  1. I think you might have just been unlucky. I killed a couple of T-90's with 155mm precision fire in a QB tonight. V 1.01. Stryker Cav vs. heavy Russian stuff is fun.
  2. The US uses the AT-4, which is a single shot version of the Gustav.
  3. Ah, that is "eye black". It cuts down on glare, or so the theory goes.
  4. From my personal experience, I think calling it "propaganda" is a bit much. You just learn to know the difference between what is important and what is not. What makes you want to use the term "propaganda" anyway? Also, your first question, the part about "for absolutely nothing" is an opinion not a statement of fact. I would think such a statement would be rather insulting to most guys who got involved. All that political crap is for Generals and politicians. My $.02
  5. I wonder what happens if you pre-order between the other pre-orders getting the go sign and the time when they update the site to let we slackers at it? Hopefully you get to find out soon.
  6. +1 to the whine-o-meter going off the charts. I already upped my stock of popcorn to get ready. I do not post often, but always am lurking. The things some people say......
  7. This. I was taught by our master gunner to pull the trigger immediatley after getting a good return on a lase. Lasing was my last step in the process before "on the way!" IIRC the book says to have a good range before you announce "identified." But to speed the process up I would tell the TC "identified" as soon as I had the target aquired. So "lase and blaze" was how we did it. I would not think the target could react in time to save itself from a tank gun shot. Especially a sabot round.
  8. More truth. As much as we would whine about the bad stuff there was noting like the feeling of "On The Wayyyyyyy!"
  9. Ha, quoted for truth. They certainly do not show you the part about trying to disconnect the damn saddle bolts for the pack at 3am in -20 degree weather. Or the part where you give yourself a hernia trying to help get the track you just threw right side up. Or the part.... You get the idea. I was an enlisted armor crewman so the mileage may vary from the officer types. But I would say for every hour of "this is awesome" there was 10 hours of "this sucks". LOL
  10. Pnzrldr is an officer.... So he probably has less experience actually using the things. "I just ride 'em, I don't know what makes them work." LOL J/K <wink>
  11. V-pack is the nickname for the M1's engine air filters. There are three of them in a row on the left front part of the engine deck. They are V shaped, hence the nickname. When they get clogged, engine performance degrades very rapidly. So a warning light on them needs to be addressed asap. On a lighter side, if they fixed it in 10 minutes that would indicate they had replacements to put in. Its been a few years for me, but we had this worthless wand we would hook to the exhaust to clean the V-packs. It could take a long time using those to clean them. When I was in training, I got to push Fort Knox a little bit lower for telling my instructors that the wand was stupid. Ha.
  12. No worries my friend. Power 6 = The Battalion CO Power 66 = The Old Man's ride. :-). (Ok, the bumper number would be HQ66, but you get my drift. Lol)
  13. Power 6 would be the callsign of the battalion commander. So he is referring to the choices the American Task Force commander has to make.
  14. (Swoop in from lurkerland) Will CMBS have any representation of CB fire in it? I am sure most of us realize modern CB capabilities are rather impressive. Would be nice to see in game. Looking forward to this one, thanks BFC! (Egress back to lurkerland)
  15. Got it. I also get the reason for not allowing it in game. I don't like it, I want to see which of my pixeltroopies get nominated for medals and whatnot... But I will be more than happy to deal with it. Thanks!
  16. Got it. Only after the battle. OK, Thanks!
  17. You know, back in CMx1 days where you could see a units "kill" stats, etc... Did we get that back? I want to say we did. Trouble is, after looking through the manual (and its a BIG deal for a tanker to RTFM) I can't find it. Help?
  18. <wipes tear from eye> So much win. Back to lurking! (and mercilessly beating my refresh money into form)
  19. Been there, done that. What a mess. "Hey sarge, can I drive through that wire over there?" Me - "NOOOOOO!!!!!!" Too late. LOL
  20. And their Marines are TALL. But also do not like being in a M1A1 when the main gun is fired. That dude rapidly exited the tank after the first round.
  21. Thanks. Makes sense. It is true that if we saw the Sergeant Major while in the field, we were usually in trouble.
  22. Thanks for the scoop. Knowing this, it is safe to assume that the 'other guy' in a Battalion XO team is the Sergeant Major? I think it is going to be tough to work the E-8/E-9's into a scenario and have them be of real value or purpose in the game. Hmmmm....
  23. Palmyra/Tadmur... Parachute assault followed by an air delivered Stryker brigade. Temple of Bel being a map and an objective. I wrote the background info with a Company 1st Sergeant being the 'character'. Perhaps I should have looked before I leaped? LOL --- I am still learning the editor. Making test scenarios, trying to figure out the AI editor, etc... And the MAPS. Oy Vey. Does BFC got your back if messing around with this thing causes divorce?
  24. Ouch... I know I am a noob. But not even a "hey, look in ,<thread>, cruit!".
