  1. Like my favorite: gridded terrain, indispensable, imo. In Sicily/Italy we'll probably need a gridded dirt variant.
  2. Low noise signature and NOT cutting the engine? How is that possible? Is the crew whispering?
  3. Er, sorry to play the linguistic pedant card, but shouldn't that be 'Le' Grand Hameau?
  4. I hope that BF will address the apparent unbalance between Dead and Wounded soldiers which *appears* to overplay the former. Not a critical issue to be sure, except in the realm of immersion, and likely difficult to fix (if indeed it needs fixing) with the existing engine particularly given the Medic routine.
  5. It's true for this American. But the battles in the from '44 on have remained more iconic in the collective imagination and have inspired more books and films. D-Day and the Bulge make for better box office than Kasserine Pass and Anzio. Sorry, that's just reality.
  6. Early war= absence of Americans. The biggest market for wargames.
  7. Here's a conjecture: 1- CMFI 2- CMFI Commonwealth 3- To the Gothic Line and Beyond 4- Tunisia
  8. The most durable controversy: MGs and their proper lethality have constituted an ongoing debate since CMBO. And they use to 'jam' until the advent of CM2. According to some, they haven't tracked the more refined modelling of artillery we've arrived at now.
  9. Yes, it seems that attacking with infantry will prove a challenge for the Allies in FI. Naval fire save their butts several times, e.g., Gela. My issue with the bocage is it's so damn intricate; getting lines of fire, scouting, searching for gaps, etc. It's got to be a difficult theater to simulate but BF did a bang up job, imo. A universe away from CMBO.
  10. Not seeing much cover in these screenies. Tricky to advance w/infantry. Lots of hull down possibilities, however.
  11. Ha, ha. Very British. Shades of Michael Caine in Zulu.
  12. Then why is the Hide command available for AFVs? Impromptu camouflage? Also I edited my post to wonder about reduced turret speed in Tanks w/no motor running. If indeed that's the case. It's a puzzle wrapped inside a conundrum.
  13. Even when they're Hiding the dialogue shows that some members 'peek'. In CM1 they would, given decent troop quality, spring to life when the Cover Arc was breached hiding or not. This has changed. You can Hide a unit and still preform an ambush in CM2 provided they can still get LOS to the approaching enemy. Which is possible, for example, when looking down slope or through light cover on flat ground. Low Walls don't work. But even having a non-hiding unit like a HQ nearby doesn't help- and it should, I think. On balance I prefer the earlier routine but maybe BF had good reasons to modify it. More minor anomalies come in to play when Armor Hides. One assumes the driver cut the engine to eliminate the sound signature. Shouldn't there be a penalty in reduced turret speed when in this state, as well as a brief delay when firing back up? Or are talking frivolous details?
  14. Two words: Chess Clock (For CMBN 3.0. Not that I'd ever play RT over the net)
  15. No, no. You misconstrued the the statement, John. When I said: tell me it's not true, I meant that you were once 'in a restaurant'.
  16. Indeed. And reminiscent of the scene at the beginning of Terminator 2 when it appeared that the Cyborg/Schwarznegger was actually going to execute Sarah Connor in that, uh, room.... But he didn't.
  17. Stalin: 'Quantity has a quality all its own.' Edit: Unless you were channeling Madonna?
  18. Wait, I just remembered. There will be a DEMO! O/T There's a rumor going around that, on a restaurant bet, you reconstructed 'Closing the Pocket' on a table napkin tile for tile. Please tell us it's not true.
  19. Sure, within the industry. During the heyday of the Ratpack Frank and Dean referred too each other as 'wops'. Much hilarity ensued. But if you're non-Italian and called them that you'd find a couple of Sinatra's goons at your front door the next day. Or the blue-haired ladies at brunch referring to themselves as 'girls. Don't try that either.
  20. That was a great feature of the CM1 series! God, do I miss it. Tiger here, Tiger there. Except that it a got a repetitive and cheesy after a while.
  21. A bit insensitive, Mord. You surprised me. 'Walker' departed from the lexicon a long time ago. Along with 'Oriental'. Now it's a Mobility Portable Rolling Device (google it). Using 'walker' gets you fired from MSNBC. And to be honest, I reviewed some of Emry's 18,000 posts recently and there's an unmistakable vein of subversiveness running though them. So I stand, er, sit corrected.
  22. Now even the establishment, the country club Republicans of the forum, come out in favor of SOPs. I give up. BF do your worst. Even if the reconfiguration of the interface consumes your every waking hour and no new game or module sees the light of day until 2017. Let's have orders nested within orders like Matryoshka dolls!
