  1. It's good from time to time to see a 'Deep-Thinker' pouring it all out!. You may not have it all figured out at the moment Scook !, but, seem's like your on your way to doing it!.
  2. Blashy , in essence, you are correct, but i don't think completely correct!. It's been age's since i really knew this informaiton, but im quite sure that i remember, that the USSR in WW2 was finally at the breaking point of not being able to keep continuing to sustain the tremendous casualty level's that they had been absorbing for year's!. If that is true at all, then yes, without the U.S. and allied involvement in Europe, the Russian's would have lost!. Some-day, when im in the mood, i will try to search for that information!.
  3. JerseyJohn !: I was just thinking about your book, it need's to be just a little more than a documentary!. It can have a documentary background, but you will need character's in the book to help the reader's get into the shoe's of those poor soul's who were in that nightmare!. That's why to some degree, a 'Writers' viewpoint or an 'Actors' viewpoint,...such as 'Clint-Eastwood' or 'Kevin Costner' or whom-ever, could assist you in adding that perspective!. That would not only help the book [i think], but, as well any possible movie!. I just don't know if there is a market for such a movie???. This is where someone in the 'Movie-Industry', might be quite helpful!.
  4. Yeeeaaaahhhh!!!....so there!!!. The 'Allies' probably only saw the very-likely probability that they would win, not that it was a for-sure thing, until?,...perhap's when the German Debacle at 'Stalingrad' had occured! When that event had just taken place, then im sure that there was much more hope!. It's just my 'wild guess'!.
  5. JerseyJohn !: Well,...yes it's difficult to try to figure out what to do with the story, so, whynot try contacting some 'Military Historians' to get they're take on it!. The only one i can think of, is from Canada, his name is, i hope that i have spelled it correctly, is 'Gwynne Dyer'. I did a search on Mr Gwynne and found his web-site, perhap's he can give you more direction/sources!. http://www.gwynnedyer.net/
  6. JerseyJohn !: Check with 'Clint Eastwood' or some such actor, to see if they can help you find someone who might be interested into making your book into a movie!. They can then show it,...on the 'Sci-Fi' Channel???.
  7. Yes Edwin P .!,...i fully agree!. '1st' and foremost i want as close to a 'real-simulation' of the actual war!, '2ndly!', i would like to explore the almost infinite what-if's, such as some of what you have just suggested!. A study of WW2 is,...in part, an excercise to explore what did actually happen, and then try to circumvent that actuality, as best you can!,...if you can!!!. Not only that, it is or can be much more, such as when we speculate as to what could have happened, preferably in conjunction with event's that have solid historical actualities/realities or historical basis that,... 'might-have', 'could-have' changed the direction or outcome of the war!. In essence then, SC2 'is then/can be' much more than "just a 'Game!' ", it is then also an intellectual excercise, expanding our understanding of the intracacies and depth's of this past historical event!. Of course, such theoretical fantasizing is not important or relevent to everyone, but for some of us,...it is!,...and it's 'Great-Fun!'. One 'Historical-Theoretical' is that when the German-Army was engrossed in Poland, the French-Army was strong enough and could have just walked into Germany & have put an abrupt end to WW2!. ***Other 'Chrome' i would like...is to have the ability to see,...for example, a 3-D Image of what-ever is being researched or developed, to then be able to rotate-it however you wish, so as to be able to look it over very closely. Why???,...only because it would be fun to do so!, as well as it being more educational, instead of just looking at a small Bit-Map Image that is devoid of most of the fine rich detail's. Unit Spec's would be a nice feature too!,...to be able to look at & compare!. [ October 01, 2006, 07:46 PM: Message edited by: Retributar ]
  8. I usually only comment, when im interested in the topic, otherwise i have nothing to say.
  9. YEP!!!...time to slam the 'LOCK ON'!. Deviation to an off-topic discussion [that is not SC2 Related]...is a 'Zero-Tolerance-Offence'!.
  10. I think that the 'Paralysis' of Aircraft is exaggerated in the game!. Why, for instance, did the German's not have a problem flying to Stalingrad to try to resupply Paulus!. The only problem they had was Russian Aircraft!. Did the Allied Bomber Command effort stop during the winter in Europe?. This Paralysis thing is not realistic, we need a fix!.
  11. Interesting idea Fubarno !, it seem's realistic and practical to me. Let's see what input come's from some of the other's!.
  12. "Voice of Reason!:" , can i be reasonable and ask for an 'Analysis for us Laymen'?. My head hurt's looking at your very involved, very extremely detailed work[impressive Work & Cudo's to You!], and so, for now i would just prefer to get a short assessment or explanation on what each particular means in the 'Bottom-Line' or 'Final Assessment'!.
  13. Hitler Youth Panzer division in Normandy?,...There is only ONE reference that i can find at all, and that is the 12SS Panzer Division. Here is another explanation on this... http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/hitleryouth/hj-boy-soldiers.htm Total War - The 12th SS-Panzer Division Hitlerjugend On D-Day, June 6, 1944, the HJ Division was one of three Panzer divisions held in reserve by Hitler as the Allies stormed the beaches at Normandy beginning at dawn. At 2:30 in the afternoon, the HJ Division was released and sent to Caen, located not far inland from Sword and Juno beaches on which British and Canadian troops had landed. The division soon came under heavy strafing attacks from Allied fighter bombers, which delayed arrival there until 10 p.m. By September 1944, the 12th SS-Panzer Division Hitlerjugend numbered only 600 surviving young soldiers, with no tanks and no ammunition. Over 9,000 had been lost in Normandy and Falaise. The division continued to exist in name only for the duration of the war, as even younger (and still eager) volunteers were brought in along with a hodgepodge of conscripts. The division participated in the failed Battle of the Bulge (Ardennes offensive) and was then sent to Hungary where it participated in the failed attempt to recapture Budapest. On May 8, 1945, numbering just 455 soldiers and one tank, the 12th SS-Panzer Division Hitlerjugend surrendered to the American 7th Army MORE INFORMATION; http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Hitler+Youth [ September 27, 2006, 12:29 PM: Message edited by: Retributar ]
  14. Bromley !, i feel your pain,...look's like a 'Dirty Dog Deal' DDD, maybey someone can clarify what happened to you!.
  15. JerseyJohn , the only knowledge i have of this subject is from War-Movies & Documentaries. But!,...yes, the British Aircraft were not the latest Hurricanes or Spitfires, instead they were the Bi-Planes and older Models. However, later on as the war progressed, they built ramp's of sorts and mounted airplane's such as the Hurricane on it, but now, im not sure if it was rocket assisted to help it launch or not!. Anyway, when the airplane had run it's reconnaisance course or interception, i believe that it was then ditched!.
  16. 1. Add the Hitler Youthen Panzer division in 1944. ...???NEVAR HAER DAT BE'FORE!. Could it instead have been the... http://www.achtungpanzer.com/articles/wpzdiv.htm In October of 1943, 12th SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division "Hitlerjugend" was reorganized as 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitlerjugend". It first saw combat in Normandy in June of 1944. It was virtually wiped out at Falaise Pocket in August of 1944. In October of 1944, it was moved to Oldenburg to be refitted and in December of 1944, it took part in the Ardennes Offensive. In February of 1945, it was transferred to Hungary, ending the war in Linz and Enns, Austria in May of 1945. 17. What a most 'Excellent!' suggestion Capt Andrew to have the FOW lifted for all ships going in/out of Gibraltar and adjacent tiles as long as Spain is >= 40% Axis. It's obviously the correct thing to do if we want this game to be as realistic/accurate as can be had under the circumstances.
  18. Unfortunately, that feature is not a working option yet!. I too am tending toward's being able to have Carrier's & Aircraft as separate, yet symbiotic with each other!. It would make the Carrier-Feature more realistic!.
  19. One thing i thought that i would mention,...is that i like the feature that i have in my game where a pop-up will show for example, that the attack on Pearl Harbour is taking place. Well...ok, the message is just fine, however i would like to have it improved/upgraded,...so that with the pop-up message, we could also get a screenshot of that event.
  20. When a leader/HQ is dead, they should not be allowed to re-incarnate. New leaders should generate at mostly lesser values, and have a Wild-Card in the randomizer to generate the odd/infrequent higher capable HQ!.
  21. Scipio666 ...thank's for offering your help to Mr.Dozer . Also, even though it's obvious to you where the 'yahoo group link' is,...i do not and other's may not either, so if you can please, could you post a link to your cache of 'Bitmaps' so that we can look over your effort's!.
  22. Keep it 'Rolling' Edwin P. !, 'Hubert' is going to have to "HIRE" you at some point for SC3!.
  23. Make's Sense Liam !. You Gotta Know When To Hold-Em, And Know When To Fold-Em!.
  24. Good Point SeaMonkey !,...however the change i would make to your idea,...is that for every attack, that there would be something like a 25% to maybey 50% chance of figuring the 'APPROXIMATE-AREA' location of the Carrier,...as in that it is located within for example,...a 9-Segment Tile area!. Finally!,...also, perhaps have a 10% to 25% chance of getting a 'Hard-Fix' on the Carrier's Exact location!.
