  1. All the more reason, as I failed of completion in all of those referenced campaigns in which I participated briefly.
  2. Well, I have never participated in a ROW, so I withdraw my post indicating my interest. No point, since under the posted criteria I have no chance of playing.
  3. Sure, I'll try if you'll have me. And if you'll give me an idea of what an ROW-CMC campaign is about. Soviet side, please.
  4. Cool! And the game will be out soon; yes? No? Maybe? I don't know! Can you repeat the question?
  5. That's good news! Thanks, Hunter. Ike
  6. I've got the pre-order. Game starts some time on 14 March. Give me something to do while waiting for CMC. *sigh* Well, it's not CMC or even WW2 Online, but it's WW2 and multiplayer .... *sigh*
  7. *looks up and down the empty street, sighing when he sees the sidewalk cafe, tables empty, cups drying in the sun* Hello? Is no one here? *throws a rock at a rat eating the remains of a pastry on a table* Hello?
  8. I don't see what this has to do with a campaign. Given a map showing roughly the front of a regiment or corps, what exactly would your victory conditions be if all you are simulating is company sized raids on the other side's lines? </font>
  9. Seige of Leningrad. Perfect for small-unit operations as Soviet and German commanders patrolled and probed for a way to strangle the city or a way to break the seige. Battalion and Company-sized ops over relatively large areas.
  10. Well, I checked out the site and read the reviews and watched the trailer and read the forums and ... in short, I pre-ordered it. (I'd do that for CMC, also, if it was at that stage.) Seems like a smaller scope - squad level as infantry, platoon level or weak company level for armor - WW2 FPS, compared to WW2 Online. Which I played for .. way too long. Should be interesting and a nice change of pace from CM:BB and the upcoming CMC. BTW, I just finished one of the battles on the disk in CM:BB; don't remember which one, I was Soviet and concentrating on using the infantry.
  11. Just don't forget to email me when CMC is ready to buy, preferably early order please!
  12. None of the above. In fact, the lack of detail in the report of progress toward a release date indicates that the progress of detail toward a report of release date is progressing, and that progress - it may be inferred from the brevity of Hunter's post - is satisfactory at the time of the report.
  13. My thought on the utility of HT's is that they provide cross-country mobility that the trucks cannot, capable of - designers hope! - keeping up with the tanks cross-country. As several people have posted, the new CMC will hopefully give us a chance to use HT's to advantage. Ike
  14. And so, which of these three categories does Hunter's post fall into? All three!!!! Yeah!
  15. Well, heavens, if both google and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission believe that tritium is a substance useable in paint, far be it from me to disagree. Continue on with your discussion and I apologize for intruding.
  16. "IT" actually came delivered to the nearest railroad siding, as "IT" required an entire boxcar for shipment. The largest difficulty our group had, since it was a board game after all, was renting the state of Rhode Island for a year (or two; depended upon whether you took the "Quick Set-Up rule" or the "Optional Set-Up rule"). The players of "Campaign for North Africa" had it booked for a number of consecutive years starting immediately after CNA was published. Those of you who are old enough may recall the advertisements for "IT" on the old Ed Sullivan Show: "Right here on this very stage, World War Two with the original cast of players!" (chuckle)
  17. Ummm, and I think the radioactive material painted onto the gunsights and the watch faces was radium; tritium is an isotope of hydrogen and rather unlikely to be able to be painted onto anything, lads. All the other comments etc are correct, just got the name of the material wrong. Anyone who tried to "google" or "ask" using "tritium" would have been surprised and found out nothing about night sights. Wrist watch hands and numerals were formerly painted with such a paint as well.
  18. Actually, Ardem, the 1/285th stuff I had in mind was Micro-Armor; but yeah, Napoleonics and either paper or card paper tracks, like a board game not to mention those "casualty caps." *laugh* Sorry; we now return you to the 21st Century, where you're regularly scheduled fuss over an as-yet-unreleased game that promises to be absolutely great is in progress. Ike
  19. Cheer up, all! We could be moving miniatures in 1/285th scale over a table top. Speaking of "back in the day", eh?
  20. And the distance travelled in a turn is also affected by the type of movement order given to the unit. An order to "advance to contact" - however that might be worded in CMC - will give a different distance, all other things being equal, than will an order to "road march to XXX".
  21. Well, wouldn't that be one to "stay away from" re-creating in CMC? Same difficulties as the others mentioned: high unit densities, congested battlefields, etc.
  22. Now, me, I would have said that I thought Sergei had come back from having gone insance.
