  1. At the risk of stating the obvious; it doesn't seem to be making life easier for everyone... </font>
  2. Heh - sorry about the PBEMH files. PBEMH does assume it should send those unless you tell it not to, which I obviously forgot to do. But then... shouldn't you be using it anyhow, and making life easier for everyone? GaJ.
  3. OK, OK, I'm working on it! We've got till June or somefink (I'm also trying to finish the next verison of McMMM, which I didn't quite get done before ROW V fired up, much to my dismay!)
  4. Push setup received & responded to... Moltke received, Wet moving on at 1 turn per day.
  5. I can understand the expectation that broadband might mean people will play TCPIP more, but I'm not sure if it's right. TCPIP is extremely demanding of people's time - fun, intense, hard to fit in. PBEM is "play when you have time" - much more convenient. I had always seen PBEM as a "must have" ... like a display. The limitations of having to be on a personal computer with a 2D screen haven't stopped playing on a personal computer 2D screen from being a must have. Otherwise you'd just say "sorry, but you have to have a cray and 3D vis". Similarly, fitting the game into PBEM feels like a must have to me....
  6. Um, what's the point of a great game with no way to play it? Since I only play PBEM, I guess I'm biased: are the other methods of play really popular enough that you'd produce a game without PBEM?
  7. I would eventually get to them all, but if you can do them please do! I'm actually virtually ignorant of how to properly use image manipulation programs (having spent zero time trying to learn), and I think someone with a better knowledge of the parameters of images would be able to do a much better job than I did. I just wanted something vaguely usable. I happen to have PhotoImpact because it came with my scanner. I loaded all the BMPs into that and did this: - Started with the darkest one (say 1550), and made it darker by clicking "reduce brightness" four times. - Made it look more acceptable by increase contrast twice - Applied the same to the next one (1551). - Applied less to the next one (ie clicked reduce brightness tree times) - Same to the next - Less to the next - Same to the next etc till I got to the "middle" one in the series. Then I stared from the other end (the lightest one) and worked in, obviously making them brighter instead of darker. All the time I was saving each one as I went, and had the whole set displayed (in Windows Explorer) in thumbnails next to each other. Once going through the mechanical routine above I fiddled with ones that didn't look right till the sequence looked even. There you have it: GaJ's recipe for High Contrast terrain. A person with half a clue about images (someone who knows where the 'gamma button' is for example) could probably do much better much quicker. All I can say is "go for it" - the more better high contrast mods out there the easier it will be to play the game and the happier I'll be. Cheers, GaJ.
  8. Find the thread at BoB called "The Miracle of PBEM Helper". All the info is there.
  9. I've no problem hosting, it just does take a suprising amount of fiddling around to set up those pictures, and I only have a small amount of time each evening for everything to do with CM. Didn't the sand picture do it for you? There's one of Arid as well...
  10. I got the first turn of Wet back this morning - will respond this evening, and try to do at least one CMAK setup. GaJ.
  11. In case y'all were too busy reading about halfsquads, or who's sent what to whom, you may have missed this mod announcement which relates to a game we're all playing... ... now how sportsman-like is that? GaJ.
  12. I've given Steppe the ole High Contrast treatement. It's at CMMODS. Sorry there's no preview picture - I have ROW opponents beating me up to get turns to them. You can get the idea of what to expect by looking at the preview picture of my high contrast Sand for CMAK (read the description, too, to understand what it's supposed to do for you). Enjoy. GaJ.
  13. OK - I see a few people grabbed the mod. I was just joking there. If you have any feedback, please do post it! GaJ.
  14. Games migrated, it's too late at night to do a setup. Tomorrow!!
  15. I've received back the first turn of Wet. CMAK opponents ... as per the above ... I have the patch now, just have to migrate other games in progress, then I can do CMAK!
  16. I've sent the one CMBB setup I have. I will patch to 1.03 tonight and then do the CMAK ones. I got Push from my opponent, also waiting for 1.03.
  17. By all means try CMMOS - sorry I can't help you there. But another option is McMMM, which you can get from CMMODS. This will help you use all the mods that are available at CMMODS (and elsewhere). If you need help with McMMM then I can probably be of assistance GaJ.
  18. Hopefully most of the annoucements are done, I guess. I hate to be a pain, but editing the top post is worse, because there's no way of knowing that you've done it. Sorry I brought it up. (Hard to believe that BFC folk would object to a topic called "ROWV Announcements" though!?) GaJ
  19. And Brent looses all the time, so it can't be that much of a strategy worth worrying about
  20. You need to read Steve's comments on the eye candy thing. It's not the case. In order to represent 1:1, the engine has to model more detail than it did before. Their original purpose was to allow a small bit of recon. Steve has said that the problem as it appears in CMx1 will not be there in CMx2. I think they're on top of it.

  22. Keep this guy away from ROW ... the scenario names might send him off the edge...
  23. Kingfish - could we have a separate thread for ROW V announcements - the one that you expect us all to read. (separate from ROW V discussion about who's up to where) Thanks! GaJ.
  24. Whadaya know ... the next day my first ROW V turn arrives and it's CMBB in the steppe. GaJ_High_Contrast_Steppe is posted at CMMODS. Any feedback welcome. When I look at the colour sequence of the BMPs it appears fine, but there are a couple of strange sudden jumps in the colours that are displayed in the one scenario I've tried. I'm not sure why that is - whether it's steep slopes or what? I didn't have a lot of time to fiddle with it ... opponents are waiting for their turn. But keep it quiet ... I wouldn't want those ROW opponents getting any sort of help against me... GaJ.
