  1. For the HTs Gautrek is/was/did mod them with dust. I don't remember if he uploaded them. Shermans are still nekked. Wicky was going to do some when cricket season ended a while ago. Maybe he went down under for their season just starting. Or maybe he will post here. Please
  2. Collection index One of my favourite places for info on Korea, Vietnam and WWII.
  3. Webs, any colour photos? I lightened the US M4A3 76W with Irfanview (gamma and red blue adjustments) to a tan. I will renumber Gautrek's CW jeep for US. I'll upload them all to cmmods when I get them finished. Patboy's lineup of DAK units with the flaking paint is my choice for repainted salvage that the countries used. I'm playing Hans' SO, Abu Agueila right now.
  4. IMO the CMAK Chaffee looks fine and in CM terms can represent M48s. It is included in the squadron of my Brer Rabbit battle.
  5. Hans knows better than I do. I think they had some T55 Soviet tanks. Best bet for CM is to use my Korea mod for Panthers to represent T34s. CMH online has good info. I'll get you a link.
  6. Unless you google search for AIW, then first you get ATI All in Wonder video card stuff. Ahhhh, the internet. At least google says "you screwed this word up so badly, did you mean ..." lol BTW some of the mods are bigger and contain the smaller mods in them. No sense having both (maybe). Read my texts at cmmods. After you have all the mods, go get Hans stuff at TSD.
  7. Get the cmmos rule sets and open the file sets IIRC All the numbers are in there.
  8. If you get another chance, take the train through Belgium to Luxemborg. Lots of history there too. Nice people willing to share stories.
  9. What ever happened to this idea? Znarf, I saw your other post and remembered something you had an idea about.
  10. I forwarded it to my wife 3 meters away from me and she was able to watch it with me looking over her shoulder. Could be the station removes older stories? Or your firewall or some other security settings is preventing a connection.
  11. " Don't get cocky. " At that time I was supposed to be "working" or I would have given you some suggestions and a list of mods. I have several zips of different sizes trying to help the dial up crowd. Anything you need other that what is already there? Only takes me minutes (or more) to throw something together.
  12. It is working for me the way it is, IMO. Anyone that has been following the recent threads on language and sanitation would enjoy going to the db and reading these notes. BTW guys, I thought I knew a bit about WWII until I started playing CM. The games are as deep as you want them to be (I think?) As I started playing scenarios for other than USA, I realised I didn't know squat. These comments you are posting are really helping me to understand CM and WWII. I am venturing into scenario design. The CMAKdb and all this information is an invaluable resource for me. I hope it makes all our scenarios better. Thanks to all. Now if someone could put together a JasonC How To searchable db.....
  13. I found some clour pics at the Tanks! website. 1956 Tan Syrian PZIVH and StugIIIG, Israeli Cromwells in both tan and green. I renumbered Gautrek's M5 dusty halftrack to the US M3 for a tan dusty AIW look. I'm still working on a tan Sherman. For uniforms all I have found is an Osprey bookcover with brownish green and brown unis.
  14. This could fit into the other subforums, but most people come here anyway. I just watched a program on our local cable channel called "Veterans News and Views". We are a retirement town with quite a few WWII vets. I see a lot of veterans license plates at the auto dealership where I work. More than one Pearl Harbor survivor. They interviewed Andy Rasmussen of the "Filthy Thirteen" with the 101st Airborne. The movie "The Dirty Dozen" was loosely based on these guys. He told his tale of becoming an Airborne soldier, going to England, surviving D-Day. He told of his jump mission to take Ste. Mare Eglise. He had a broken ankle from the jump and managed to shoot three Germans from the bocage where he hid, before he himself was shot. For three days he hid in the bocage, plugging the hole with his finger, living on rations and one canteen. He was captured and said he was treated well. In his opinion, the Germans knew the war was over for them. They took him to a hospital where captured American doctors treated him. He told the doctors to take care of the badly wounded first. The bullet is still in him today. 28 days later the Allies came through and freed the hospital and the men. I came home from work and the wife was watching the program. I missed some of the interview. She said it was very good, and just couldn't imagine this white haired, thin, old timer, with a Mohawk haircut and face paint. Just thought I'd share the story. (I'm lucky to have a wife like her)
  15. I have a RL and I come here to get away from it. I avoid peng and waffle but do enjoy and learn from some of the better posts. Thank you guys for giving.
  16. I've emailed Hans and the Admiral. I don't have the final version either.
  17. I don't PBEM but I use the Helper's Gamma adjustment feature non stop because of my dieing (darkening)CRT monitor. Thanks to Sergei for that tip.
  18. Hans' latest at TSD Small Battles, Search and Destroy Version 1 Length 24 Variable Size Small Date October 1945 Region Other Axis German Allies American Brief Description November 1966 Bravo Company 2nd Battalion 18th Infantry, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division conducts a 'search and destroy' mission in South Vietnam near the Cambodian border against suspected Viet Cong and North Vietnamese support bases. ---------- Good vs AI fight. I had to replay more than once and try different strategies before I could win.
  19. I did hear from Wendy yesterday. I will forward the letter to you.
  20. "An operation doesn't necessarily have to be balanced all the way. Let's say that a five-battle operation is decided in battle three. Then you can end it with a ceasefire agreement or by surrendering." What, quit?! never, lol "But there are many ways for keeping the operation interesting throughout the fight. One way to achieve balance is a constant stream of reinforcements. ..." Long maps can be a problem if the reinforcements have to travel too far. "However, an operation doesn't have to be exactly 'balanced' to be enjoyable. Indeed, an operation can begin with one player being the underdog and struggling hopelessly while trying to pull out of the way of a superior attacker. Drive to Morain CMAK The attacker can't be stopped from taking the objectives, but it is possible to cause losses while keeping own core force intact. warmonger's The Forest Battle Then, after a couple of battles, the roles change and the previous attacker now has to stand fast to prevent a counter-attack from taking the objectives back." HSG First Town Liberated Good choices!
  21. Looks good from the jpeg. I like how you include real photos. I try to do that now with my mods.
  22. I have played a few ops and tested a few ops against the AI. I have read some reviews of ops. Never made one. I find that if I do well in the beginning battles, the later ones can be boring. I get that same impression from other people's reviews. It is very hard to balance the first battle for a broad audience then have it stay balanced through the series. Just some food for thought.
