  1. I know there are problems, but I"m not sure why this is one. Doesn't a covered arc solve this problem? It seemed to me that the guys I'm complaining aboujt at least didn't open fire on the tank till it entered their arc...
  2. Yeah, that's nice in theory, but meanwhile the twits who tried to take advantage of it get mown down because now everyone knows they are there. At least _one_ of the two guys should use their faust, the other guy can be Mr Buttonup for sure...
  3. On a similar topic, I can't really understand why I'm even getting the contacts that I'm referring to. They are way in the back of my opponent's terrain, where I have no possibility of LOS or hearing.... GaJ
  4. We Band Of Brothers has a "CMBN" ladder as well as "CMx1". If you looked and saw no-one in it, it's because you need 10 games to rank. (Maybe we will drop that number for CMBN in the early phase, haven't thought about it) GaJ
  5. Oh, I see what you mean, you were offering "how should the player think about this", not "why didn't BFC implement it". In that case: yes, it's "learner drivers all over again". Tanks lurch around, and vehicles don't know how to stop to let someone off... GaJ
  6. I thought that the ability to view LOS from a waypoint was way too God-like, at first. However, the fact that it doesn't actually tell you what your units will be able to see when they arrive there mitigate this a lot GaJ
  7. Maybe, I haven't tried that. But this is not what the manual says, nor what WineCape said. GaJ
  8. This is not a small thing, but I'm totally impressed with most of the Inf animation/AI. There are some obvious things that probably need a tweak (like opening fire on tanks with small arms) but overall these guys look and feel like real men. It's amazing!
  9. Everything was going swimingly. The TH team obeyed their covered arc and the Shermie proceeded down the road till it was side on, then they lept up from behind the hedge and opened fire... .... with small arms!!?? "Gee, we have a perfect shot with this 'faust, but let's make sure he buttons up first before we try using it". Argh! I think if you blow him up with the faust, you won't be worrying about button-up anymore!!
  10. I am finding that contact icons come and go as I move the camera around. What is the meaning of this: I can't find any system to it. At a particular camera elevation (moderately high) I can push the camera forwards towards the contact icons and watch them disappear much like trees do on that tree setting, then pull back and they come back again. But it's not a closeness thing, because if I go to camera angle 9 I can see them again (IIRC). Huh? GaJ
  11. That doesn't fly. Even in CMx1, if you asked the guys to get out at a waypoint (which you could do in that old game, not like this newfangled on ) the vehicle would stop, wait for them to get out, and move on... GaJ
  12. Funnily, earlier I reported that I don't get this "fast in the edges" behaviour at all. Does anyone? When I left click drag, it goes at the same speed no matter where on the screen I am. Or so it seems. I tried it out pretty carefully... GaJ
  13. A little while back I posted this info in answer to the question "where can I get a game?". HTH. See you out there GaJ
  14. Seeing MG bullets clip the leaves of an intevening tree as the shooter area fires into a target in the distance! Man, this game is wasted on RT players.... ya gotta take the time to watch all this happening!!
  15. First, CMBN controls are _nothing like_ CMBO controls. However, you do get used to it. I agree with left click drag right drag. Coming from CMx1, where the effect happens after a large push to the edge of the screen, for CMBN you have to thing _small_ mouse movements. Left-click-twitch-and-hold-for-effect is more like it. Even better is tab-right-click-drag when you have a unit selected, because then the rotation is around something you can relate to (the unit you have locked onto) instead of that wierd floating camera postion that is "behind" what you see om the screen. Also, for low down manipulation to look at (say) a gap in the bocage that is "on the other side of the road" from another row of bocage, the i-j-k keys in the alternate hotkeys file are useful. That summarises what I am using now. I've become quite comfortable with it. The only time I get vertigo now is if I use ctrl-click - the most common thing in CMx1 - and which is broken now, as I have previously reported. Hard habit to get out of! GaJ
  16. I had a thread about this before. You can put an entry in the hotkeys file for cancel target, and the UI will be updated with your key, but it doesn't work. It stuck as being delete. Go figure! GaJ
  17. Serious? Does the AI play RT against itself then?
  18. Are your guys in C&C? I've had guys out of C&C cancel their arcs when under pressure. Seems realistic to me.
  19. It seems so bizarre that you can't give dismount at a waypoint. Being able to give commands at a waypoint is so cool ... why not _all_ commands... (I can see that in this instance the answer is "because you give vehicles commands at waypoints, not passengers. Dang. How about an "evict" command for vehicles ) GaJ
  20. Being able to click on the leader of a unit and be taken to that leader.
  21. How when you click on an enemy unit, your own units that can see the enemy light up. How when you click on your unit, you can only see what it can see.
  22. Hang on - Steve said "you need to put them in covering terrain to get concealment". What about getting ... cover? Is the only option to place them behing a bocage embankment? GaJ
