  1. If the other side moved its land based garrisons (Malta, Algier, Syria, Alexandria. Italy thinks hey lets take AFrika and joins...
  2. Perhaps I slept in history but this seems a little bit strange to me. Perhaps tone down the German fleet a bit ...or much? => aka Invasion would be really risky?
  3. I would vote for option 1 right now and option 2 or at least tone the feature way down... Other changes I would be glad to: turn down amphib range. (Nice feature to be able to attack amphibs already). and only give a certain percentage chance to switch captial to egypt (for example 80%) leave the towns at 5 ...cairo erhaps at 8... and give the English units a chce to surrender for example 25%. This is all to force the player to spend more attention to England. Give England an Engineer in the Beginning to fortify its beaches and they should be fine.
  4. ITs simply that these scripts take out some fun for me. If I can leave UK undefended because its even an advantgae to lose it (US and UDSSR join much earlier) etc. simply bad play is rewarded. + I can use my troopsm uch more aggressive as in reall life becaue I dont have to worry as the Brtitains did in the 2nd world ar. Reducing amphib operations..not a real problem is first you have ship your troops to England and build up point cant simply travel over the ocean. It would make the traditional and real landing area England an france much more attractive. The advantage of this would be simply to leave more options open how a game plays out and not artificially limit the options of the players.
  5. Liam with the US I can live. England is not so defenseless anymore... Well the new habour makes it simpler .. Still, not wanting to surrender or not having the capability to fight on: Industrial basis to fight on and supply your troops in the field....? As I said transports should not be able to hide in the ports .. The royal navy should be able to prevent any invasion if forwarned by bombers etc. Fighters are not so great at taking out ships anymore so the axis would be hard pressed to take on the brits on the sea. Give england perhaps and enginerr early on so they can start to fortify the beaches. 2. Siberians if the Rusians left the east undefende before Japan is tied down with the US (and even with indochina etc. they took on the SU!) I think a Siberian transfer would be a last resort so early (with the possibility of a backlash) Only after Pearl Habour I think the east was really secure for the UDSSR 3. Yes the US surely would have conscripted many men but would it be not more helpful to reduce the range of amphib convoys further and let the US declare war on the Axis if it spots transports 9-15 tiles out on see with transports (3-4 turns before the...ample time to prepare defenses and sent the ships out to sink the enemy?. Reducing the range of transoports would make long range sea invasions harder. and more relalistic. I think the scripts defend bad playing from the consequences. If you dont plan the defense of England... Well than you should pay the consequences ..but please no artificial scripts...
  6. SC2 is very well balanced..WAW I don´t know right now. Still, some measures to reach this balnce leave a bitter flavour in my mouth. These are the automatic scripts which for are hard to justify based "on the real" war. These are for example: - Siberian transfer beginning of 1941 => even before Japan was tied down in the war all troops are ordered to fight in Europe? Shouldnt there be at least the possibility if such a move had been made that Japan would have said..ok lets conquer the indefensive Rusians? - Switching Capital in case of London gets conquered... Ok perhaps a chance for an exil government in Egypt I could live with and a certain %chance that troops dont surrender . But that suddenly Egyypt is able to support the whole english army... Food , oil, payment, etc. Where does the industrial base come from and why didnt they build it up befoere England fails. Besides why does Germany gain not "plunder bonus" when taking London.... - Home defense army poping up in the US. Kind of "Retrun of the KING" style of ghost army showing suddenly up... (Ok its hard to imagine that amphibious transport cross the Atlantik anyway....
  7. Lend lease was already disputed in its time. Imagine the discussion in the congress to support a lost cause. IMO its allready to much that the supply of Egypt goes up and capital is switched to Alexandria. I have problems to imagine that in reality something like this would have happend + suddenly the infrastructure appears to support a large army fighting siomewhere in th world... If the UK players is not careful enough to not lose England ..well to bad for him...At least GB was very frightened that Germany would attempt an invasion. I agree that transports, etc should not be protected automatically in the ports.. defense bonus yes...invincible no.
  8. THx Terif for your comments. After my exp. with invisible units , defense bonus etc. Ugh.. Sure my nex t one would be the invisible paratrooper in fortress at a choke point with defensive artillery..... Historical line may be good but if your enemy leaves GB nearly undefended and its even worse for Germany to take England than not (KB Rusia and US rises) Egypt is a fortress ans somehow suddenly becomes a industrial powerhouse... (talk about historic) Suggestions would be that preparing units paras, engineers would have even negative defense bonuses while peparing...or the rule to disappear under FOW would be scrapped as now you can protect them with anti airunits against air attacks.
  9. Terif, sory I disagree I think there was a real possibility to conquer the middle east in reality. AS the Egypt is made unconquable its more like ..Sealion..why bother... That the engineer is able to put on his invisible cloak and ambush other land units...well I prefer the first SC2 when the engineers where bombed to death trying to build fortifications. 1st a Sealion is more less useless due to the switch of the capital to Egypt . Shame because at least it eas a plan of Germany< to do so ..it ewasnt scraped because they would trnasfer their to Egypt+ suddnely all the infrastruture is build up by the martians to supoport the fleet ..build new armiwes etc9 2nd Egypt is now more or less unconquerable 3rd. and invisible engineers can kill any unit because there is now way around them [ October 31, 2007, 03:16 PM: Message edited by: Sombra ]
  10. If Eegland amasses enough troops in Egypt ships etc. it makes nearly for a undestructable defense ..Its really gamey :mad: . Enough nearly that only after the first game I say: OK thats it. Mistake to invest time :mad: :mad: Its kind of game breaker for me. Bad enough that after a SEalion suddenly Egypt (the lazy bastads are great Britain reborn) Why even defend England?   11. Well there is one thing really annoying in WAW right now. Situation early 1940. England has an engineer corps in Egypt right besides Alexandria. Its invisible surprise contact...unit nearly dead..killed by english counter.. engineer disappears again under FOW... as the english fleet is nearby I cant see the engineer again... surprise contact...army half dead killed by counter... Sorry I think this is kind of stupid. Because you can hardly go around it... Eitehr engieners dont can do a surpise encounter or they should be able to see at least from land units.
  12. @n0knk As I said in other games like Wesnoth it works and is actually quite fun. Especially when 2 good players have a match you can find groups of up to 20 other spectators watching , commetning, learning...It works there too that players are fair enough to not give the players some hints. I know that Hubert right now has to do with patching etc. Its just a long term wish from SC1 and SC" player to be able to watch a game in progress and not depend on the AARs in the forum. An automatic replay which could be watched afterwards would be nice too
  13. One feature I wish for to make SC2 perhaps more popular would be some kind of spectator option... Post and TCOP/IP and spectators could join in and watch the game. As well some kind of automatic replay which is saved during the game and could be watched after the game is over. I am playing many times Wesnoth online and these features are really popular just to drop in to say hello , learn or a lazy way to enjoy the game... I dotn know how hard it woulb be to programm such a thing but haveing seen it in action I love it..
  14. I think the game should act as normal: Best intercept: Antiair or fighter should interccept first etc. Regarding that all should work together... The same could be said for more than one fighter in intercept range. qSEaMonkey...ughh more micomanagement... Allready the attaching of units to a HQ etc is a lot of micromanagement . Soemtimes I would like the kiss principle of SC! used a ittle bit more in SC2.
  15. Hi Volcatius, YEs you got the GErman Version of the games. It was published by "Most wanted games" Alas they are out of buiseness. THe new Publisher will release a new SC"+ Addon bundle which you can preorder on Amazon.de right now. SC" + SC! have been most sold directly by the publisher Battlefront.com. As they are like stardock a small publisher its more profitable for them to sell their games directly without the retail chains... P:S: Panzerliga.de is a good site for looking for players in gErmany for SC1 and sC2 . But beware human vs human is like going to be swimming with the sharks at first They are much stronger than the aI
  16. As I dont play to often against the aI. Some questions: What exactly does the higher difficulty level do: - Make tha AI - give them more money - Can the AI cheat and see all your units.. - Special combat rolls??? I would like to play against aclever aI but get the feeling for the game with settings similar to what a human player can do.
  17. We cant say that Hubet didnt listen..many players wnated these units. Myself I have a problem with the scale of the units...Artillerie etc are fine for a scenario on small scale but on a stratgic map...ok Artillerie which supports 200 kmh ... attacks enemies 200kmh behind the Rhine.. specialforces which can damage a whole army... Arggh...dont think about it... SC1 was simple for me: Army was an army , corps more like a divison of soldiers..tanks a mechanical divison size group..etc. But its a game ..lets see how it plays .. I was allways dreaming of a new improved Panzergeneral with building strategy etc.

  19. Hi Rambo, right now not many of the old guard around (at least in the Panzerliga: DRagonheart is missing, Pfeiffer too ) ... Played a couple of SC1 games and one SC2 game lately. Had a lot of fun... Looking around for new challenges... still SC2 can already be a bit tedious on TCP/IP (The reason I stopped at some point to play it (PS thx for the option at least to move around the map yet while watching the enemy move) + hard to find players who are in for a 20h game) Now more micromanagement seems scary. Still I see the big advantages for WAW for singleplayer.

I played the DEMO and I think it was quite fun beating up the AI...(hopefully now the AI has a chance on D-DAyagainst a human player ) Fun enough that I was looking for the download only preoder (which isnt up yet it seems) (Yeah being able to read is an advantage as I discovered later in the announcement) Unfortunately I see the points of Terif that SC2 WAW will be a lot around micromanagemt. As SC2 allready was borderline for TCP/IP with quite long moves I think this will be streching the game playability online. Still I like the new map, weather and railroad system (Even if you now cant walk easily all over the middle east). Question is/would it be possible to turn off the "advanced units" as an option? Playing the simpler SC2 version on the new map with the imprioved weather conditions? P:S: It wouldn´t be possible to seperate an "Action Phase (move units attack) and Planning Phase (Buy units, Diplomacy, Research, declare war) So that both players have to do something all the time on TCP/IP?   21. :)Just a few questions... 1. ETA for the expansion? (its gold...so when can we download?) 2. As Hubert goes always for the magical numer x.07 (SC1 + SC2) to bring his product to near perfection... What is left to be done on this expansion (where you want to still improve) 3. I noticed that Blashy again is in the Beta test team. I am curious if Terif particpated active too for balance etc.? Who else was in the test team....? 4. I am missing exp. reports of the worth of the expansion for multiplayer. For me beating up my loved computer is like domestic violence... Any comments?
  22. I think I will buy just to support Battlefront and have the complete game. Dont know exactly if the new expansion will influence human vs human games. And I know if I still have a working copy of SC2 as my computer crashed a 2nd time and I suspect I can´t recover "deinstall" the E-license. Havent touched SC2 in a long time.. PErhaps time to get back into the game
  23. Reading all the AARs I notice that the tech is usally "maxed" out already 1941-1942. I think its either a sign of tech to important and/or to few upgrades
  24. Preemptive DOW seem to be right now the only way to prevent a skyrocking morale of the german troops taking country after country. That you cant block Suez´ is a little bit cheesey IMHO. I think suez is much more easy to control than Gibraltar for example. At least the troops should not be able to cross into the Med without securing Suez before.
