  1. If my memory serves me correctly, 2nd AD (could as well have been 2nd ID) used these uniforms for a short period. It was a test to determine if was sensible to equip all US units with camo uniforms like the German army. Pattern was the same as the USMC used in the PTO. The project was abandoned when US units wearing these uniforms got repeatedly shot at by their own guys becasue at a distance they very much resembled the peadot-pattern wearing SS troopers...
  2. By the way... who's grass mod is that?
  3. That's what I wanted to hear. So there'll be no Swastikas ingame, I suppose? As you know, the biggest problem for someone like me - though a lot of people just find that paricular law most ridiculous...
  4. Will all the German guys 'round here (like myslef ) be able to purchase the US version? Just in case localization will cause further delays (we've been already waiting for years!) for release...
  5. You have a point, Moon - as always. What bothers me, though is the part about ToW's focus being on CC style missions. Tanks IMHO aren't suited to close combat situations at engagement ranges below 500m. It's deadly in CM and would be deadly elswhere. So for me that translates into something like tank rushing because of engagement ranges there'd be not much difference if you have a PzIII or a Panther...
  6. It's maybe a dumb question (and has been answered somewhere, though I can't find it right now), but: How will casualties be modelled? Still no medics treating light wounds? Does the game abstract casualty numbers like CM did? Is it likely to have someone wounded light enough so he can still fight afterwards?
  7. Actually, it's possible to shoot down low-flying aircraft with the MG42 (though it's pretty tough), but it's no decent replacement for a dedicated AA gun...
  8. Would be a nice feature, else the multiplayer modus might very well resemble a click fest similar to Sudden Strike...
  9. Can't wait to see MikeyD going to work on this one...
  10. But the real question is: will attractiveness be modelled in the new engine? Will we get the option to pimp our tanks? Like Hifi, chromed engine grilles, spoilers, spinners on teh roadwheels...
  11. If you want an e-mail game, just let me know.
  12. Forgot to mention that. I tuned my BO in every aspect possible it it really looks neat now... a few things not the way I want them yet, but that might change with a little bit more time.
  13. Apart from that, THERE IS NO SUCH THING as late/early model Panther D's. Common misinterpretation of the photographic evidence we have. But a lot of people still think there were and most of the books on the topic still claim it. So why bother? By the way: Did you know the Jagdpanther had very good aerodynamics and therefore the other tanks were so impressed by his looks they coudn't turn away? <- That's something a book of a so-called 'expert' claims...
  14. Well, CMBO is the oldest one and has A LOT less features and an inferior AI than BB and AK. But there's one thing I consider an argument to still play: the vehicles in the game like Pershings, Comets and others. It's a blast to watch Pershings duke it out with King Tigers... So, actually, it's a matter of taste. If you can do with less features, older graphics, inferior AI (not to say the AI is STILL bad in the newer games) then there's no reason to neglect the Western Front. After all, you could play against a friend making up for the AI. I still play it a lot and I know of a few guys still doing the same, though it isn't that attractive for many players around here anymore...
  15. Ah, I understand. But the last one on the 'cover' very much looked like the wave pattern of the sSS-PzAbt 502 in Normandy... Well, whatever. I'll tr y to make them myself. I'm using PhotoShop7, but the menus still seem to be the same. Astounding work you did there - again. my highest regards.
  16. Works absolutely perfect. Thanks very much - now I can do what I ever wanted to! Hopefully a few of the camo patterns posted earlier... Anyway, you will seen results soon enough! Is there any chance you'll tackle the Brummbär now? By the way: Where are all those patterns you did for the tutorial? You really have a gift there, you know... 17. The I suggest you make your own game - preferably a tabletop one. Then you can have all the tanks you want in whatever scale you want. Now that I think about it, a 1/8th scale tabletop game would be awesome!
  18. That would be rellay appreciated. And I think it would be helpful to more people than just me. But if I, for one, knew how to properly do camo patterns I could do A LOT of patterns with all your tanks. Especially those I posted pictures of a few weeks ago...
  19. Mike, you're absolutely stunning! Everyone else is enjoying the World Championship, but you're modding! Okay, I'm building model tanks, so I definitly can't judge... Now all I have to do is work out how to apply camo schemes in PhotoShop myself. What program do you use? And could you maybe give me a few tutoring lessons?
  20. The one with one key is 1st SS Panzer, the two keys is sSSPzAbt501 (or 101, in this case).
  21. I can't recall having read about real accounts of a Sturmtiger in action apart from that in Warsaw (maybe). I just remembered a cityfight scenario a freind of mine built 2 years back where he managed to kill a T-34/85 and about 600 Russian soldiers with one shell. Interesting in this case is the fact that he actually fired into a building behind which the T-34 was positioned and - as seems obvious - most of the KI's soldiers...
  22. Well, I killed an IS-3 with this baby a few years back... Bin since then, I stuck to historical scenarios and never came across a Sturmtiger again. Well, mybe I'll use one in the next armor QB I'm doing!
  23. Most beautiful. And now for the interesting part: any camo patterns?
