  1. Wooohoo! Me wants a mod that makes HTs honk when someone gets in their way!
  2. I had the exactly same problem - well not exactly: I did also play a lot of QBs in the early stages of NA with mostly Italians vs. British (me playing the Italians). All battles were between 500 and 1000 pts. I bought my Italian troops myself, the British units were purchased by the AI. The outcome was almost ever devasting with platoons of invulnerable Matildas or Valentines killing off my Italian tanks. Finally I got the impression that about 9 out of 10 British tanks used by the AI were either Matildas or Valentines. While I understand, that there are units in the game that are pretty much invulnerable to certain other units in the game (like Matildas to anything but german 88-guns) because this was also the case in reality and does indeed play out very well in normal scenarios, it does take some of the fun out of QBs because there is no way to determine a restriction of these, 'invulnerable' units - apart from increasing their price with rarity. There really needs to be some way to restrict the maximum number of these units used in QBs or a switch to not allow these units in QBs at all.
  3. I remember this one incident back in CMBO when a single Kingtiger went on rampage and devoured my Shermans and M10s. Eventually it was a Stuart that killed the big cat by penetrating a weak point in the side of its turret. But anyway, I guess in the end tactics are more important than just who has the "better tank" - which is after all a matter of opinion. It's not necessarily more difficult to take out a Tiger with a Sherman, than it is to take out a Sherman with a Tiger - it's just different.
  4. I'd slightly prefer the snow covered ones - it's kinda more keeping the 'original' character of the vehicles. With the whitewashed camo they tend to look too similar to each other.
  5. Guess he'll end up doing an Africa winter-terrain mod so we'll be able to use those great vehicles of him there, too.
  6. So I guess there won't be an R-rated version? Well, then I'll have to go with the general version. Great Work, nevertheless.
  7. AFAIK Rangers are available in Italy from July '43 to Feb. '44. (At least that was the case before Patch 1.01). Did you already post the NA-thing in the bug-report thread? And do you have exact timeframes of their service there? I really would like to have some rangers in NA but I need yet someone of more profound knowledge than myself to confirm that Rangers were in service as early as Nov '42 (Assault on Port of Arzew in Algeria) to make an official request in the bug-report thread.
  8. You can at least try it. If the unit is within terrain that can obstruct sight, like woods, brushes, rocks, foxhoes, trenches, &c. and the enemy is not within close range, they have a good chance that they vanish from his sight (He still knows, where your troops should be, but he cannot see them). You can also try hiding behind slopes or even in open terrain - though its harder. Chances for success are generally higher if there's a commanding officer with "stealth" ability (guess that's what it's called) within command range. However unless you move them away, they are still vulnerable to area fire (which the AI for a reason does not use?) - so you might try to sneak away in a case like this. When the enemy can no longer see your unit, he will see a stationary position marker instead at the exact position, where your unit was last seen. (You can't see your own position marker yourself, so the only way to know wheter your unit can no longer be seen by the enemy is when he stops shooting at you - that is unless he's using area fire. ) Shoot at the house. Putting enough firepower on a building does supress anything inside it - sometimes even a single MG will be enough. You might shoot at the house, but some shots will go through windows or penetrate the walls and possibly hurt the ones inside (the bigger the building, the more protection it does offer for units inside it - so you will need more firepower to supress units in heavy buildings). A unit pinned inside a building might recognize it's too dangerous to stay in it any longer and will crawl out of it. But some just won't leave until you've taken them out. Others might have already left without you noticing it. So remember to check now and then if anybody's left in there. Don't waste ammo by firing at a building just because you think a unit might be inside. However if you know that there is someone in there (shooting at you) and you want to do something about it, be determined: Use as much firepower as possible and smoke them out quickly - attacking a building over several minutes just drains your ammo. If you've got anything with a big gun in the area, like a tank, it can be useful to just level the building and use infantry to check on the remains (often there will be survivors). Or use flamethrowers to set it on fire (units will leave a burning building immediately - so have some MGs ready for them when they do). Hope this helps.
  9. And judging by the way he looks, he'll beat the cr@p out of me if I ever doubt that again. Actually I think "Sherwood Foresters" is a pretty cool name, too... (Now if you'll excuse me...I have to check if my front door is locked properly.)
  10. "Sherwood Rangers"? Sounds pretty cool, me thinks... definitely better than "Sherwood Foresters". Now, I wonder if they were wearing tights. (Yes, now I'm sure, someone WILL kill me for that...)
  11. Whoooooohooooo!!! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
  12. Yes, there are two kinds of hedges the high ones(representing dense, bocage like hedges) which are non-passable for vehicles (including tanks) and the small ones (size of a stonewall). What I actually meant to say was that the light green hedges are not high hedges, but small ones. AFAIK they use a different, smaller BMP (#1217). You may of course use those small hedges as much as you want - but I don't know whether they will display the high hedges BMP properly.
  13. Now, I don't dare to ask, but there was a "Sherwood Foresters" regiment in the British Army? Hehe, just kidding... Did they wear tights? No, really just a joke. (I have the strange feeling someone is going to kill me for that...)
  14. Sorry, my mistake - the thread should actually read: "Married-Men in Italy". Could anybody give me some brief and basic information about the British "Littlejohn" who used to have fun with Italian girls in the Daimler Armored Car? Thanks.
  15. Thanks MDA, that's exactly what I was looking for. Great!
  16. Maybe you should check the BMPs again. High hedges should be BMP #1217. (Not sure whether there is a winter BMP, though). If you replaced the correct BMP, and you still can't see a difference, maybe there are no high hedges in the games you play. Have you tried setting a test game with high hedges in the editor? (use the dark green hedges, not the light green ones). Hope this is of some help.
  17. Do leg'sch di nieda!* *(Your dedication to improve this game by contributing repeatedly excellent mods like the above one is very much appreciated, thank you very much.)
  18. Just being curious: Could anybody give me some brief and basic information about the British "Littlejohn-adaptor", used on the Daimler Armored Car? Thanks.
  19. Absolutely marvelous! Maybe it's just me, but I can't help thinking about some destroyer in the middle of the North Atlantic, shooting at a German sub with a tank turret (AP only - of course )
  20. Cool! Now all we need is some red wine and that funny shaped bread...
  21. Guess M.D.'s right. If you're using nVidia drivers, you should try an older driver version or need to deactivate the Anti Aliasing (latter worked for me). But to be sure, first take a look at this: CMAK Troubleshooting Guide
  22. Hehe, sorry but I already knew that one...hard to believe I found it first, isn't it? Well, thanks anyway. Don't want to sound like a nitpicker, but the forward facing mortar carrier actually is an M21, which is accurately modeled in the game (yes, it IS different from both the M4/M4A1 - I tested it ) However I don't see the difference between the M4 and the M4A1. Nothing that important really, but I just can't stand the thought I might have overseen some special feature that comes with the improvement from the M4 to the M4A1 in the game (like maybe it's able to fire Explosive Hamsters, or something ).

  24. Thank you! Me love you all, sniff. (Now there should be a Graemlin for expressing one breaking out in tears of joy and gratitude - as there isn't I had to write it down )
  25. All right, maybe I really am obsessed with those halftracks, but what exactly is the difference between the M4 and the M4A1 Mortar Carrier in the game? Except for the name they are exactly the same. Same weapons, same ammo, same RoF, same engine specs, same no. of crew, same armor, even the same price! In reality, AFAIK the M4 was not supposed to fire its mortar from within the HT, except in emergency situations, whereas the M4A1 could - but I don't see that simulated in the game. And if they really are identical, why bother at all taking in two versions into the game? Any clarification would be much appreciated, thanks.
