  1. I was mistaken, didn't see that the Jeeps were destroyed. So the idea of remounting would work for them as well.
  2. Good point. Hope it is enough of a deterrent. NATO membership for Sweden is one of the hot political topics right now and the nation is pretty much devided on what is best.
  3. I have to check again, might be a difference between Jeeps that carry mortar/MG teams and other Jeeps. I usually get the "no go" icon when plotting a move to such a Jeep.
  4. Good idea, but since a Jeep can't be remounted there would be no way to acquire. Would work for halftracks though.
  5. I can add to this that Nvidia GeForce Experience was deleted which probably caused all the driver settings to disappear.
  6. Short answer for now (haven't read links) from a Swede with a summer house in Gotland. My impression is that the high alert also was a result of NATO drills which Sweden took part in (while not being a full member) which showed that if Russia was to attack the Baltic states, the first move might be to take Gotland and setup anti aircraft batteries there to get full air defense coverage with the bases in Kaliningrad and St Petersburg. I doubt mainland Sweden is of primary interest. I wish it was 150 tanks, but alas only a mech infantry rifle company so far and some Stridsvagn 122 next year. The force now is not more than a speedbump I have actually since BS was released planned to do a scenario set in Slite on Gotland's east coast but am waiting for a NATO forces module. That city is of interest for Russia also with regard to the Nordstream gas pipeline to Germany that runs through Sweden's economic zone east of Gotland, and the plans to build another one.
  7. Last night there was a major win 10 update. Unfortunately it cause some problems for me like mouse stopped working, resetting a bunch of settings, removing shortcuts, cause nVidia settings for all CM-games to reset and some other things. And that is all I have discovered so far. Anyone else with problems relating to CM or otherwise?
  8. That might be the case, but if so the lable "not deployed" is highly confusing as it points to it still being a possibility. There is no way to figure out if the gunner took the hit. In a dismounted crew they can be reduced to one man and still deploy unless it is "knocked out". At least they kept all the ammo which can be shared with another team. I would prefer it to state "knocked out" for clarity.
  9. That is good to know. The mortar can't remount the Jeep so I can't check. What happens if you dismount the same crew again - still no deploy command?
  10. I play a QB as US infantry and they get some assets such as 81 mm mortars loaded on Jeeps. One such team took casualties while in the Jeep. They then dismounted (two left) and was about to set up the mortar (not stated as "knocked out" in the UI) but the command for "deploy weapon" has disappeared from the UI. Don't think I've seen that before. Is that the way it is intended to be?

  12. Great set of upgrades. Could the Flavor Object new clone placement be adapted for buildings also? It would make it faster/easier to make towns and urban areas since you don't know what the buildings look like or how many levels they have in the 2d mode. Anything that makes scenario making easier and more fun is for the benefit of the community which is such a big part of the CM-experience.
  13. I'm on the constant outlook for pics that could make great splash screens. So if you or anyone else have any, send them to me or post link. The pic should be atleast 900*700 pixels and preferably in color. But it would be interesting to see what can be done in B&W. I now have requests for FI and RT (german side) so keep em' coming.

  17. I continued with the US test. I replaced the Jeep with a MMG Jeep and pulled it, the HT and tank back to 400 m. Have only run the test once and: No one fired at the Jeep until it was at about 300 m, it showed the same concentrated pattern of incoming fire, despite being a smaller target than the HT (the gunner is more exposed). It didn't take many shots to kill the gunner. No one fired at the tank/TC until the tank opened fire. When incoming fire came the TC buttoned. The HT was targeted at 400 m, showed about the same concentration of accurate incoming fire as at 300 m, but the gunner survived the entire turn I'm going to pull the HT even further back to see if the incoming fire pattern changes. Right now I'm leaning towards the overall conclusion that a vehicle, with a gunner/TC that is not a seperate target, acts like a "beacon" that attracts incoming fire in a way that seems unwarrented. It would be nice if someone at BFC can shed some light on the issue and if this is an intentional design choice. I'm starting to tire of testing this stuff by now.

  19. Here is what the HT and gunner looks like at different zoom levels: Not sure what corresponds to "real life view", supposedly 1, but perhaps between 1 and 3. Still no much to aim at.
  20. AFAIK windows are abstracted in the game so the window in not always were it seems to be graphically, there might be holes in the wall from which to fire/get fired at etc.
  21. The micro terrain that you speak of and small undulations surely only affects a stationary target that lies flat on the ground. Then a small undulation might help with avoiding shrapnel from an explosion or such. Moving forward micro terrain can't cover more than up to a soldier's knees (if even that) and then he is still a larger target than the HT gunner. I know the game isn't designed for artificial test situations, but in order to analyse something I need to isolate an occurance from as many factors as possible. But I will keep a lookout, and I urge others to do so, for in-game situations when this happens. Keep saves, make screenshots, describe situation in detail - only then can we get away from it being dismissed as "anecdotal". Please post link to JasonC numbers.
  22. I just took screenshots from the firing unit's perspective, not that it fully represents the 3d depth perception of a real human but should give an impression of just how large a target they aim at. Will post those tomorrow.
