  1. not sure, my version is 1.3 and that is with the battle for moscow addon, it was my understanding that is the current version. I guess yours is the most up to date version.... is it English or German?
  2. That is an outstanding idea slaphappy... that really would take TOW to the next level. It would definitely make assaults more enjoyable. I think that at the moment there is a bit too much micro managing to really enjoy cinematic aspects of TOW Is writing code of this sort something you think a modder could create? or something that would have to be given in an update... perhaps even a new version... TOW2... geez that that could be 2011 before we see something like that Top idea anyway, I can definitely see that being implemented at some stage
  3. Hi Stoppelhopser, yep, this one took me a while too, not to mention a large dose of patience. Your elite para troopers are pretty much doomed, the only suggestion I can give you as far as placement for these fellas goes, would be to position your Panzerschreck's behind the last brick wall that surrounds the farmhouse on the left, lay them prone and hug that wall, this will give you maybe a 50% chance of at least disabling one tank. for your panthers and tigers, I usually hide them behind the ridge line of the trenches on your left. From here they can hit enemy tanks close to their starting positions and are protected from anything lower down in the valley. Cant quite remember, but I think I might have 'purchased' myself an extra AT gun at the start of this mission too - it definitely came in handy. The pak38's that you receive as reinforcements I rush 2 to sit on the plateau just behind the trenches on your left and face them towards your right flank, these 2 are quite effective at dealing out good defense to the attack on your right flank, the remaining pak38 I rush forward and sit him behind a small ridge line, also set him up facing your right flank. I also send an SPG to sit up close with him - these 2 are capable of dealing out some devastating point blank fire at the shermans coming over the hill on your right flank. Your only hope for the m36's that come at you in the last attack wave are really your tiger, panther and any remaining tanks that may have survived the previous onslaught . There are loads of ridges to hide the hull of your tanks behind, leaving only the turret exposed - this is your biggest advantage. I know this must all be quite hard to visualise without any pics to show you specifically what Im talking about, unfortunately Im at work, dont have internet at home and have no idea how to post images in the forums :-( Anyway, good luck... give thos e bloody yanks a pasting! 4. enterable buildings are planned for the new patch - and currently in testing as far as I understand. Infantry do play a smaller role in this game, but I believe when the next patch comes out we see a bi of a shift. like it you will... buy it you must
  5. agreed too, I have found it quite easy to use, although I think what fscott55 was saying is that it would be even better still if it was complete free look without having to use the middle mouse button... he's got a point
  6. ahhh yes, the Dunkirk mission... brought me to tears it did the secret to that mission is using one of your little pixel truppen to act as a spotter on/near the intersection on the left hand side of the first ridge... Ill say no more, woudlnt want to spoil it for you Good to hear your enjoying the game Stoppelhopser, it can get frustating... I still curse the gods of war for allowing my well laid plans to turn to custard in the face of the enemy Anyway... good luck and happy hunting
  7. You should only be able to select single cpu if you have a dual core? 2 cores on the one chipset?
  8. Excellent, so when can I get my grubby little hands on them then? rhetoric question
  9. Ha ha ha!!! LOL! That would be classic if the British Campaign started up with that number in the background! Its a bit Dads Army though isnt it? [ October 31, 2007, 01:44 PM: Message edited by: R33GZ ]
  10. Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" could be one for the US quite popular with the public and servicemen alike... probably wasnt used as a marching song though. Give it a listen, its definitely from the period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boogie_Woogie_Bugle_Boy
  11. 'Its a long way to Tipperary' would be a classic one for the British Army. First created in WW1 I think, but carried its way through to WW2. Definitely the most common of the all the British marching tunes anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It's_a_Long_Way_to_Tipperary
  12. bugger, no tigers aye? are there panthers? I guess that will go a long way to evening the odds
  13. PAUSE PAUSE PAUSE and HOLD HOLD HOLD Cant say much else, other than egon mentioned, get down to eye level and really suss out the terrain and firing lines from there, although if you have the new patched version, I imagine the LOS tool will greatly help your ability to see any obstructions. As far as having the Panzer Lehr campaign goes.... you lucky little bugger!
  14. good news, I sure as hell am looking forward to a romp around france in my tiger
  15. My guess would be that ever since Shock Force came out, battlefront have had a 'slightly' different priority order... and I dont think that TOW is at the top of that order
  16. So battlefront... where is it then!? Its October now.... No, wait, its nearly November. Obviously we would rather the time is taken to make the patch as perfect as possible, but if the new German version is shipping with the Panzer Lehr campaign, then one would assume that its ready to go? Come on... I can smell it... I know its there. Can you give us any info
  17. Hi Panther, no its not available for Mac... although its apparently made using OpenGL... so buggered if I know why it never got ported. Im running it on a 2ghz Core 2 Duo iMac via bootcamp, which is running Windoze XP, and Im happy to say that it works perfectly. the game is not based on the CM series, however it is a lot of fun, in my opinion much more fun than the new CM:SF is, I guess that depends on your gaming preference really. TOW had a few 'bugs' when it was released, but is running pretty smoothly now and will get even better when the next patch comes out (hopefully soon). If youve got an intel Mac, then i'd recommend buying TOW - try the demo first though - its not CM, but its probably closer than CM:SF is. Cheers
  18. Crikey! We're a couple of updates behind I think Normandy eh! I cant bloody wait... well Ill have to... but, you know what I mean. So... how far away is this almighty patch then? The golden question
  19. localiseation patch? what do you mean by that?
  20. that woudl be nice, but there are trenches coverning the AT guns... not to mention the sniperborg accuracy of the AT gun crews - this coudl have been changed inteh last patch though as I havent played this map since before the patch. Definitley need to lay down some HE area fire on the gun positions first then roll in with tanks and infantry - one step at a time
  21. Possibly included in the next patch... or will this be a "please give us more of your money" add on A Panzer Lehr campaign woudl be outstanding, no offence to the devs, but the russian campaign isnt my cup of tea really. I would really like to see a better british, or american campaign too... not just bundled together and called allies
  22. No Pat_Tornado, your is English is good... perfect actually. I agree with the direction of a few of your points, such as making infantry more worthwhile and useable and refining the spotting system currently used. But by far the most important thing I would have thought, would be to work out a system for a Quick Battle generator. As you have already said, the point to which the existing maps/battles are programmed with triggers means that they become predictable and boring very quickly. It was the Quick Battle generator that has given the CM series its longevity. My understanding is that this will be extremely hard to create because the game is based on a series of triggers? Anyway, Pat_Tornado, my apologies for being short, I just dont think there is any reason to cheapen TOW... it has the fundamentals of a brilliant game design, it just needs a bit of care in making it exactly that... a brilliant game.
  23. Hi Firebird76, its been a while since Ive played that mission... if its the one Im thinking of you start with a couple of Brumbarren SPG's? If it is this scenario, then place those suckers on the top of the hill in/near your deployment area. From this position you can lay down some HE area fire on most of the AT guns in your way the big problem is when you get up and over the hill looking into the town there are 3x BIG AT guns on a slope behind the town... needless to say, they show no mercy to any of your Panzer boys. Of course I could be talking about a completely different scenario and leading you around the proverbial mulberry bush. good luck
  24. yeah yeah... we could introduce tiberium and some sort of machine to farm it and call the Game Command and Conquer...... Maybe we could add an option to build tank factorie too. please
  25. 1. quick battle generator 2. LOS improvement/tool 3. on map mortars/spotters Please Please Please dont put ammo trucks in there... this isnt BF1942, who the hell in their right mind would drive a truck full of ammo into an active battle zone and expect to live for more than 5 seconds, and for that matter what self respecting tanker would park up next to a truck full of AP ammo in a fire fight... wouldnt happen... didnt happen thanks
