  1. Redwold you have been a massive help and it now works! For Vista its the following: Right click on desktop > Nvidia Control Panel > View > advanced > Programme settings* > CM Africa Korps > Antialisaing mode > Override application settings and set to 2x *I chose this option over global settings as if i am to be honest i have no idea what am really doing lol!
  2. Thanks for the help, but could you elaborate? Where do i find these options? I dont understand if you mean this for only the latest cards and for Vista, as for XP i only used Nvidia cards and had no problems; played the game on 3 different generations of the card.
  3. I played no problem on XP, whats the major difference? Is there a work around?
  4. Hi all I have recently upgraded to Vista and have just installed the game then patched it. Game loads ok, scenarios load ok but then i get this mad graphics problem making the game compeltly unplayable. Please see the links to the screenshots of the problem, the screenshots do not obviously highlight how the flickering of the duplicate images. The computer is Pentuim duel core 2.50 ghz, 4gb Ram, vista home prem 32bit with a Nvidia, Geforce 9400 GT 1gb. I have never had any problems running the game before although it was with much weaker systems using Nvidia Geforce cards however they were all on XP. Any advice on how to get the game working? 5. Video card is an Nvidea, cant remember the model however. It appears when routing through the bmp file that files are indeed missing! Am going to reinstall and see what happens :S Edit: Meh it appears that a simple reinstall solved all the problems. Oh well cheers for the help [ February 03, 2008, 06:54 AM: Message edited by: The_Enigma ]
  6. The lastest version of CMBB goes out already patched. For those who have an older version and want it patched, all they have to do is download it from the likes of Fileplanet, it takes like a minute to set up an account plus its Free. At any rate most other companies do this to, when ive patched games in the past, like 75% of the time had to go to the likes of fileplanet etc
  7. Nope lol Ill reinstall it all tomorrow then Will do a search to see if i can find this dudes posts cheers
  8. I remember playing some scenario where you were given a few Tigers only and had to halt a Soviet tank advance through a town. I remember using one to block each of the main roads through the town and destroyed something like 30 T34/75 in the process, only loss being one Tiger imobilised, so not really a loss - although he ended up being surrounded by T34s and destroyed them all. Agaisnt someone else however, i remember racking up quite a few kills with one Tiger agaisnt my mate in a CMAK scewnario - think it was like 7 kills or something.
  9. To might want to start using some form of houserules which you state before buying your forces. I.e. no KV tanks or put a limit on them etc As for increasing the lifespan of your infantry, have you tried investing in FOO or support weapons like machine guns? Thinning there ranks out via killing them or braking them at range is more perferable then letting them close on you. If ammo is an issue you may wanna pick some good old regular infantry, they pack more ammo? Or have a good look around the editor to see which squad types pack the most punch and ammo, i seem to remember cavaly packing a nice punch and carting some decent ammo but i may be wrong there.
  10. Hey guys, since my main computer broke am on a spare one which i have installed by CM games onto. However CMBB has been providing me with a few problms which i have never experianced before. When the game has been on this machine perviously it has worked fine and on my own one its fine. Anyhoo, several units scenarios are coming just white - now i know this happens occasionaly, however this appears to just be for certain units like if there bmp files dont exist and also provides an wierd icon of the unit i.e: Now i can confirm on that scenario, were there was a hell load of other halftracks, tanks, infantry etc etc only that halftrack and another one of the same model were like that. Same has happened in another scenario were 2 Panzer IVG display like such with the wierd unit icon but all other units on map are fine. The second wierd thing to happen is that if i click on some of the units, it appears to mostly be the opposing force, the game will crash and i get this message: Any ideas whats going on here, in all the time i have owned and played CMBB i never experianced these problems. My BB game is from the anthology and is already patched to 1.3.
  11. The original poster should stop acting like a winey bitch .... come on seriously! Fileplanet - CMBB patch 1.03 Thats the latest patch and its free to download, if you have to you just make an account with the website free of charge.
  12. "Sorry to bother you Chaps, were in a bit of a binder here. It would be awfully nice of you to lend us a hand and give fritz a damm good thrashing at *insert co*ords here*" Am pretty sure thats how they did it, yep. Edit: I was reading through bits of one of the sites that website cites at the bottom earlier on. Link It does seem to have quite a bit of info on there, it also has sections for engaging targets and fire plans etc so that might have some of the info you need buired in there? the stuff i was reading through was the lessons from World War 1, seemed like pretty intresting stuff.
  13. I use to play COD:UO to death, played on a server with a great bunch of guys. Allot of team work and rifle action - unlike most servers. I thought the SP part of COD2 was good but i havnt played the multiplayer part since the first few go's - most people in my exp were running around with shotguns! British desert maps had most of the British team armed with garrands and the Germans with MP44s etc Killed the fun for me, for some strange reason no one seemed to co-op as much as they use to either. Last time i played anything online other then CM lol
  14. Lurking in the shadows for sure! Nicknames was not the norm in the German army. It might seem to have been, given the widely known Ofenrohr, Möbelwagen and what have you. But it wasn't, and I don't know of any popularly conceived nicknames for german tanks used by Germans during the war. Nor do I recall any female names or other colourful, romantic names. I am challenged to find any German tanks wearing US-type Pinup girls or cartoonish figures on them. If colourful at all, German tanks would be decorated with colourful unit emblems, not individual such. In contemporary sources, in particular war diaries, one will often find individual tanks refered to by their call-name (radio call, such as "Sun One" or "Red Two" etc). When tank types were still mixed (II, II and IV) the Pzkpfw IV can be referred to as Heavy (Heavies). Tiger, Panther, Lynx - these names were all quite dedicated PR efforts, projected from top down, thus not popularly conceived nicknames in any sense. A success they were too, as these names stuck real quick among friend and foe alike. Incidentally, wouldn't the Panther be a "Mark Five" to a Brit/CW soldier? Or did they stick with "Panther"? 15. Cheers Fritz DSF: Dont worry about "stupid" questions Am sure we will all happily chip in to help out You may want to visit this site TPG There is an entire section devoted to scenario editor tips and hints, its also a good place to get scenarios tested and allot of the scenario designers visit there so you would be able to grab yourself even more help
  16. Could also use the casulty button to knock a few heads off the squads....
  17. Poor Old Spike has iirc, his screenshots are on the Blitz and at the World at War forums. I could have swore one of them showed tanks using all the speed settings and showed how far they travelled over open ground in one minute. I cant find the one am thinking of, so it must be on the blitz. However this one regarding turn rates of tanks etc may be of intrest: Link Edit: found it : Link Hope its some help to you [ September 07, 2007, 11:30 AM: Message edited by: The_Enigma ]
  18. Nice screenshot, i may give this a try later on You may hit a bigger auidence as well if you uploaded this to the Scenario Depot or the Proving Grounds you know
  19. While that shot is impressive, in a AK quick battle once i had a Churchill with a 95mm howizter, travelling at full speed rotate its turret fire half way across the map and nail a stug iirc which was also in motion ... shot of the war imo Anyhoo the whole bogging thing for teh T34 is its lower gorund presure isnt it compared to the other tanks?
  20. If your looking for books .... Ive just bought a book which was highly recommended to me called: Colossal Cracks: Montgomery's 21st Army Group in Northwest Europe 1944-45 The Synopsis off Amazon.co.uk Ive seen some great reviews for it and as i said it was highly recommended to me, although i have yet to read it. Going for the Official Historys could also be a good idea, British and American ones are available to buy iirc and am sure some dude mentioned on the forum a few weeks back that a German one is in the works. The British one is called: Victory in the West: Volume I: The Battle For Normandy Volume II: The Defeat of Germany Both can be found here. I found 'The Struggle For Europe' which covers the entire ETO and also gives a bit of a background story, i.e. covers dunkirk and the years of fighting alone briefly, to be very intresting. Am a bit of a slow reader but this book gripped me and i read it in a few weeks (which is good for me ). 'Overlord: D-Day and the Battle for Normandy' and 'Armageddon: The Battle for Germany' by Max Hastings are supose to be real good works. I only have the latter, which i didnt quite like but its been so long since ive read it i cant actually remember why lol For a German Point of View, ive read some memoirs: The Rommel Papers by Erwin Rommel, Grenadiers by Kurt Meyer Panzer Commander by von Luck ... all touch on Normandy and the fighting across France into the Low Countires and Germany. Meyers book from Normandy on, while covering the fighting from a German point of view reeked of propaganda. The Rommel Papers section on the invasion and onwards was actually wrote by Lt.Gen Fritz Bayerlein, although it still contains Rommels letters home. The "Usual suspects" for the ETO, which seems to be books everyone has read are: 'The Longest Day' and 'A Bridge Too Far' by Cornelius Ryan (although theres allot more books out there now on both subjects, which will probably update what he wrote quite a bit. Iirc there was one book on Arnhem which was made up of quite allot of Vets describing what happened or something like that) 'D-Day' and 'Band of Brothers' by Steve Ambrose (there are a few others by him which cover different parts and subjects of the eto too). Hope that helps somewhat. Thats only the tip of the iceburg as you have probably guessed, theres a lot lot more out there. For example Brian Reid is doing books detailing each Canadian Operation in detail, he has done Operation Totalize and ive read hes working on one for Tractable. I guess another two which could be usful would be: Defeat in the West and Why the Allies won not to mention the countless other memoirs and dairys by soldiers of all ranks which are in print. One last point, any book published before the 70s iirc will not mention the Ultra information. Iirc that was pretty obvious in the struggle for europe as opposed to other books wrote later which cite it. Am currently reading through the British Official Histories for the Middle East, they just go around it by stating something along the lines of 'it was known' but never state how it was. 21. A point of intrest, i find it rather funny how when growing up before seriously becoming intrested in researching and learning as much as possible that the Tiger in common perception was this unbeatable tank (sorta like a modern one vs the old bunch the iraqis had type of thing). But when you look in to it all you see the losses they took, for example the unit above or units like the 101st iirc which lost all its Tigers in the Normandy battle ... and how they were taken out i find to be rather intresting, 6 pounders, 75mm guns etc
  22. Does anyone have the BMP numbers for the Crusader MK I through III?
  23. Come to think of it, ive only ever seen photos of them with like 3-4 guys in them. Although am sure like you said, i can just picture a hell load of them piling in if they need to go somewhere in a hurry. Edit, after saying that i found this The entire section piled in on this one Caption states: "Katie" of the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment ('Hasty Pees') somewhere in Italy. Note the entire section of infantry which has hitched a ride! This is indicative of the abuse carriers received throughout the war. lol hasty pee Edit again: Seems later in the war carrier drivers and erm crew? got a helmet which was a version of the para helmet instead of wearing the regular bowl style one.
  24. I played it last year i believe, lots of small unit combats to clear the woods out. The scenario is massive yet i was splitting units into there fireteams to clear the place out. Was good fun
