  1. I got APos on gamers gate during the holiday sale along with 5other games. I installed it and jumped into a quick mission, wholly crap is that Ui screwy. I turned it off and moved on to another game. I'll come back to it down the road, just not in the mood to learn some funky Ui right now. I do play CMBN mostly RT, I find it the most fun for company sized engagements. Once it gets up to battalion I have to switch to wego out of necessity. How about blending both Rt and wego by allowing you to playback the last 2 or 3 minutes of game time for viewing only. This way the community isn't fractured into wego or RT. The best of both in one form. My problem with wego is with loading rearming then unloading of squads came take several minutes because you have wait for the action phase. There are several other cases where I prefer real time to make corrections. CMBN is a perfect blend of realism and enjoyable game. It could use some Ui improvements to max out the enjoyment. If I want simulation I would play steel beasts, dcs a10c, or command ops battles from the bulge.
  2. I do like the Idea of 4 players on a team each taking a company or two in a tcp / ip MP game. It would make large multi battalion battles more fun. I also like the idea of an MP lobby to find people looking for games.
  3. I agree as well, the germans had the cool uniforms, guns, tanks, but most of all the tactics is what i give them the most kudos for...to bad those brave men where committed to a no win war by a bumbling leader. Tactical brilliance with strategic failure. I do feel a little guilty playing germans against the US, so much more fun leading the facists against the red hordes.
  4. I just looked at the commonwealth page again and it doesn't say that paras are in or not. I would assume that they are gonna be added with the market garden module along with FMJs.....makes more sense. Common wealth is baisic UK, scotts, canadiens, poles forces. Like I said you could do a great 30 corps campaign, they never made it to arnhem anyways cuz it was a bridge too far. You might need FMJs though if your going for historical accuracy.
  5. So if they are in cobra, do they get a simulated carpet bombing like the cobra / st lo breakout ? Not sure if the panzer Lehr was in the path of that, I'll have to read up on that. Sounds like a good campaign, enjoyed the bloody ride.
  6. I doubt cm online mp only will ever happen, BF is to committed to their grog style historical fan base to let that happen....thank god.
  7. You could do a 30corps campaign and just leave out Arnhem with Brit 1st airborne because there are no Brit paras yet.
  8. So this is the same action as the bloody ride, but from the 2nd Battalion point of view? Or a follow on of the same units in the bloody ride?
  9. You know, I've felt the US INF was more uber in this game due to the garand. The thompson seems leathal up close as well. I wish buddy aid would allow you to aquire STG44s and MP40s from the dead. So many times I have a depleated squad of 3 men running around with mausers, which is totally worthless in CM. Bolt action rifles suck unless there's a sniper scope on it.
  10. As an American I fully prefer east front over west front. I think that If you are are historically savy enough to play CM, reguardless of nationality you would know how much more important and interesting the east is over the west. This is why so many of us CM customers are chomping at the bit for a crack at the new engine going east ASAP. This release schedule is so slow, I fear that by the time it is all done the engine will be a dinosaur and will be pushed aside for CMx3. But then look at HPS and John Tiller games still going strong on an ancient 1995 UI and 2D graphics. I'm all for East front ASAP, but I will buy and play all the games / modules reguardless of release schedule when it comes down to it.
  11. Just finished this campaign, it was pretty fun. Got a major victory on veteran. The battles played out pretty well. .....Spoilers..... I only had problems with the counterattack battle with all INF and 2 HTs. The mortars were hell, I crossed the river and just ceased fire to save casualties in a futile battle. I would maybe extend the map in the setup zone, kind of sitting ducks for mortars from the start. Nice AT gun trap at the church in the second to last battle, would have bagged my only tank, but for some reason I chose to avoid the road and blast through the compound wall with HE. I then assaulted throught the breach with my panther and a pzgr platoon, totally surprising the AT gun and taking the church with out a casualty. This then allowed me to build up at the church to cross the river and win the battle. The rescue KG Philips battle was interesting, I blasted an alternate path for them with engi to avoid the road which would have been a blood bath. I left all my pzgr mounted in HTs ready for counter attack and staged on the road behind the farms. The US Inf that attacked in the rear attempting to surround me got massacred by the grenadiers and HTs. This was just luck on my part that I was in the right place at the right time. I held the farms with just 4 panthers and 2 FO pouring down Arty.
  12. Has any one tried making cmak senarios in cmbn yet with this software ?
  13. To be honest, I think BF should go east after common wealth module. I've had enough of the west front. It sounds like they may not go east until after the bulge game. It maybe a year or two from now.
  14. That sounds vague but very promising at the same time. Kind of like "just wait and see" overtone. Any chance for a roadmap / insight to any of these future works planned in the near future ?
  15. I've played both games and CMBN is by far superior. The eye candy is cool in AP, but the eye candy in CMBN is good enough. I can think of a dozen better UI or game play improvements that would take priority over just adding eye candy for CMBN. Adjustable waypoints is one thats doable for instance. An operational / strategic layer for a psuedo dynamic campaign is a must, and would be a game changer. APOS has this and it's ok, but think how good BFC could do it if they tried. I'd like to see it developed like a module so that those that don't care about it don't have to get it. There is a demand for it, I've seen lots of threads about people wishing for it or trying to use a third party program. We all were heartbroken when CMC died.....Can BFC please think about giving it a shot with the new engine ? More work on AI in QBs for single player and a map generator like CMx1 would be good. As you can see, theres so much more to improve than to just waste time with eye candy.
  16. Or I guess I could PM the Campaign author and ask for the text file to repack it ?
  17. This tool is cool for opening up campaign battles. If You make changes, can you repackage the battles and play the campaign, or as individual battles only ?
  18. I'd like to set up a system for single player, but no random map generator seriously limits this ability. The old ROQC system was cool for cmbb, but no go with CMBN.
  19. Does this work with campaign battles ? One of my peevs is running out of time in the middle of a great campaign battle. I would love to be able to add more time. Unlimited time in all battles and adjustable waypoints are my 2 most vital improvement requests. Can you apply this to saved games ?
  20. This is a cool system that works well. I was hoping it could be applied to CMBN, but no go with no map generator.
  21. What about a coop campaign ? Seems cooler to me personaly, not possible I know, but would be great for a battalion size senario. Each player takes a company and goes against the AI.
  22. + 1 to column movement for a whole platoon/ grouped vehicles. I love this game, but anything more than a company and a couple platoons of vehicles is a headache to manage. I finished the last battle of the Strength and courage campaign, at a battalion and a half + engagement, it was a ball breaker headache of management. I think this game is great at big multi battalion engagements, it just needs a better system of giving orders to companies and have them move as a group in a lodgical way. I guess what I'm getting at is I want better system for ordering companies as a whole along with vehicle column movement. I want to see regimental size engagements and not cringe at moving hundreds of squads around. just move companies or platoons and nothing lower.
  23. What about a box for if it's a campaign or single battle ?
  24. There are lots of frustrating moments with Arty, but this is realistic. Every tactical account of warefare i have ever read had some kind of snafu with calling in arty at some point....fog of war.
