  1. The topic title says it all! If I am correct the blue bar means the game calculates all the moves again before it shows the action in-game. Would it be possible to re-integrate the feature of switching between game modes again so it is possible to start a game in tcp/ip and continue it with pbem?
  2. Like Zatoichi said check wether the ATI Left Click Compat. option helps. It seems to do way more than only 'fixing a left click issue'. I've got the Sapphire X1950 Pro (AGP) with 512MB which runs a lot of games on full details with very comfortable framerates, but if I deselect the ATI left click option in CMSF my performance behaves very erratic, whereas enabled the game runs smooth as silk. Same on my laptop with a rather limited ATI Xpress 200M card with 128MB I can run the game with 'balanced' detail levels in CMSF or lower, but only if I have the option enabled, otherwise even Fastest is still too much to get decent results. Also screen buildup seems to be affected (laptop only) and I get less artifacts with this opion enabled. It might have a deceiving name, that option. Oh by the way: my laptop runs with the newest cat drivers 8.12 while my desktop runs with older drivers (can't remember which version). More or less same results.
  3. Scrap this... as magically as the issue came, as magically it went away again. . . It really puzzles me, but today I haven't had a single issue anymore with sound, yet I didn't change any settings... Maybe my mobo is dying..?
  4. Situation: re-installed CMSF + Marines from scratch. Updated to v1.11. Sounds plays ok for about a few seconds into the main menu and after that it cuts off, reverbs a lot and sounds garbled. This won't go away after loading a mission. Also a reboot of the pc won't help. CMSF had no sound issues before. I have had it uninstalled for quite a while and wanted to see if the new 1.11 patch would make it playable on my laptop. When I had it running pre-1.11 the performance was not good, but there haven't been sound issues. Any idea what might be causing the corrupt sound? Hardware: AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 512MB RAM, Xpress 200M vidcard with 128MB and motherboard Conexant soundcard.
  5. I have tried getting PBEM Helper to work with CMSF, but I did not succeed. The helper is reliant on some sort of script which will be triggered by the game and I haven't been able to find out how to make it work for CMSF. Also contacting the author of PBEM Helper has resulted is 0 replies unfortunately. I guess we will have to wait for BFC to complete the work.
  6. One small question (and note I didn't download it yet, so if its in the readme, please forgive me): Do the option files replace files in the base set? In other words: does the base set provide a full sound overhaul tailored for ground camera use and the option packs give you the option to shift the focus of the sounds to a more 3rd person perspective, replacing files in the base pack? I ask, because I often use a mix between over-the-shoulder camera FOV and eye-in-the-sky FOV. Don't you get weird sound sensations if you mix and match the sounds or are the effects quite subtle?
  7. Hah! Caught you there! Thanks for the input David. I guess I will use your bundle as a guideline and see what has been added in the mean time to improve even further. Thanks for the effort! Maybe it will be a good idea to do yearly updates of the packs?
  8. Great initiative, thanks David! One question though, seeing that the initial post is quite old do you keep your package up to date with new mods you think are better than previous ones? Also, what is the difference between the ETO pack and the Normandy pack? Aren't these two closely related? And finally just to be sure: your mod packs only contain terrain and markers, no units, correct? Thanks!
  9. I agree with Paper Tiger, but I don't know if Cerebrus is aware that all the 'core game changes' are free for exisiting CMSF owners anyway in the form of the 1.10 patch. The Marines module is just that; a module with new toys and missions. If you have your reserves about dishing out the cash for the module I think it would be wise to just install patch 1.10 over your 'old' cmsf core game and play around for a while to see if its the game you expected. If not, then getting the Marines module will certainly not change that.
  10. I got an advanced lesson to add to the fray as well: "keep pulling the stick backwards though and people will get bigger again."
  11. LOL! Yeah I have that as well, but then again, when I do think of grabbing them, MikeyD's ruleset seems to kick in.
  12. Quit your slaptalk and stop hi-jacking other people's threads...
  13. The announcement stated that more info would come, so I might be a bit impatient here! Anyway I would like to know if we can have a bit more info about the matter; -Does the marines module disk come with a hardcopy manual / manual errata booklet to include all the changes to the original manual or will this info be available only in PDF format? -Will there be an option to get the full new v1.10 manual in hardcopy? -Will the marines module come with a (printable) quick reference card showing a summary of all commands and icon descriptions being used in-game and perhaps on the flip side a break down of units and there core abilities/weapon stats? This would be so much better instead of having to manhandle your manual every time you play to keep it at the correct page.
  14. chuckman welcome! You won't believe this, but as a player here from the start of CMSF I have learned quite a few new things from your thread! Multi-order operations as discussed in the tutorials were a complete black hole for me! hah! I didn't even know it worked that way! All I was doing was single order operations which make WEGO a bit of a pain... Welcome man!
  15. That is just superb news! As much as I like all the improvements being made so far in patches up until now it still feels sometimes that the game plays better in Realtime (though larger battles get so difficult to control I personally avoid them in this mode) than it does in WEGO, but from what I see in the vids that might very well change after the Marines Module gets released and the accompanying patch for the base game gets released simultaneously!
  16. Very nice. Have installed you yellow flames version! Thanks for sharing!
  17. Yes maybe, but the Brits are cocky... Never underestimate the power of... oh no that was a different ad.
  18. Thanks guys to have cleared the issue up. Moon I hope you now know what I mean with the help of others explaining it better than I did? Strange though that the windowed version works differently than the full-screen version.
  19. Great vids! MarkEzra, I especially liked the shots in the second video where the marine squad clears part of the village and stumble upon hostiles behind the wall. The escape maneuver with throwing grenades and then get the hell out; is that 'self-preservation' AI at work or did you command that in real-time? If its the case of the latter it must take tremendous babysitting of troops I reckon! How do you manage to do this on larger battles?
  20. Is it supposed to work this way? Sounds like you could pull off some weird stuff then. . .
  21. I am probably not the only one being slightly annoyed by the new forums. Don't get me wrong; its not about the forum system, the layout nor the features. It's the bl**dy 'scroll bug' or whatever you want to call it! Switching to other forum sections is no problem, but every time you want to post, quote, open a thread or edit a post/thread the system takes you to the bottom of the page instead of the top which results in having to scroll back to the top to start working every single time. Quite annoying. Is there anything you guys (Moon, isn't that your job? ) can do to fix this? I've been on various other vBulletin boards which don't have this... feature (I am trying to be nice here). Funnily, after posting a reply it usually jump to the top of the page instead of showing your reply. It seems the scrolling is backwards!
  22. True, but with higher resolutions a bit of a pain.
  23. Great initiative Scipio! I have signed up. Sivodsi, how's life. Don't you forget to send me that Red on Red scenario now, you hear?
  24. I did a clean reinstall and the game works flawlessly again. Seems that updating v1.06 to 1.08 with the all inclusive patch might glitch your install? Note that I haven't changed any display settings nor driver versions. A clean install was all that was necessary.
