  1. Never uploaded a save game file- though I have it. Here are a couple of pix:
  2. Just fired up this puppy. I thought that the Rhino tanks clearing bocage in reverse bug had been fixed in 1.01. Apparently not.
  3. I hope it does. The game provides a great deal of flexibility in this regard and that's great, but feeling compelled to split every squad in the interest of efficiency creates a lot of micro-management in larger scenarios. This mystery could use some elaboration.
  4. The artefact. 'Migraine producing' maybe an overstatement but it's distracting. Surely a buglette that BFC will address in the future.
  5. It bothers me enough that I don't fire up this otherwise promising looking scenario. It's migraine producing. No problem with my ATI powered laptop- which has regrettably proved a bit laggy with CMBN. Could be an Nvidia thing?
  6. From Wikipedia: In the United States Army and Marine Corps, for example, there are XO billets in each company, battalion, and brigade, though not at higher levels of command. The XO billet is not a command; rather it is considered staff. The XO is typically responsible for the management of day-to-day activities, such as maintenance and logistics, freeing the unit commander to concentrate on tactical planning and execution. The XO also takes charge in the absence of the CO. While the experience gained as an XO is highly beneficial for an officer's professional development, never serving in the position will not preclude an officer from commanding later.
  7. Thanks for the useful input, guys! Not. Hmm.... This could the first warning volley that the Nvidia card is taking on water. Funny, that there's no indication of anything awry in my other programs.
  8. Apropos of trees, does anyone know if the the Battle of the Huertgen Forest will be in the Market Garden module? Or the Bulge game. Both operations began in Sept, iirc, but the Huertgen battles spilled into 1945.
  9. No, it doesn't. Immobilized vehicles can still fire and spot. Someone should start a thread enumerating the remaining bugs and/or easy fixes. Maybe here?
  10. I checked. You're right. But the invisible door in the wall issue still stands.
  11. Buildings are a mess in CMBN. And I'm not dredging up the old cover/concealment debate. The problems seem most intractable when two or more structures are joined at the hip. Here's a screenshot from Field Marshal Blücher's new campaign. It shows a warehouse with no apparent firing ports on any floor. Yet squads can shoot out from the first floor while fire is completely blocked on the 2nd. Why? There's no visual clue to aid the player. A squad exiting the same warehouse via some invisible crease in the adjoining walls: Really, the unpredictability of structures renders the game unplayable at times. They don't appear to conform to any WYSIWYG standard.
  12. In spite of all controversy regarding the alleged under-effectiveness of MG teams and Snipers I find that, consulting the end of battle stats, these units tend to rack up impressive # of kills. A dozen by the marksman in Operation Eisenbahn, for example. Then there was this battle (Pouppeville?), played in RT, which I halted after 15 minutes with a Tactical victory. The unit was Elite, but frankly these numbers seem implausible: Total casualties for the Germs was about 80. Is experience over-valued? EDIT: The image is clipped. Enemy Casualties by that single squad should read 49.
  13. But some of us were enjoying the dueling Bits show.
  14. Don't know about that. Low bocage, as depicted in the game, is nearly as wide as it is tall.
  15. That's for sure. Or rather there aren't enough surrenders in volume. Usually it's one or two guys. I picture a platoon of Shermans pulling up to a shredded Conscript platoon huddling in a trench and bagging a couple of dozen POWs. Not happening yet though four troopers did surrender to my Crack Airborne squad today. That's a record.
  16. I think many of Holien's suggestions underestimate a lot of the complexity involved in programming a TacAI. For example an AT gun may be carrying a dozen HE shells, does he think they exclusively there for self-defence? It's not that simple. Some are subject to simple solutions. For example endowing your FO or HQ with a short Cover Arc.
  17. You're certain to get your wish! Expect the next module to feature city flattening, less bocage, more armour on armour encounters and general hellish carnage. Oh yeah. And Kangaroos.
  18. I'm not counting on it. 1.02 is sizing up to be the Mac patch.
  19. I read somewhere that BFC will be incorporating, just for fun, an audio challenge in the next module. If the user fails to pronounce 'Gebirgsjaegers' correctly the relevant files auto-delete. You get one shot. Also, there will be two scenarios that you can bank on: 'Villers-Bocage' and 'Michael Wittmann ascends to Valhalla'.
  20. Yes, think British, Canadians, Poles and Michael Wittman. All you need to know.
  21. Just curious, are you a Brit? You don't have to answer.
  22. What don't you make a test? You could put one together in ten minutes. I think YankeeDog's explanation is the most plausible. It was their jittery morale.
  23. Just witnessed a single Stummel, emerging from the rear of a house, come up behind an AT gun facing the opposite direction. The gun followed by the crew were destroyed in successive blasts of HE. 200 or so from meters. The German vehicle was Regular with good morale. Steiner's Stummel (hehe) an outlier?
  24. I get it as well, with an Nvidia card. But not too often.
