  1. [edit] US deliveries to USSR American deliveries to the Soviet Union can be divided into the following phases: "pre Lend-lease" 22 June 1941 to 30 September 1941 (paid for in gold) first protocol period from 1 October 1941 to 30 June 1942 (signed 1 October 1941) second protocol period from 1 July 1942 to 30 June 1943 (signed 6 October 1942) third protocol period from 1 July 1943 to 30 June 1944 (signed 19 October 1943) fourth protocol period from 1 July 1944, (signed 17 April 1945), formally ended 12 May 1945 but deliveries continued for the duration of the war with Japan (which the Soviet Union entered only 8 August 1945) under the "Milepost" agreement until 2 September 1945 when Japan capitulated. 20 September 1945 all Lend-Lease to Russia was terminated. The list 1 below is the amount of war matériel shipped to the Soviet Union through the Lend-Lease program from its beginning until 30 September 1945. Aircraft 14,795 Tanks 7,056 Jeeps 51,503 Trucks 375,883 Motorcycles 35,170 Tractors 8,071 Guns 8,218 Machine guns 131,633 Explosives 345,735 tons Building equipment valued $10,910,000 Railroad freight cars 11,155 Locomotives 1,981 Cargo ships 90 Submarine hunters 105 Torpedo boats 197 Ship engines 7,784 Food supplies 4,478,000 tons Machines and equipment $1,078,965,000 Non-ferrous metals 802,000 tons Petroleum products 2,670,000 tons Chemicals 842,000 tons Cotton 106,893,000 tons Leather 49,860 tons Tires 3,786,000 Army boots 15,417,001 pairs [edit] See also Now rememeber the 2751 liberty ships that were produced to deliver these supplies as well as our own armies, equipping our own armies, deliveringthem to Europe, the mighty air forces(320,000 aircraft) that were used to defeat axis and the 22 aircraft carriers, 141 escort carriers, 8 battleships, 48 cruisers, 349 destroyers, 498 convoy escorts, 441 submarines etc..... 2. I also would suggest some investments in long range air. Also remember Bombers reduce entrenchments by 2 per bombing, while fighters only reduce 1 per attack.
  3. Yes, Stalin's organist is right on track. Go here for some intersting information. The numbers are staggering. A couple of interesting facts, all aviation fuel for Soviets supplied by USA as well as 1981 locomotives and over 11,000 rail cars and almost 400,000 trucks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lend_lease
  4. I noticed in the closed topic you asked if it was ok, Hubert. I downloaded it form internode also and played several rounds against computer and it all worked well. Pentium 4 3.4, radeon x16oo pro, 2 gig ram.
  5. Very nice read guys, thanks for all the action and details. Dak21, thanks for the neat animated maps, very sweet.... Good luck Collins and Hellraiser....
  6. Jesus went on vaction twice, and Colins I went on vacation once. That is 3 weeks of it right there. Also Jesus lives near Madrid which also causes some bad timimg for returning turns. When I work night shift, My European friends and I get in quite a few turns. When I am on days my North American friends and I get in a more turns.
  7. Good to see many of the old guard are in agreement. Will be a fun and interesting year or two after WAW release. As good as the team is now finessing the game, I am sure we can come up with some requests, although will be much more difficult it seems....
  8. Right on target Sea Monkey. The MPPs already include manpower to some extent. EV, there are many times in SC2 where I have over extended Axis armies and can not replenish all my units to full power on all fronts and the build screeen shows no new units coming. Then not only do I have to decide where to replenish, but what types of units, do I need to do air to keep reducing defensive positions, Tanks for that punishing assault, or Infantry as the initiative has passed on a front and I need to man up my defenses. Only the most skilled players, hate to bring it up, but Terif has alluded to it many times, know they have to chose their battle fields carefully and commit an overwhelming force to complete the objective for that front. Has been said many times, Aixs can not conquer and hold all at same time. Thus their manpower limitations. It is up to the Allied player to hit and run axis early to soak off points and reduce the Axis tidal wave of 39-42. IE, know your enemy and hit him where he is weak and he will have to op units thus reducing his ability to keep the initiative. If Allies are not able to take initiative away some time in 43 and dictate the war on thier terms, usually will lead to an Axis victory. many times early on against some old time players(see my PL file, also add mirror against Rambo) I would loose a couple of units in France and maybe NA before Barbarossa. These add up huge and like interest, compound the later manning issues on the East Front. Because instead of adding fresh units to your experienced cadre, you adding green units to a reduced cadre thus another example of manpower being used in this game. Remember the conquest of countries did not only add thier economies to the axis, but the also added manpower to the Axis war machine. Everybody likes a winner and many fought for the Germas until the tide turned. Thus the grab all strategy that is used by those good enough to time the conquest and not have a late Bararossa, again shows and effect for manning. As they have added MPPs, which represent not only goods and money, but also Manpower. Stalin's Organist, I ask you, as you seem to come up with many amazingly accurate data for WW2, which you use to defend your positions, how many foriegners were part of the Axis forces during the war? Again just adding in my two cents, please I do not aim to step on toes, just love the debate.... [ September 07, 2007, 12:55 PM: Message edited by: Konigs ]
  9. Ok, lets be honest, if soo many stupid decisions were not made, ie no winter equipment for German army in 41, Stalingrad 42, Kursk 43, equipment being replaced at pre war levels of produciotn until 43, the weak attempt to contain Normandy bridegehead in 44 with all armor units leaving 15th army sitting in Pas de Calais, how many of us over man Europe waiting for invasion, too many good males going to AA units and junky Luftwaffe dividions, building all new units and not reinforcing frontline units, too many stand and die orders with no defense in depth on the East front as well as others( How much better would Soviets have been in winter of 41 if they had not lost 3 million soldiers in opening of Barbarossa), El Almaein in 42 also, Manpower would not have been such a big issue for Germany. So by not making same ignorant decisions you have the ability to see what could have really happened. Have a couple of your assualt forces surrounded( couple of armies, corps and an HQ) and see how long you last, stand in the face of an offensive and let your units be surrounded and loose them permanently and watch how quickly Axis falls in this game. I think this game is closer to accuracy then many think. I mean why does no one Land the BEF in Europe and use them to fight in Early defense of France(Not talking about the Brest option). Because we know from hindsight that they will be slaughtered with the French and any good Axis player will not let them escape like the foolish decision that was made at Dunkirk. Why do we hold back when winter begins in Russia instead of pushing Axis forces to exhaustion like they did in 41. Because it will lead to andearly exit for the Axis thats why. The concept is to produce a game that allows for eveyone to go through the what if Scenarios. I mean some guys complain about the grab all strategy. Well I hate to say it, except for Spain and the Swiss banks and Swedish ore, Axis conquered all. So read history and learn from it, and take this game for what it is, an excellent game that was developed by and excellent person backed by an excellent beta team and a liked by an excellent group of history, gaming loving group of guys who make this forum a great place to hang out and read and share opinions. Just my two cents worth. Thanks for your time....
  10. I would like to be the first to recognise the fact that Hubert and his Beta team out did their past performance on the soon to be released SC2 Weapons and Warfare expansion. In reading the blog above, I noticed that Edwin P. and Terif were included in the process. Seems this was an excellent decision as they both understand the game at a level few do beyond Hubert himself. Please do not take offense Hubert or Betas, I have played SC2 religiously for the last 18 months and in all my years of gaming can not sya that about any other game. Usually completely burned out on any game in 6 months very few, and more likely 3 months. But in a quest to improve they new release even more, you have included even more talent on an already great team, thank you and I look forward to investing some more money in the future of Battlefront, with my purchase of SC2 Weapons and Warfare..... Gogogogogogo....
  11. Thanks for the update Hubert, I am sure the excitement level for all SCers is rising....
  12. I used to invest in it every time and Production tech. Then after a few hits would switch back to IW and AT etc. When I got early hits it worked well and Soviets would overwhelm Axis by late 42 early 43 usually. But more often than not, I would be behind in land techs and watch Soviet units die before Superior Axis onslaught.
  13. Agreed, Hitler lacked the time to become more evil. The description of Mr. Putin was in reply to Rambo's statement that no one knows the current leader of Russia and does not care anyway. Again agreed, since the early begining of Russian history the current Ukrainian territories to the Muscovites throwing off the Yoke of the Golden Horde of the Mongols, Russian peoples have always had a central powerful leader with a ruling elite around them. The 70 year communist run was nothing more than the excat replica of the Czarist Russia. The Czar was replaced by a Premier, the supporting nobles by the communist party members, and the hapless serfs were represented by the collectives, farming or industry never mattered. They were all at the call of the elite. Funny how it is hard for peoples to change their ways, even after 1300 years of similiar types of goverments. I believe the first Russian society was developed along the danube near Kiev. They had contacts to the South with Bryzantines and to the north the Swedes and such in what is currtent day Lithuania etc.....
  14. Stalin was more Evil than Hitler could have ever been. Stalin purged and killed his own people with no mercy and no real agenda other than retaining his power grip on the USSR. He turned on his own cronies, communist allies and his own generals and army. He cared for naught but his own self serving power. Had he not signed the Non-aggression pact with the nazis originally, history could have been quiet different. The current leader of what is now Russia is Vladimir Putin. Ex-KGB chief who has not brought communism back, but has definitely rolled back any democratic and capitalist reforms. He has crushed opposition in the media and industry. He has flexed Russian power over the European bloc by shutting down their gas supply in the dead of winter to prove his control. There is a new cold war approaching, he has continuously assualted American ideas for a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe. He and Bush are no loonger best of buds as they were a few years ago.....
  15. Only problem was I would have had to OP several units back as I had a big hole in the belly of Axis Europe. This would have probable led to general offensive in North Russia where I only had 2 Armies and 1 corp. I definitely need some more experience as Axis against High level players like your self....
  16. I have taken a thurough beating at the hands of an SC vet. I am sending my signed peace treaties to the victorious Allies and will go back to the drawing board....
  17. The axis forces are reloading during the calm winter months. The Allies take this time to launch a surprise assault on an undefended Sicily. Axis had been expecting a Blitz accross the desert. Allies declare war on an undefended Iran, and then are surprised to see the Afika Korps not only assualting Caucus form Iraq, but also Iran. In Russia both forces postioning for what could be a deciding Spring battle around Leningrad. So far in a battle of Manuever the Soviet forces are cutting off Axis corps along the Narew river as they try to cut off Soviet forces....
  18. Did a PBEM turn, as I have not been able to do TCP recently. Irag Baathist happily join the Reich as the British Surrender to the Afrika Korps. More Oil for the German Economy. Elsewhere we reinforce and rebuild awaiting spring in Russia. More soon, should be a blood bath in '42 AS OKH realises they are behind and must regain the initiative or else....
  19. The Lord Jesus Christ is my savior! Enough said. Why would the Chinese abandon their religion for an atheist Communist Government? Enough asked. Oh yeah, as far as pacifist, why would 250,000 Chiniese assualt UN troops saving the South Koreans from their agressive neighbors.... ?????
  20. Konigs in.... put me in vet, as I have played most of you even though they end up being losses, most of time....
