  1. thanks a lot for all your response. Spend the weekend away from the computer and look what happens, answers and recomendations galore. Cheers
  2. Im looking for a few words of advice on whether or not to purchase CM:SF. The biggest thing holding me back is that I purchased TOW when it came out. It was great fun at first, then once the missions/campaigns were finished it became very, very dull. I am not a fan of the scripting in TOW which makes it predictable and boring. I understand that CM:SF has some type of coding that gives the AI several options of attack/defense based on the players moves? I have played the demo... its ok, but doesnt give too much away... guess that why its called a demo. I guess what Im wanting to know is... does this game have good replayability, is the map/scenario editor easy to use (ie. do you need to be a code geek to use it effectively) and lastly, is the whole game based around a U.S. ass whopping of the Syrians. Thanks in advance for any intelligent advice.
  3. Have you looked at the number posts in this here forum lately. Its not even one page in the last ten days.Plus only 3 threads had posts today when i checked. I think this game is dying as we speak. </font>
  4. i have had this problem on similar missions also... on most of them it just takes patience to comb the map for the remaining stragglers, very frustrating though. Richtschuetze, I had the same problem as you on that campaign, I couldnt find a breathing german anywhere on the map, my positions also got overrun at some stage, so I put it down to one of the victory conditions not being met. I can only guess its some kind of 'bug' in the scripting ie. not written or tested correctly
  5. As it is the Bastion of all strategy games... I feel there should be a paper, scissors, rock module.
  6. balls, balls, balls... what a pile of dribble.
  7. Ha ha! that Shadow RST-V Reconnaissance Surveillance Targeting Vehicle looks a bit like the batmobile from Batman Begins
  8. running CMSF natively would be awesome... I couldnt think of anything better than staying the hell away from 32bit windoze As it is though, it runs VERY well on my 2GHZ C2D iMac undoer XP SP2 Would a game such as CMSF take advantage of a 64bit OS?
  9. I couldn't agree with you more Gdog, however, there's nothing wrong with being patriotic and loving your country, providing it doesn't get in the way of common sense of course.
  10. There could quite possibly be a family of these little primates If Im correct then Assmonkey would be the North American cousin to the English Arsemonkey, not forgetting of course their close, but often forgotten relation Buttmonkey. According to the Pinnacle of all Knowledge (urban dictionary) An Assmonkey is described as the following 4.Small monkey like creatures the size of leprichauns who crawl around your ass while your asleep. ass monkeys usually wedgie guys in tighty whites or chicks wearing g's or thongs. Assmonkeys are also the reason lint appears in your ass. If you capture an ass monkey it will play poker with you.
  11. Righto, well  to that then.
  12. JEBUS!!!!! Stay away for a day and you miss a bit around here! This thread went AWOL BUTT$LANG has been goaded to the point of jumping someones mum and sister... while someones mum named Arsemonkey is watching!? Holy crap, this is getting weird  Didnt this thread get started by someone not using the correct smiley etiquette?
  13. Right, this should be interesting... What the **** are you lot on about!? having just wasted 20 minutes of my life reading through and attempting to understand what in the hell you are all dribbling on about, I have come to the conclusion that... I have no conclusion. I have a feeling though, that I have just stepped over some sort of invisible line of sanity and thrown myself to the lions with a piece of steak wrapped neatly around my neck. Well then... what the hell is this all about?
  14. This just gets better and better! quick! keep poking him... see what else he comes up with, I love this guy I gotta admit, you got me there. I live in New Zealand... we had to close our airforce cause our ageing wing of Skyhawks cost too much to maintain our navy consists of 3 or 4 frigates, our population is 4,000,000 so you can imagine what the size of our army might be, our armour consists of 10 or so newly purchased strykers... thats about it Our SAS on the other hand are pwny trainers But guess what!? theres no one out there that actually wants to blow the **** out of us As for the US being the greatest country on earth. I dont want to offend anyone else from North America, so Ill say this. You are an Ostrich. Pronunciation: os·trich - [aw-strich, os-trich] noun: A person who attempts to ignore unpleasant facts or situations. [ July 30, 2007, 03:35 PM: Message edited by: R33GZ ]
  15. Id like to know the answer to this question too. I didnt realise there was no syrian campaign in the full version of the game. I havent purchased yet, just downloaded the demo... Is it true then? US campaign only!? Im from NZ... so playing as an underdog is bred into me
  16. Hi slbm, I have had something similar to what you describe on several occassions, usually it is from vehicles entering the fray from off map positions. I havent played the polish campaign yet, so I could be wrong, but everytime Ive encountered that it has been what I mentioned above, or occassionally AT guns that havent been spotted yet. If it is the later, if you look closely, you should be able to see smoke/mussle flash coming from the gun positions. hope that helps
  17. Ha ha ha ha!!!!!11one! That was freakin hilarious! You got pwned B00M$LANG laugh guffaw chortle
  18. This is very frustrating.... its Friday here in New Zealand... the God Dmaned 27th!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I cant download till monday when I get back to work  God damned date line messing with my otherwise meticulously planned weekend!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Although its not a pc... my rig sounds similar to what MrSpkr is after. iMac 17" 2.0 ghz C2D 128mb ATI X1600 2GB RAM Windoze XP Professional SP2 The above setup runs ToW perfectly fine @ 1440x900... Im betting that CM:SF will run fine too Is it the nVidia GeForce Go 7600 graphics card that would hold its performance back? whats the difference? sorry if this is stupid question... Im not too well versed on what cards are better than others
  20. Well... I never used the tutorial when I purchased CMBO... I played the demo until I go the hang of it then purchased the full version... after a couple of completely arse about face missions, you inevitably learn from your mistakes. I have experienced the same with ToW too... although that has been shelved for now due to becoming a bit tiresome. In short.... manuals are for pussy's (no doubt I will be eating my words once I start playing CMSF ) Not to say that I dont want one though, they're good to have a flick through
  21. hmmmm.... my 2ghz C2D iMac scored a 1,119 but my work machine, a 2.66ghz quad core Mac pro scored a tasty 3172 You reckon these scores are a bit of a have? ToW runs perfectly fine on max settings... Im betting that CM:SF will run fine too. Would love to give the MacPro a run though
  22. he he sounds like the AI is in the exact same position I was in when I rounded up all my vehicle crews and made them scavenge for weapons. Best of luck with that one... sounds like a tough fight
  23. Hi renaud, I havent played this mission as the ruski's, I have played the german side of this mission though. Is there no way you can pull a flanking manouvere... a type of pincer movement and squeeze the litle buggers out of their hide? For what its worth, the German misssion was nigh impossiible too... I ended up with a faux victory, I had to arm all my tankers with SMG weapons from fallen ruski's and storm the town at the end of the map. Is the ridge you refer to the near the road at the end of the map near the german starting position?
  24. from memory, when I played the Allies campaign, the setup was reversed to that of the German campaign... ie. the allies campaign was positioned correctly and the German campaign was positioned incorrectly. This got quite confusing as in the German campaign I had all my units facing the wrong direction... they all got shot up the ass and knocked out rather quickly, DOH! [EDIT] has anyone here played the CMBO version of Villers Bocage? a lot tougher than this campaign... still fun though
  25. Hi Gurra, Im an old school CM'er and Ive purchased the full version of TOW. Ive been playing it for about a month now. I like TOW, it DEFINATLEY has a list of problems to be solved, but inspite of the frustrations I still like it, and like you say... I keep coming back for more Having said that, I wouldnt buy it expecting to get the same enjoyment you have had out of the CM series... it is not Combat Mission, it is Theatre of War. If you want next gen CM then my opinion would be that you wait for CMSF. If you are going to buy this game, then make the purchase knowing that you are getting something different... thats my 2 cents I guess. Cheers
