  6. Well there was quite alot of Italian colonists in North Africa and Benghazi was on the receiving end of over 1000 bombing raids in 2 years ... one of the most bombed places of the war iirc. So there we go ... its was completly inhumane in North Africa. [ June 15, 2007, 04:33 AM: Message edited by: the_enigma ]

  9. If you do want to buy BB and AK i would suggest looking to see if its cheaper to get the combat mission anthology, which is all 3 games in a box Other the great mod community and to all the scenario designers out there pumping out a shed load of scenarios (some which are based on historical events, some which make you fight for you cyber life etc) for you to download, there are also tournaments, campaigns, ladders etc which get run all the time too which add to the immense amount of fun. As for the community, there is something like 16-20 active communities that i know of, but don’t actually visit all of them, as well as other sites dedicated to mods, scenarios etc etc
  10. If you dudes wanna see a real nutjob ... Henry Stevens ... I had the wonderful honor of reading a few extracts from his book, he appears to be one of only a few select people who have solved what Foo Fighters are (not the bloody band! ) That being tin foil wraped jet air defence weapons blah blah blah Have to say it got very way out and was all provided as fact without a shread of evidence also funny enough excluded all reports of them which couldnt really be plonked on the Germans - i.e. them being seen in the Indian Ocean etc ... pretty sure he failed to mention that for such a super weapon theres been no reports as far as i know of them harming anything.
  11. I propose bricking up both sides of the underneath of the bridge so the troll cannot get out again ...
  12. A "point this end towards enemy" sign on it eh?
  13. Re: Panzer Operations Still plodding through this book. Currently at the portion were he talks about the retreat from Kursk. Its funny to note, when the book starts, he has high praise for Ivan, there fighting skill and courage but is quick on occasion to say how crap they are. However it seems to be a decent blend of this. Following the battles outside of Moscow and then deploying for Operation Winter Storm, there is one hell of a twist. Ivan have became complete incompetents, it appears he is more inclined to say its all because of him it worked out and that he knows better then the guys above him. Or so it appears to be as i read further. There starts as well some inconsistencies with other books ive read (Eastern Front isn’t really my thing). His revolving battle he describes as being one day taking up around 10 hours while other books have said it went on for days - i find that interesting. There was one or two other examples but i forget them now lol His cover of the fighting near/around/in Kharkov and Operation Citadel were very brief whereas talking about creating a bridgehead in some backwater part of Latvia and its in-depth. As he rises in command the book does seem to get a little more duller. I have noticed that so far, its only the Soviets who have committed any atrocities ... no mention of anything his troops may have seen or done etc (same thing in Kurt Meyers book - evil Russians, were saints, evil Canadians, were saints) On top of that ive found several of the maps to be very unhelpful, especially when they have been talking about an action at location X and it isnt even on the maps they provide! Other then that, i hold firm in the opinion as i said before that the book is however very interesting.
  14. I like Mr K posts, some great links, good dicussions and humor (well sometimes) always flow from them and who doesnt love talking about UFOs and Cover ups?
  15. The Grant has had a few mods for it, both of which i love. One is on CMHQ under the new mod section and the other is on CMMODS iirc and done by Aristotle. Both of which are great imo and a vast improvement over the tan original.

  19. When i was younger and use to play OFP and visit the ofp forums alot there was a story going round that during the cold war at some training camp in the USSR, that they had a trench which was spike lined. The trench got wider as it ran down the field and the troops use to leg it and jump of it ... Anyhoo on the subject of all the UFOs, what about the "Foo Fighter" or the Battle of LA? 20. well the physics do predict it ... iirc there was some test somewhere which showed that the German stick grenade exploded in a nice little arc. Iirc it was the sides explode outwards but the top and botton dont do as much in the exploding department. Although, like hell i would try it to see if it were true </font>
