  1. I wanted to make a list of Campaigns available for the game so far. Please post if I am missing something, and I would be interested in listing any works in progress as well. Base Game: Task Force Thunder Task Force Narwick In Search of a Ghost Crossroads Trilogy Husan al Din- Red vs Red Marines: Semper Fi Syria El Derjine Forging Steel British Forces: Highland Games If you are patched is it necessary to load the Marines Semper Fi corrected campaign from the Repository?
  2. This is off topic a bit but I recall pictures of Dutch soldiers with long hair from the 70's. Was this just a reservist thing and not something to be found even today in front line troops? Even if it does exist today I'm not asking it to be modeled.
  3. Yeah I'm only half serious, but the tools are all there. US infantry as Jamaican IDF/Riot Police against uncons. MikeyD has already done an Uncon mod that would fit nicely. Edit-darn it, can't edit thread titles.
  4. I thought I’d do a wish list for flavor objects for the “Normandy” game while we’re still able to influence the development process. A wish list was done for CMSF after the initial release but by that time it was already too late for either technical reasons such as scenario compatibility or having it just be too low a priority. First here is a list of CMSG flavor objects and how they might relate to CM Normandy. Item: Air conditioners -not needed ATM –not needed Barrel- Need wood barrel, not blue plastic Bench- what we have now is a bus stop bench which we don’t need. Maybe a simpler wooden one? Low priority Trash Bin-not needed Crate- needed Oil Drum- certainly less common. Would be useful around a fuel depot. Junk- always need junk. Fountain- small fountains certainly much less common. A big one might be useful but low priority. Would it cease being a flavor object if it was large? Pallets- less common but still useful. Logs- needed Manhole-useful. Road signs- needed but made of wood of course. Poles- these are the short metal ones. I don’t think they existed. Pond- low priority. Rock- needed. Sack- very useful Street lights- different style but certainly needed. Tires- replace with wagon wheel? Bus Shelter- probably not needed. Stump- needed Traffic light- certainly less common and different style. Telephone pole- needed. Next we have items that were on people’s CMSF wish lists in these forums: Dead Cows- would be cool and is actually a running joke on these forums along with the cowbells. Haystacks. Too big to be a flavor object? Out houses- certainly present but would it really be a very small unenterable building that can block line of sight Horse wagons/carts- same as above. Water trough- useful Well- hand water pump- certainly nice to have- could a well provide cover? Clothes line with clothes hanging- Plough Tractor- too big for a flavor object? Pile of fire wood Abandoned but not destroyed cars- again too big? Suggested new terrain types/objects: Cemetary with headstones. Leaf layer for woods. Plowed earth wheat fields Vineyards Wood fence Wrought iron fence. Hedge Apple trees Thanks to Mord for many of these suggestions. What would you add to our wish list?
  5. Wow, all this posting from Steve must mean he doesn't have much work to do on CM:Afghanistan and the NATO module and we're very close to release!
  6. What, no comments on the new AT missiles? I knew the initial list was only partial. The full vehicle list may not even be decided on yet.
  7. And have them full of ammo to allow resupply. Both regular army and Uncon. Elmar is still hoping for the Shilka.
  8. Yes but we keep reliving it. You must not have seen the movie. I heard the Germans were delayed because they were in Moscow attending the Victory day parade.
  9. Eagle2, ever since Pvt Ryan was saved by Tom Hanks in WWII he has become quite a joker. Its compensation for the tremendous survivor guilt he feels.
  10. Mike, your better at modding than making analogies. Anyway, this is really the wrong forum but does it snow in Afghanistan enough in the populated areas that it should be included? Oh I know there's plenty of snow in the high mountains, but how often did operations take place there? Once one guy wanted snow in Syria too.
  11. Well it was said it will be any possible combination of enemies for no particular reason. Maybe that will change when they actually start developing it though.
  12. That's the plan as I understand it and I believe the way they'll handle it you'll be happy to know Russia won't neccesarilly be the "bad" guy.
  13. Yes since you asked, infantry screenshot would be nice.
  14. We need more screenshots for you to prove it!
  15. Obviously it's easy for a Russian company to get Russian voice actors that we'll hear even in the English version of the game, but I'm curious who did the voice acting for the Afghanis, both Red and Blue side. I believe there's several languages spoken in Afghanistan but at least one must be prevalent. Any one reading this forum that can answer?
  16. I've considered making a simple paper war game based on CMSF. It would be brigade level units with maybe a few specialty battallions thrown in along with air squadrons. Is there any interest in this? Sure the Western Allies are guaranteed to win the war but to win the game they must win quickly and decisively.
  17. Lat October Steve said this. Of course that was 6 months ago and things may have changed but I still hope we get them. Also here is where I make my standard pitch for a Syrian truck.
  18. Maybe he wanted Combat Mission Campaigns released or else.
  19. According to Wikipedia this is the current order of Battle of the Syrian Army. Is it essentially unchanged since 2008? It would be useful to know for scenario purposes. Thanks 3 Corps HQ 1st Corps Damascus covers from Damascus and the fortified zone and south to Der'a near the Jordanian border 2nd Corps Zabadani covers north of Damascus, to Homs and includes Lebanon. 3rd Corps Aleppo based in the north and covers Hama, the Turkish and Iraqi borders, the Mediterranean coastline and is tasked with protecting the complex of CBW and missile production and launch facilities. Controls the Syrian Navy 10 divisions - each with three active and one reserve brigade. 7 Armoured Divisions (1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th).[3] 9th Armored Division served in the 1991 Gulf War as the Arab Joint Forces Command North reserve and saw little action.[4] The 5th Division, at that time an infantry formation, invaded Jordan during the events of Black September in Jordan, 1970. It was reinforced with two armoured brigades. After an ineffectual defence by the Jordanian 40th Armoured Brigade, the 5th Division's attack was turned back on 22 September 1970 mostly through the efforts of the Royal Jordanian Air Force. (Pollack, Arabs at War, 2002, p.338-340) 3 understrength mechanised divisions (4th, 7th, and 10th) - each with one mechanized and two motorized brigades The Defense companies were transformed into the 569th Armoured Division, which then became the 4th Armoured Division.[5] 4 independent infantry brigades 14th as Saiga Division (Command?) with 3 Special Forces regiments; plus ten independent regiments 2 independent artillery brigades 2 independent anti-tank brigades Missile Command with three Surface-to-surface missile brigades (each with three battalions), One brigade with FROG-7, one brigade with SS-21 Scarab, one brigade with Scud-B/C/D. Two coastal defence missile brigades (one with 4 SS-C-1B Sepal launchers, one with 6 P-15 Termit launchers, alternative designation SS-C-3 'Styx'). Also they are strong rumors that Syria received C-802 systems and 100 missiles from Iran. One border guard brigade The Republican Guard, a division equivalent with one artillery regiment, one mechanised brigade, and three armoured brigades.
  20. Say you're in dire straits to an attacking enemy or you're attacking and the perfect target appears and you've used up all your air and/or artillery assets already. Never fear, your upper echolon has an emergency reserve. However it will cost you victory points to use so use it wisely. Any comments on making something like this available to scenario designers?
  21. Do you mean as far as features are concerned or subject matter?
  22. Well at the job, our re-write of our data processing system was three years over due so I can sympathize. I look foward to playing the Bundeswehr in CMSF soon (I hope).
  23. Any one with issues with uniform details has to take it up with Snowball, not Battlefront as Snowball did all the graphic art and even redid the vehicles Battlefront had already done for CMSF. Alex has the advantage here since he can speak Russian.
