  1. Question any changes regarding the way TCP/IP works? Or simply bad luck lots of crashes, lost connections on two different computers with 2 different iopponents now. 1.05 worked with thede players mostly without any problems.
  2. Still surprising that it goes back to strengh 10. Port has a value of 5 so the max strength of the unit should be 8? But to limit the supply reduce the port. Imaginge you lay siege to a town and it has an open port to ship in reinforcements and supplies . I think SC" works quite well regarding supplies and reinforcements. As it is its a big part of the war to reduce the supply and railways (WAW) to wage an effective war against your enemy
  3. The question is what is keeping track. Fast way to make sure to not forget to move units is : press "n" for next unit. Regarding what a unit does...you get a feeling quite fast qhat is the relative strengh and weakness of a unit.... What is OOB by the way

  7. - Just put tire pressure monitoring in every new car. will lower the overall fuel consumption by 4-5% and decrease tire failures and related deaths as well...
  8. I think capitalism will survive. Hopefully the lesson we learn is: - You need rules in the game (economics) to have fun - cheating and no rules destroy the game faster than anything else (naked short selling + lies + insidertrading etc) - dont expect anybody to show any morale or ethic restrain : look at the recompensations bankers still recieve this year.

  10. @Amadeus Hi, perhaps You could mod these things. From my experience: "if it isnt official it isnt played" Kind of "if you cant convince the developers aka Hubert than the idea is not worthwhile. Lately I was playing quite a lot WAW and had much fun. Nevertheless its kind of boring when the enemy or you get LR 3+ and TAC bombers simply wipe out the HQs etc behind the frontlines...
  11. OK, I suggest that you first win the no buy new unit challenge in SC1.... ou have to win wiht only the units from the beginning. Is acutally quite fun and simple if you do it right.

  13. Thx for the AAR. Unfortunately it seems that the Japanese led by the AI were simply eleminated without any hard loses for the American forces. I dont know if this was historical but it looked like a 1 way battle from the description
  14. I suspect that right now SC" WAW is the most played part of the SC2 series. I strongly disagree to let WAW rest and move on. The only problem I see right now with any nerfing of some aspects of the game is that the aI is b not able to handle an invasion without TAC bombers as a superweapon. As Terif said moving the capital to Canada makes the problem worse. I still think that aircraft especially TAC Bobers are overpowered. => Therefore you cant defend GB => Capital transfer to Egypt => why defend GB at all if EGypt is much more worthwhile etc. MY personal list of fixes for SC2 WAW: -Reduce TAC Bombers soft attack (it would be fine if they still could work as tank killers) - Scrap the escort for tac bombers (harder to lvl up experience for TACs) - Make airdefense bonus for mines, cities etc work against all airplanes - Scrap capital transfer for England ....................................................................................................................... Other fixes: - Increase penalties/risks for players to conquer up the middle east - Limit tech advances for artillery to 1 -Scrap the severe penalties for allies to take Norway -(reduce the B:EF army and/or limit amphib range for England to prevent allies to always take Norway before Germany has a chance) - Open up a little bit the Egypt landscape for battles. - Increase HQ defense against air attacks ...................................................................................................................... I think the fixes would make SC2 WAW much more enjoyable as it is now. But I dont know if the AI would be able to win with these changes. But as the aI has no chance at all anyway if the human player takes advantage from these faults its kind of a mood point anyway.
  15. Sorry Terif but WAW Tac Bombers , Fist of god, works as well against the AI ...You want England 2-3 turns max.... Sure I can play blind, 3 bottles of wodka to give the AI a chance . still teh problem for human vs human is still teh same against he AI I think all teh problems would be solved if TAC bombers soft attack value would be much much much lower + no escort for Airfleets anymore + air defense bonus applied against TAC bombers in ports and cities as well. Tac bombers as tank killers fine for me if you want to spend money on them., prevents the tanks to become the next "Ueberunit" . Tac bombers to clear cities against soldiers ugh... Without tac bombers England isnt be taken as easily (no need for capital switch anymore) ..More severe cosnequences for the British taking the middle est yeah. As I see most people love the new units of WAW . Saying that well it isnt for multiplayer anyway is kind of weak. IMO Its simply no fu if somebody is lucky in long range it takes out your GQs regardless where and how you defend.

Thx very much for the reply Hubert. - As Terif said the problem of England is that it can simply loose England -Regarding the change for BEF it was to prevent the early taking of Norway + take away the penalties of the allies doing so. opening up another strategic option for the allies -Regarding TAC bombers: The Problem is for me their soft attack value , that they are escorted, that antiair (towns) doesnt work against them . I think that not escort TAc bombes is one step in the right direction. At least the human player would be forced to have air superority to use them. Rigth now they are the atomic bomb wiping out HQs in mountains in 2 turns etc.

  18. Thx for the Input . SeaMonkey, I know I can change some of the scripts in the editor. Unfortunately if it is not official you wont find any human player. Regarding the AA , Paratroops etc. yeah would be nice if it would be handled more realistically. Hopefully hubert isnt finished yet with Waw after PDE and the Pazifik Game
  19. I like SC2 and love many aspects of WaW . SC2 WaW could be the perfect game for , ok if it had hexes but nothing is perfect. I love the concept of the new weather zones, diplomatic possibliets , new units etc. Unfortunately the more I play SC2 WaW against humans the more I think I see the serious flaws in the current setup of the game for human vs human competion. The problem from my point of view is that there is a risk the players is forced down and just one way to play WaW as the Allies as the "optimal strategy" (Kind of Terifs cookie cutter + HDO for SC1) What is the best strategy for the Allies? Simple just secure Afrika. Forget about England you dont need it. Even before France falls take Iraq, Iran and if you are good and lucky take Saudi Arbia as well. The "whole" english fleet , french fleet , bomber etc works on reducing the ports in Afrika as soon as Italy joins the war ....move an engineer and anti aircraft for good measure to Egypt. Defend England lightly after the dust settles and North Afrika is secured you can think again about the Island if it still lives. You will need a bit of practice but try it, it works. Consequences are ...Afrika is a no go zone. England mostly will be converted to a German holding. D-DAy wont happen in France ... As a simulation as a "what if" scenario WaW fails big time here. The main root causes for this scenario are simply: - Its much more cost effective and worthwhile to defend Egypt than England - England still cannot be defended if the Axis players wants it. Some suggestions of a fix: - Scrap the capital move in case of England surrendering. At the most move some Navy assets to Canada and let Egypt declare independance. The main goal of the allied should be the defense of England in the beginning. Some suggestions to improve gameplay human vs human and and open up more strategic possibilities : - Reduce greatly the soft attack value of TacBombers. Give them a paper as tank killer but please not as the "fist of god" to wipe out whole armies with 1-2 strikes. Problem with the Tac Bombers in their current state is that they simply work as an "Island cleaner" if the Axis players wants England. There are quite a few others suggestions to reduce the effectivness of the TacBombers (make anti air in cities work against them, reduce soft target attack, make that Tac Bombers are not escorted anymore etc.) I think reducing the soft attack value of Tacbombers would work best for the gameplay. - Strap down the German fleet. No way the German fleet was able to challenge the English fleet "Oversea fleet" as much as we can in SC2 WaW . To balance the gameplay you could give more subs to the german player. - Give the English player a "Pioneer unit in the production list" - Reduce the diplomatic penalties of the Allies attacking Norway. To prevent that the Allies always take Norway before Germany. Reduce for example the B.E.F. Army to 5 points and give England more money in exchange, reduce the amphib tech of England by 1 . Both changes would convert an early invasion 1939 of Norway to a big gamble for the Allies but open up the possibilities for an early attack in 1940 . Forcing the Germans to strike first even before France or risk that the Allies take Norway - Increase penalties for attacking Syria, Saudia Arbia, Iran , Iraq (Mainly reactions by Turkey and perhaps increase the defence of Iran etc. would be logical if they see somebody gobbling up their neighbours.) I would simply love to see that Allied players has to think much more about the defense of England . Right now he has mostly a "jail free" card if England falls. Giving the Allied player the possiblities to move way to many assets to Egypt. The current setup plays out much to "ahistoric" for me" and gets kind of boring fast. I really hope that a new patch would adress these topics. P:S: Please dont say Editor ... humans player have the tendency to play the official version of the game and its hard enough to find players already.
  20. ill now SC2 WAW was running smoothly . After updating to to vers. 1.05 I get some kind of rare system crashes from time to time playing a TCP/IP game. Usally it starts with the graphic messed up (kind of smeared over the screen)and freezing of the computer . Unfortunately I dont have any screenshots (computer freezes) but it happened now 3 times in my last 3 games. Before vers. 1.05 I never had any system freezes or this kind of failure Reloading the autosave solves this kind of bug and is not repeatable. System: Intel Pentium4: 2,66 GHZ, 512GB Windows XP latest service packs etc. Graphik: Radeon 9600 128MB laterst driver ITs kind of old computer but I just asking if they kind of radical changes have been made in the last patch and if other players ahve the same issues 2.nd. Bug or feature : "Greek partisans disrupt supplies" It happens even if a Axis unit for example an italian corpps is in Athen . Is this a feature aka. Greek partisans are different than other nations or is this a bug?
  21. I think the strat bombers work fine. As you can counter them (research AnitAIr + AA guns) Tac Bombers are something different . I think they are much to strong. They are even worse then the aircraft in SC1. Beefed up tacbombers can destroy each a new tank unit ( killing 6-8 Points ) in one strike . Its like the fist of god. Problem is you can´t counter them as they can be escorted like strat bombers . 2 strikes and a little artillery bombardments and any defender of a city is gone. With other words even if the defender has 2x times the fighters as the attack it doesnt matter as the tac bombers would be immune to them. If anohter patch comes to SC2 WAW I would love to see some features: - No more escort for Tac bombers. - Strap down the importance of Tac bombers (reduce for example max AT Tac of TAc to 2) or at least make anti air in cities work against them and reduce soft target attack (converting the Tac bombers at great tank killers but not a army killer too) These changes would make England much more defensible too. leading to my main concern: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - No capital swap to Alexandria. Terif in the end convinced me that the "best" and most effective strategy for the Allied player is to protect the Med with the whole!! English fleet, gobble up the middle east defend England only lightly in the beginning. If Germany lands worse even for them. This kind of strategy is kind of cheesy. Fact is: - Its easier to defend Egypt than England - Its nearly impossible to defend England if the German player really wants it - You can make Egypt almost bullet-proof if you throw all reserves in the Med - Increase penalties for attacking Syria, Saudia Arbia, Iran , Iraq (Mainly reactions by Turkey and perhaps increase the defence of Iran etc. would be logical if they see somebody gobbling up their neighbours.) => Right now the Med a "No go " zone is human matches according to Terif and after first play testing of this kind of extreme strategy I tend to agree. => It makes even sense from the economic side to do the following: Take Iraq, Iran , Saudi Arbia early on. (Even while France fighting is still going on.) The whole English fleets moves to the MEd to prevent early arrival of Axis attack forces in Afrika) All MP go to build up British defence of the Med. England will be defended lightly only by 2-3 Corps. To raise the necessary cash (To transport troops, to strengthen the troops in the Med sell for example research investments) IF Germany takes England my cash increases with the middle east under my control, US + UDSSR KB increase ü+ investment of many MPs by Germany . - Strap down the German fleet. No way the German fleet was able to challenge the English fleet as much as we can in SC2. Regularly I am able to gain dominance in the Atlantik vs the combined fleet of America and GB.(This is vs human players) Point is here: Make that the English player focuses in the beginning of defending England and not Egypt as its 1st priority and open up therefore again the MEd for real combats and decsions to move troops to Egypt . I would like to have back the nail biting suspense of SC1 to decide whether to defend England or throw sand into the war machine of the Axis. - Reduce the diplomatic penalties of the Allies attacking Norway. To prevent that the Allies always take Norway before Germany. Reduce for example the B.E.F. Army to 5points and give England more money in exchange, reduce the amphib tech of England by 1 .   23. Personally I prefer wars in Europe. Just clear borderlines and somehow I "know" where the important battles will be fought. The Pazifik war was in historic terms a totally "new" battlefield . I am quite curious how SC2 will simulate the logistic challenges waging a war over such huge deserts of water. The limited resources a of Japan etc.

  25. Its quite possible to start a mayor landing operation in the beginning of Barbarossa. Alas this strategy is so unbalancing that it is usally forbidden between human players. (houserules) Conquering Finland is usally a bad idea.
