  1. I was reading a graphic novel titled `Battlefields` by Garth Ennis and the book contains a appendix where they note some of the sources they used when writing the novel. In this I came across this supposed quote from Gavin where he says `If our infantry would fight, this war would be over by now...Our artillery is wonderful and our air corps is not bad. But the regular infantry-terrible. Everyone wants to live to a ripe old age. The sight of a few Germans drives them into their holes`. I cant find the entire quote but was would like to know the entire context was about. Did he really think that poorly of the regular US infantry?
  2. Any hints on completing the 4th mission? I can`t believe I am tasked with clearing 2 hamlets and moving a company through all without armor support. I cant clear the hamlets as I can't sight the opposition to call in motors without getting killed first and I am told to save artillery for the next mission. I have raged quit on this a few times.
  3. I found this tidbit interesting, "And the British side did take disproportionate casualties in Normandy. And it’s largely for tactical reasons. I’m not going to get into it, it’s way too complicated to explain, but yes the British did suffer very high losses against the Germans for a variety of reasons. That was not the case on the US side." What does he mean by that? My understanding is that since the British had to contend with the majority of the armored units in Normandy they inevitably suffered more tank losses.
  4. Battlefront recommend I try the solution below. It fixed all of my problems: > 1) Right-click on the CMBN application. Select "Show Package Contents". > 2) In the window that pops up, right click on the Contents folder and select "Get Info". > 3) In the Info window, click the lock in the lower right hand corner. Enter your password at the prompt. This should "open" the lock. > (The permissions for Contents should look fairly normal.) > 4) Click the gear button at the bottom of the Info window and select "Apply to enclosed items". > 5) "Close" the lock. Close the Info window. > 6) Try to run CMBN.
  5. Here are the instructions I got from Battlefront that fixed this problem for me: > 1) Right-click on the CMBN application. 6. I also report the same problem but it only is confined to CMBN. After patching to 2.12 the game dos not launch. I hit the icon to start the game and it just bounces and does nothing. I have reinstalled the patch and still get the same results. It worked fine before the patch. CMFI has also been patched to 1.12 and still launches. Permissions for both game are identical. I am running a MAC OS X 10.8.5 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB.
  7. I re-installed the patch and still get this problem. Additionally the floating icons for infantry and tanks are missing and are only black boxes and I get lots of flickering. THis happens when both anti-aliasing is enabled and also when off.
  8. I have never used this mod and I am also getting this problem.
  9. I downloaded a new campaign from the repository but cannot figure out where to put the .btt file. In my CM BN folder on my MAc there is only one folder titled `documents`. Any idea where the campaign folder is?
  10. I too notice the lack of heavy weapons especially the Vickers guns. I remember in CMBO using these extensively. I was shocked to see them missing entirely in the Scottish Corridor campaign. Does anyone know why these units are missing in the campaign? Also, while we are at it,occasionally CW forces have to take a building but with a lack of SMGs how is this accomplished?
  11. Thanks for all you help. It was the last mission and I just will move onto another campaign. Can anyone recommend a good historical CM campaign?
  12. I am stuck on mission 16 where you have to defend the village from what appears to be half of the entire German army. I have placed my troops as well as I can but no matter where I place them the get annihilated during the artillery barrage delivered by what feels like the Battleship Bizmark. Even where I get a few troops to survive I only get reinforced by 1 churchill and 3 achilles. Not matter what I do, I get creamed and then the campaign ends with a major defeat. I understand I am supposed to lose a few missions but I would like to see the end of the campaign. Any pointers on how to get to the end of the campaign?
  13. I am currently playing the British Campaign and just began a mission with a two man Forward Operator unit that cannot call in any artillery or Air support. I thought that as long as your team had 2 guys they should be able to call stuff in. Any reason why I am seeing this?
  14. Flamethrowers are a must. I know, I know they are not that useful but the British had a a whole tank devoted to this. Surely in order to be accurate this should be included.
  15. All of my crashes have occured during solo play while playing turn based. I can send you the most recent save if that helps.
  16. I should also add that I am running the game on the lowest possible settings and patched to 1.21. This really sucks, I am near the end and the game decides to go an quit.
  17. Ok, replayed the last battle on the Brit campaign except this time I save the game every 5 turns. Sure enough with 20 minnutes left the game crashes with an out of memory message. Now when I try to load any saved games fromt he menu it crashes. I am patched up to 1.21!!!! ANy help would be appreciated!
  18. I just recieved this issue near the end of the last mission in the Brit campaign. Its the mission where I am fighting in downtown Damascus at night. I was playing turn based against the computer and as I hit to have the action start the 'out of memory' message came up and closed the game. I have been playing for over two hours and lost everything! I am patched up to 1.21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I am playing as the British in campaign mode. It is the game where the Syrians counterattack when all you get is 1 Challenger and no other AT assets apart from Artillery. I replayed this game last night as I had lost, and I was able to use the FO's. I think this weirdness is not consistent but does make the game extremely frustrating when you have patched and started the campaign anew and this happens.
  20. And even when you do there still will be times when an FO can still not call in strikes.
  21. I started the campaign after I had already installed the new patch.
  22. This is getting extremely frustrating. In a Brit campaign game I selected an FO in which all the artillery was denied. The artillery wan not being used had not been called upon for a while and was just idle. By chance I selected the rifle group in the same building and all the artillery showed up as being able to be called upon! Both teams has just finished running into the building were both 'tired' but yet the FO was the only one in which it was deined. WHAT GIVES!
  23. I have downloaded a couple of scenarios from the repository and only some of the missions come up on the menu to play. I put them all in the right folder and checked that they all had the same file extensions, (rar) and yet only some work. Any suggestions?
  24. I have also noticed that on a couple of single games that over the course of the game a spotter can go from red cross to green cross. I would select an FO have him call it in then a couple of minutes lated I would reselect him to call in another mission and all of a sudden all of his available artillery is shown as having a red cross. Then I would wait reselect him and it was back to green crosses. Is this some kind of feature to represent that he is too busy or is this a bug?
  25. I also noticed a time when I had an Abrams firing at some insurgents hiding in a forest. I zoomed in to see from the insurgents POV. Since I directed the Abrams to use target light, we was using his 7.62 gun. OVer the space of a minute the tree they were hiding under was actually losing branches from the incoming fire. Slowly they started losing their cover and were killed. I have never seen dynamic foilage before.
