  1. What's wrong with CMBN Hunt for this purpose? AFAICS if you have a covered arc, then the tank continues forwards until something intersects its arc, at which point it stops. That sounds like the right thing. If you wish that it would continue again if the threat does not materialise ... well, you wasted at most 59 seconds of advancement, and probably learned that you need to set the arc closer in? A geniune question: I haven't played enough tank-filled games to know if this has pitfalls, it seems to be working so far for me... GaJ
  2. Out of curiosity, what's the current thinking on what is a "proper fix"? FWIW, I find the trivial detail of the tanks driving like first-timers on the clutch more of an ongoing irritation than the occasional "hang on, he couldn't really have taken that shot". Any chance of teaching the drivers to use the clutch sooner than solving firing stops? GaJ
  3. It sure would be great to have a rundown of what we can glean from those numbers and words!
  4. ... then you're good to go with CMSF + Dropbox (Thanks for picking up the latest - helps a lot!) GaJ
  5. I've always wanted to do a mobile app. Dang, I don't even have an iPhone myself though! I know that Texas-the-machine-Toast and I are both intrigued by the possibility... stay tuned... GaJ
  6. Note that H2HH doesn't require you to use Dropbox: you can use it and just email or "sendthisfile" or whatever the files yourself; and at the other end of the spectrum it works equally well on a LAN with a shared file system, for WEGO LAN play, for example. H2HH just puts the files where you tell it to A Dropbox shared folder happens to be the most convenient that anyone has found so far. I'm not sure that "most people" have a torrent client installed - maybe they do these days? If so, I'm behind the times But filezilla, port-forwarding etc is not "simple". I guess file sharing on the internet can't be simple, as Mr XKCD laments, because of issues like "who pays" and "security". Such is life... GaJ
  7. Perhaps it wasn't quite clear: the troops were not ordered to cross the bridge. They were supposed to leap over the hedge in front of them, and move down into the mud. Instead they lept over the hedge that led to the minefield, so they could run across the bridge shouting "Trip, trap, trip, trap! " GaJ
  8. Mordante posted a new CMSF mod at the CMSF Mods Warehouse. It's Mordante's "Mord's Mixed Combatants" Description: "Mixes hooded and non hooded Syrian Combatants into a squad to give more of a hodge podge feel to their ranks...." GaJ
  9. Thanks - good tip. Interestingly, it's not unbearably slow going through that mud. I shared as much 'cause it's funny as anything, especially the second part where they could have turned left, but they turned right and went around and under GaJ
  10. Lucky for me these guys survived their humorous jaunt through the minefield, past the opening they could have used, over the bridge through the other minefield, around the wrong side of the bridge and back underneath! I'm pointing with the cursor where they have been ordered to go to... GaJ
  11. It's the time-remaining. Bottom right hand corner of the control panel. It's counting down, a minuture per turn. GaJ
  12. 1.3.4 Beta, just posted, has this for Windows. I think that the Growl already implemented is the answer for Mac users.. GaJ
  13. I had to kick someone from the H2HH Shared Folder just now, sorry to whoever that was! (I lost your email at the time I kicked you, otherwise I'd write to let you know!) You can't use the shared folder for your own purposes: unzipping the package, or running a game. If you start doing that, I have to kick you, because your files get shared with everyone, which is no good. It happens by accident quite often, I know that the shared folder is not always easy or obvious to get the hang of if you haven't used them before. Sometimes I can just delete the spurious file and leave it at that. I only have to kick you if you keep doing it (usually by accident). See the FAQ and other instructional files in the shared folder. GaJ
  14. Yes. Email support is coming in 2.0.0 BTW, we found a recently introduced bug in 1.3.0 (in start game/end game). Please pick up 1.3.2 Beta instead. GaJ
  15. I agree that the "secure" victory objective should be smarter. Of course, that would raise the question of "where do you draw the line", but I think the answer is "anywhere in the direction of don't let one unit neutralise the objective" would be an improvement. GaJ
  16. Systray/dock notification is also a good idea - I've been wanting the same thing myself. Consider it "on the list" GaJ
  17. If you don't mind trying 1.3.0, that would be nice for us, because you've been able to experience the slowdown more than Charlies (or me on a PC). So you can warn us if its back. OTOH, you can stay on 1.2.8, there's not a whole lot of difference, other than the pretty icons 1.2.8 has all the other features I listed (above). GaJ
  18. Hi All, Just a note to let you know that H2HH 1.3.0 (Beta) is available in the H2HH Dropbox Share. Significant new features over 1.1.3 (the latest stable release) are: - Option to launch CMBN by right-click - "End Game" feature, that cleans up and removes a game - Tidy up dropbox option. In addition, Texas-graphics-Mac-Toast has brought icons to H2HH.... : dropbox is configured for this game : opp is using H2HH : new turn arrived : new message arrived Enjoy... (as always, if you want access to the shared folder, send me a PM with your email) GaJ
  19. Why is this "needless to say"? I don't think I've seen one quite this big, but I'm not clear on why there's anything bad about this other than a longer loading time... is it established that there is some terminal file size afterwhich the game crashes? GaJ
  20. I had no idea every single shell falling had one of these complicated thingamajigs in it. Amazing. GaJ
  21. Thanks for the heads-up, and thanks heaps for trying, I haven't been aware of this. I'll PM to find out more. GaJ
  22. So you guys who are donating for this mod, would you donate to the place that stores the mod, as well? My experience is that about 1 in 100 users will donate approx $10 for a tool, and a lot less will donate something for visiting a web site. I don't know what the donation rate for a specific mod might be: I guess if people agree upfront the donation rate would be higher. The upside of this is that I know very well who the donators are for CMMODS, it's easy to keep track of Thanks to you guys GaJ
  23. Do you think this might only apply to VS AI? In other words, if you develop a scenario for VS AI, then you need to specify whether the *AI plan* suits RT or WEGO. It's not obvious to me that scenario design should differ for RT vs WEGO. It might, I can see that, I just can't yet see "why?". It feels wrong that you would design a scenario differently depending on the player's mode of control. GaJ Afterthought: I've probably gone off topic into a thread that should be in the scenario design forum!
