretty much every unit that fought in the Normandy campaign.
  25. I was looking at a review of shock force online, when I noticed a screen of what looks like a US Army mortar. Is there something I missed, because this picture looks like the real deal. Check it out http://www.armchairempire.com/images/Reviews/pc/combat-mission-shock-force/combat-mission-shock-force-2.jpg
