I played the Stem The Tide Scenario against Gavin.  We played double-blind and both did Video AARs

I do love getting to watch a game recap from the opposite point of view.

You can see it all here.

    Gavins AAR

    Chaps AAR

100% agree.  I played a couple of CMx1 games against the AI (~20 years ago), but started playing humans and never played another AI game.  Tried to play CMx2 against AI and only made it through about 10 turns.

As someone with off-road driving experience in 4-wheel drive vehicles and motorcycles, IMO driving over any unmodified terrain involves an element of risk. Dry grass and dirt tiles should not be treated essentially the same as roads, which they were prior to the bogging changes mentioned above. Given the lack of real world data, reasonable people can disagree on how much difference, but the bottom line from my point of view is that roads are not there to be used only when it rains.

I dont agree with you assessment of "flat very dry grass" being something a vehicle can safely fly over.  Flat unmanicured grass land is not fit for driving cards on.  Hell i've been on gravel roads that I had to drive less than 10 miles per hour on because I didnt want to destroy my vehicle.

The first post to this thread was sept 2020.  Did anything ever get tried (dont have time to read through all 4 pages right now)?

I have always wanted to be involved with something like this, and my current thinking is 3 teams of 3 or 4 people.  Where one teams is the umpire.  short campaign (get done in 6-9 months) and then a different team umpires. 9 to 12 dedicated people that expect to play together for a couple of years is definitely doable. (I've been involved in forum based board games that have lasted multiple years with the same small group of people.  So I think keeping it small and keeping the umpire work load distributed is the key.)

my understanding of CM grass terrain is bumpy fields, not like a park.  Have you ever driven a vehicle off road -  through a cow pasture or such?  If you drive fast you will destroy a vehicle in no time.

Lmfao I just tested this with tanks on top of Monte Cassino, and the javelins went straight into the mountain about 1-200m height and disappeared.
They impacted the ground, but from the inside of the mountain.

dkchapuis got a reaction from Arjuna.R in On average what is your ratio of whole squads to split squads?
I just did a quick test about this:

6 full US squads vs 12 US half squads with same soft stats and same cover.   The split squads were in adjacent action squares, so no advantage from spacing.  Each squad vs half squad was partitioned, so units could only exchange fire with units directly in front. At the end of 1 minute of exchanging fire:
6 of the 12 half squads were pinned. 13 casualties
0 of the 6 full squads were pinned.  10 casualties.

From this 1 min test, it seems to me the main advantage of splitting squads is spacing and multiple order options.

I’m talking about multi player for more than 1 v 1.   Like 2v2 or 3v3. I think BFC called it multi multi player or co play.
