  3. If you want to see another German made movie about Stalingrad, search for "Hunde, wollt ihr ewig leben?" "Stalingrad" itself is good, but it depends on the individual taste of every different one. Karl Vilsmayers intention was to provoke discussions, therefore this movie has pathetic or comradeship glorification, but also very realistic parts. It is more a play around some main characters (the leutnant, Schäfer,...). I do not know yet, if and what sources were used. This film uses every aspect of war on the eastern front (assault, attrition, sewer, death, POWs, massaker on civilians,...). The part with the captured russian Tanya seems more unbelievable.

  6. I am playing it also, but am using a very careful approach because of the fog. Whenever I will encounter mounting resistance there on one point I want to have as much firepower in the shortest possible time to pull out own pinned troops. The woods are scary, after every tree in this fog there may be the blairwitch. :eek:

  9. I generally doubt that there were US massacres, which were organisationally led. I only remember of bad circunstances and of some form of mistreating of German prisoners at the end of the war in May 1945 in the big improvised camps at the Rhein-wiesen, in the vicinity of Cologne and Bonn: Typhus, Cholera, starving, living in holes.
  10. Are there any? Up to now I have only Italian snow covered mountains with evergreen trtees and pines. I copied the winterized trees from CMBB, but what number do I have to give them?

  12. Strategists dreams come true: OSF. I wish it would be possible to have such huge and comprehensive operations (real ones!) for other theaters of war (like a Stalingrad campaign, or Leningrad, or Berlin, or or or). I think most of your and yours playtesters work is to get the enemy AI to function proper and somehow historically and requesting for the player. Thank you.
  13. I have the same problem sometimes also. But it appears only sporadicly, when I have been to long out in the internet (IE ?) or been playing a game which uses a lot of RAM and the like. The problem may be solved by restarting the PC.
  14. This rate of fire is reached when firing AA barrages against high flying planes.
  15. It gives the same advantage to units entrenched or hiding behind (in ) them as stone walls do. When an infantry unit hides behind it ( at least 15m next to it), it is seeable only to 0% (=100% cover). It is hard work to dislodge guns positioned from there.

  17. The "Assault" command is just like the "Advance" command, it only boosts up morale of the assaulting unit a liitle bit more and it slows down the movement and causes more fatigue. I use it only at close quarters against pinned enemy units, maybe one to six times a scenario. I seldom use it in rural areas, because the chance of getting pinned in the open is too high. When in a firefight against single units at close quarters (for example in a building) I order this unit in the next turn to assaul and to close range, thus creating hand-to-hand-combat with beefed up morale. In night scenarios the risk is too high of getting pinned by friendly fire.
  18. I think it is possible to make Krim-based scenarios within of OSF, the Campaign folders are only savedgames, so it is not possible to edit them. I think eichenbaum has mentioned that is possible to play CMBB in normal mode even with OSF installed.
  19. I reinstalled your OSF and the latest patch, and now, it is going smoothly. The landscape and the whole environment is fantastic, true. It catches the mood of fighting there nearly perfectly. TOE is very interesting. Keep up the good work!

  21. VLs are the key. The lenght of the scenarios seems to be important. But as artillery-'baits' only heavy equipment, like tanks, trucks or guns are "effective". The AI tends to bring all its guns against only one spot, so the next topic would be: Who do I induce the AI to use preparatory rolling barrages over the whole frontline?
