  1. (I can see that Texas 'Mac' Toast has posted a 1.2.8-Alpha-Mac already ) GaJ
  2. I'm sorry for coming across arrogant and aggressive. I think that in reality I'm just passionate I'll try to watch myself. I addressed this question already. I guess since you don't read what I say, you didn't read my answer What I said was that the purpose for coming and discussing here in the BFC forums is exactly to talk about how the game might be improved - what its shortcomings are and what might be done about them. What you see as a "complaint" is not a "whinge", it's a "Problem Report". I come and I say "here is this issue, I'm seeing it, it affects me so it probably affects others, let's discuss, see if I have it right, and if I do what should be done about it". Many times, we learn that I have it wrong. Like the cover thing, for example. Totally a learning thread: I'm sure I'm not the only one who had no idea that in real life rifle ammo is so powerful and cover is so poor. Other times, I have a good point about what is wrong with the game as it stands, and either some workaround comes out, or it the usual "we hope BFC reads the thread and does something with it". I'm passionate about the game. CMxx is the only game I play. I pour hours and hours of unpaid work into supporting it. WeBob Bobster, McMMM, CMMODS, CMSFMODS, H2HH, scenarios, mods ... etc. In this respect, I think my money is where my mouth is. How many others can say the same? I come and discuss the problems with the game only because I want to see it improved. I think a bit of frustration on my part is only to be expected if I come and start a thread like this one, based on data that no-one else has taken the trouble to collect and share, and the first response is some guy pouring cold water on the size of the dataset without any other contribution at all.... Cheers, GaJ
  3. Interestingly, H2HH users also have reported that CMBN doesn't see a new game file immediately after it is copied into Incoming Email. I've been asked "why do I have to exit CMBN and start it again to see the new file". We've pretty much proved that the file really is in place, so this is in the "hmm - that's strange" basket. It only just occured to me that there might be the same underlying cause, if CMBN is having trouble with files. GaJ
  4. Thanks for the update. Others have also reported that 1.2.3 did not fix the slowdown. It's a very mysterious thing: the thing that is taking a long time, on Macs only, is deleting excess lines out of the log window! How that can take so long is a mystery. The log window is a standard component, and google reports other developers on Mac having the same problems with it. So... we'll figure out some workaround and get a new 1.2.x out to you soon. GaJ
  5. I agree that BFC should make the post about H2HH a sticky. Unfortunately, BFC are rarely keen to promote outside support for their games. Not something I really understand, it's just something I observe. The H2HH Help page is here: http://gregories.net/h2hh/H2H%20Helper.html The thread that should be stickied is http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=99819 GaJ
  6. Since H2HH came along, there's significant number of people playing CMBN via dropbox. It's not at all a hassle - it's basically seamless. GaJ
  7. No-one said you don't need email for PBEM. That would be an inherent contractiction. What I said was you don't need email to play H2H WEGO. I am playing 6 H2H WEGO games at the moment and I never send or receive an email. Neither do I copy and paste a file. I just open the CMBN, play the turn, close CMBN. It's true it would be better if CMBN itself supported this properly, but since it doesn't there are good community supplied tools to help. It's a non-issue: playing H2H WEGO is smooth and seamless. GaJ
  8. Bring 'em on! (maps/scenarios with this stuff in!)
  9. This is the point I was making. Some posters in this thread seem to think that you need email to play WEGO ... it is not the case. GaJ
  10. Really, these things can't be discussed without breaking FOW.... ... suffice to say that the VPs don't add up to the total given, and the forces at setup don't match the briefing... so it'd be nice to know what I'm not understanding... GaJ
  11. "modern gamer". LOL. Excuuuuuse us ol' gamerz modering gamer: "twitcher". Who said anything about playing WEGO by email? GaJ
  12. I've PMed. (I can't open the scenario in the editor, that would be breaking double blind) GaJ
  13. You'll find in most communities that PBEM way outweighs RT. I don't even know off the top of my head where to find a really active RT player forum or chat. WeBoB has a chat room for this - there's hardly anyone ever in it. There's a reason for this: the game is not a twitcher. As the Armchair general guy said: GaJ
  14. Certainly the height can't be lowered by a modder. I wouldn't say they are worthless, but they aren't much better than visible bases would be. Visible from any height that is. Is there a mod that achieves this? GaJ
  15. Hi, I've just started playing this H2H as US. Gorgeous map. There are a few things about the briefing that are either not clear or not right (One example: the VP points available don't add up to the total. I don't know what that means) I'd like to check them with someone without spoiling my own FOW, or the FOW of my oppo if he's reading If you've seen the allied briefing and can explain it to me, can you PM me? Ta, GaJ
  16. Great thanks. I don't really understand this one. If you want a wall blasted, what are you advising? That you set the blast waypoint on the other side of the wall, then set a move waypoint back towards myself on "this" side of the wall? GaJ
  17. I disagree. I think 80 games is a decent number of games to look at and say "gee, that's interesting". For heaven's sake, people complain about the balance of a scenario they played after _one_ playing. They are happy to look at graphs like this: http:///gregories.net/bobster/bobster.cgi?function=scenario-results-histogram&scenario=Carbide%20Carbide and say "gee, that scenario looks imbalanced" ... after only 5 games. 80 games is significant enough to be interesting. GaJ Another random interesting graph apropos the topic of this thread:
  18. Does it say that? I didn't see that. It does say this: which is mostly true... GaJ
  19. :) ............. ... but see the thread about Pioneers: how do you get them to use the dan stuff!?!?!?
  20. Argh ... some "Small ME" QB map. Is there some easy way I can see what map it is that we're using, now that the game is nearly at the end? I couldn't see it... GaJ
