  1. I do use on occasion the spread out and shoot method, but I find it always goes bad when you bump into the german AT gun or the other tank.
  2. I have also read and seen in Yves Debays books that the Gurkhas in Afghanistan have taken up captured AK's and dropped their SA-80s because of the reliabilty issues.
  3. Would it be a good idea to make a foxhole in the middle of the street like that?
  4. Ignore the previous post, I just got the answer from Berlichtingen. The battle 'None Returned' was scrapped but the map is left over from this scrapped battle.
  5. I just downloaded the Sidi Salem map from Der Kessel and after I loaded up some forces a briefing screen comes up telling me about a battle named "None Returned" with US forces versus Germans. It played fine but I really want to play None returned but can't find it anywhere. Any heard of this battle? And any ideas why the map is including this weird briefing? I tried contacting the author, Berlichtingen but his e-mail keeps bouncing back.
  6. Hey Bannon DC, make sure you all tell us when you finish that map.
  7. I have heard of this technique but not for paratroopers per se, but for dropping partisan organizers and spys. I also remember that this was done by flying really slow and low using I think P0-2's and only droping in thick snow.
  8. I'll tell you why I lose, never see those damn AT guns until they fire.
  9. I am playing a night game in CMAK right now and similar things are happening. I am just chalking it up to the fact that fighting in the black of night is going to confuse you as well as your soldiers.
  10. I too will just add that waiting another year to get Romanians and all that was worth it. Same goes for Hungarian and other forces and details that make the entire game way far and above the rest of the gaming industry.
  11. Rune, I too would like to have these sent to me. I really enjoyed your Panzers in Finland battle.
  12. Kingfish-The CMBO British Operation is on the disk and takes place late war with some big hills entering Germany.
  13. Vienna Waltz is really good, but my favorite has to be the British Operation in CMBO where you have to capture a bridge, anyone know who the author is?
  14. How can you tell which files on the site are in zip files?
  15. My computer setup is just like UXcva and I am using 1.0.3 of CMBB. For some reason the icon never changes to a simpletext icon after I rename the file before downloading. I will triple check everything again tonight and see what happens.
  16. Sorry about the confusion, I did add them into the Scenarios folder where all the other battles are listed. Same with the maps. I put those into the QBM folder. Does the icon of the file change once you have renamed the files? Even after after I have saved the link to disk and renamed it with the appropriate ending the file icon still shows up as a Internet Explorer related icon.
  17. Yeah I option clicked the download button and the menu came up. I selected save link to disk and another box came up asking me where I wanted to save it and under what name 'click.php' was the default which I changed to the battle name and then added the correct ending. I saved them to the desktop and after download I moved them into the battle folder. I start the game up and the battle is not listed there.
  18. I just downloaded a bunch of maps and battled from this site and tried renaming them the way UXcva mentioned and it still did not work for either maps or battles. I did put them in the right folders and using the right file ending. I downloaded them while clicking on them holding the option key and saved the link to disk. What gives?
  19. How common was it to use these big bomb load aircraft in these close support roles? Would these loads not be used for strikes than on close support?
  20. The other great thing about the desert is using dust to trick your oponent or trying to reduce your dust output in order to sneak up on an enemy.
  21. Has anyone seen a motar round drop down an open hatch? I have tried to replicate this in the game but I think the probabilities are so low that it would take a couple of years before I see that.-But my favorite war story is the plucky 6 pounder Valentine that destroyed an entire German armor advance using shoot and scoot tactics. The tank ended up with 9 tank kills to his credit. The AI could never spot the tank till he had alrady fired and was reversing.
  22. This was apparently a problem for Marine M4 crews versus Japanese tanks. So much so that Marine M4's were reportedly firing HE at Japanese tanks in order to 'killl the tank.
  23. Does anyone know of any scenarios/battles in CMBB that take place in very mountainous terrain? I want to try out the different Mountain troops as well as fight battles in very restrictive terrain.
  24. I forgot to mention that in the tests that I ran, quite a few of the Russian PZ-VA's did not fire a single Tungsten round the entire game but yet the Russians still came out ahead.
