  1. Liam over Cro_Panzer <Cro_Panzer had 125 and I got Allies> After into attacking France it went poorly and dropped out so I assume he conceded as I didn't recieve any other responce from him..and he entered another game 2 minutes later Liam
  2. Yes, pointing that there is a line between Soviet and Wermacht supply after taking down the initial cities and approaching Leningrad & Moscow. Ever play Eastern Front by SSI? I appreciated their severe Winter, as 1941 was a harsh one. Didn't the Russians keep most of their offensives to the Winter until 1943? For that is when the more mechanized Germans would be weakest and they would be a bit more in their natural element. Also being in a foreign country so deep! Not like Germany in France, so close to home lines... and resupply... In reality I doubt you could assemble units anywhere but Germany and her Minors and ship them out from there to the Front...Lots of things to consider but again more detail, more depth and thus SC Complete Strategic Warfare with all the great minds here to add and complete it... My want for this game
  3. If you liked High Command or Storm Across Europe. Buy it... Strategic Fast with good connections Relatively low bugs Good WW2 <only WW2 Simulator in Europe> worth a damned right now on a Strategic level play the demo...I'd like to see an upgrade!!! SC2 that's what I'd really like... with the full blown model
  4. Kind of Britian's dying gift to her American Children you think? Also to the rest of the World from Axis tyranny? Giving back a little? Perhaps that's why the Brits have a CommonWealth now instead of nothing at all. Most of the other Colonizers have little or relation to their home<well of any vast importance> Whilst Britian is quite close to us. I think that we would almost allow any British Citizen entrance. A very prized thing indeed.
  5. I agree Night, Corp deaths pull back the expensive units, hold back the armies and tanks to counter attack any really weakened german units that might possibly give you much needed experience and loss of strength for the Gremans without heavy losses to your own troops.
  6. I know but the US's industrial wealth is also misrepresented. So is the D-day Situation<being that the Allies would have had to wait a long time to gather in order to perform a real invasion...the cost of morale and men if they were to have lost in Normandy would've been huge on those Westerners> Though the Winter was harsh on German's in 41, it only stemmed the tide. Allowed the Russians to retake Rostov in the South and some territory in the North. The Germans held up more or less! It gave the Russians precious time however to regroup, what the Russian had then was time to rethink and wait! Then Hitler blundered and went South...
  7. Oh! A neat trick, throwing death corps out into German Lands.. even though you lose a lot remeber you keep Supply keep important Marsh lands. Important Mountain Fortresses. If you've got stacks of Units! You can operate any Air to Moscow too....! You should have reinforcements soon. Move back the Russian Aircraft and wait for tech. If he has tech 4 BECAREFUL! Always keep your Russian Air Units Maxed. Watch out if he starts striking your HQs.. Your combined UK and US Air can be a deciding factor in Russia
  8. WOOT NIGHT Excellent Mate, you're kicking butt. Becareful now, don't go ahead yourself, keep those cities cause he's way ahead of himself. You just want to kill what you can and stack so many Corps that it's just a stalemate in Russia and then eventually Russian tech and Caucus<sp? mnt Industry will kick in! The Industrial Heartland of Russia is in the Ural Mountains and the Mineral Wealth inbetween the Black and Caspian Seas. I would focus on getting WESTERN Air Fleets to protect your ground forces. Usually their tech is better. Also if you have Iraq. Heck, try a TRICK slip in a few corps via the black sea into the Balkans see if you can't capture Romania. Knock those units out of the War without having to kill them. Becareful of Normandy. He may have something behind the lines waiting for you! I usually wait for the guy to committ, then I kill what he's landed knowing the Western Allies can't afford to replace losses of Armies/Tanks as easy as Russia/Germany
  9. Ahhh, we can glorify the thought of War can't we? If I were in that Political circle I would look for my Katana and slice through the taxplans and Republican/Democratic Idealisms. I would run the country as a pure Empire! We go overseas not for our interests, for MODERN CIVILIZATION for these foreign heathens do not know what is right for them If someone has something to say... Look down the barrel of my 10thousand Nuclear devices! JJ: I gotta love the thought though. I'd love to see old armies perform against modern ones. I believe the Iraqis would just fly to Iran Without an Airforce regardless of improved tanks/small arms and artillery they'd probably still all Run away!
  10. JJ: I've got to give you props their mate! Welcome to Nigel's Wild Wild World!!! "You sissy Nigel, you think you can hit me with that piece of 16th century fire arm VS a tried and true Crossbow!" A Longbow is a better weapon but a crossbow takes less training... Take the Iraqi Army of today and put them up against the German Army of 1943<even #s>... Who would win??? My cash would gone on the Germans though with heavy losses
  11. Move your airfleets back, what you can save of them...place stacks of corps..and attack finland... You simply have to have a strong Western Contigent to tie up what you can. I usually find a good Russian player keeps me on Straight lines... Good fortified corps on cities making it a pain in the arse. A war of attrition and I hate it! Plan mini raids on France. It gets on their nerves! As well as in Norway/Sweden or N.Africa...good to tie up the luftwaffe between the red airforce later in the game after she has gotten some tech and the Allies in Sweden... Cutting off the German's head in the Baltic<a very wealthy area> WATCH OUT FOR IRAQ!!!!
  12. Oh, I know how smart the military is I was a military brat for 21 years and I served Lt Col to a Staff Sargeant in various jobs. They conduct things the same way. I am pretty much admire their discipline in comparison with the civilians. Although your wellbeing, health is often secondary to them Every mistake sits in their head...They're taught to be perfectionists. Though human life can be expendable depending, just don't make an international incident...In WW2 We lost few men, I think the the Germans/Russians and Japs were a lot more suicidal with their officers. See people often appoint officers that do not have actual combat experience, and on merit of education rather than practicality...He's been there, he know's what he's doing and he can get the job done... Remeber Band of Brothers, I loved the way they pushed Dave Swimmer out off the frontline, he would have gotten them toasted, roasted and mixed with Sour Kraut for Dinner I would have to lead a group of men into a Forest? Man, I would go in there quiet!!! I would have my spotters out and I would take cover at the first sight of danger! Heroes are not brave, they're usually stupid
  13. Now that is an interesting question! First of all, I wouldn't be a Squad Leader; I immediately make rank in whatever I join. So I would be a Majour and I wouldn't order my men into a ambush like that! If I didn't have artillery or if the woods were to large too level, I'd order my men to encircle the forest and wait...If we had to have the position, then I'd send in a suicide squad or two to die rather than risk a all out massacre. The men in that forest would be in a Fortress, and would starve before I would take heavy casaulties...They have to eat, sleep and resupply as well. Easier for me to block them from outside then to walk into the Lions Den and get clawed. Wait and stick him in the back with my Sword on his way out the door
  14. I have never been in combat correct. Though I disagree with you. I'll give you a WW2 SMG... and I'll take a rifle... I'll just stay out of your range and pick you off and you can waste 2 or 3 clips to give me tracers and a better ping on your position... Now if I was going to rush your bunker, throw me the SMG and grenades! Get behind that machine gun turret, and I'd call out that 1 sniper to hit every man that dared stick his head out that high. Anyone that approaches a nest frontally is on something Though as you can see the Maginot was a formidable Nest, though not much good, just go around it...cut it's supply and accomplish your goals...
  15. Yes! I am wrong about Russian tanks, but as far as their other weapons available at the onset of War I'm not sure too much on their capability. They weren't setup to face a BlitzKrieg or any type of War, they had more equipment but you're right none of it was where was supposed to be. They were poorly equiped, poorly lead...and in general probably frightened as hell... I would be facing an oponent that had only 1 real actual Loss, the Battle of Britian.. Until that point.. All weapons have their place. A rifle has better range, an SMG is good for close up, a machine gun is good for taking out a large quantity of men. If I commanded an Army I'd prefer Rifles to SMGs. You can hit them or even hit most Machine Gun Nests from a proper vantage point out of their sights and range... The Germans used great tactics with their skilled troops and leadership. Amassed in secret an army of 3 million men for barbarossa. I would have gone back in History being Hitler and put another million from the Atlantic Wall on the job and from other places to ensure a 1941 defeat...
  16. Why thankyou John, your arguments towards what the Brits truely had available overseas is true. Much of went away to India and Singapore was dispatched after the German Naval threat was accessed as weak at best. I know for my GrandFather served as an Anti-Aircraft and Mind Trauler in Burma/Indonesia/etc... Although you have to admit though Australians/South Africans/New Zealanders/Canadians and even many Americans wouldn't be quick to jump the gun to aid Britian. Such a reinforcement could be done with any # of the merchant marine availabe from the Brit's Allies at which the time 1939 the Japs didn't want to pee off as they recieved a mass of their Raw Resources from the USA... it is more than likely that the US would've been instrumental in providing some sort of equipment. I'm thinking more along the lines that the minute The Battle of Britian was Lost in the Skies. Desperate measures would be taken at that point, to call all foreign fighting men to home. To beg and plead with all nations she had close ties with for assistance. Americans would've probably did as much as she could do and may have entered the War! I think that more than actual manpower to offer, actual firepower... 200k men? Were there not as many men serving in Singapore, India, Burma that were full British citizens? A complete and utter withdrawl from all of her colonies, she had to have men their to mantain the peace for all those nations were unstable. You've got free french units, you'd naturally have free brit and free American units. The option for the Russians is more difficult being a land based power, she would not be able to recruit men after a fall of her major Eastern Cities. I'll bet Churchill had to think over these things! There is no sort of bonus either when Germany assualts the mainland of Britian. Russia/Germany/France/Britian and Japan would've been extremely nationilistic. There would have been no end to their resistance. As is historical...
  17. It shouldn't be hard to give each individual unit a seperate icon? For instance German Aircraft Development, with Fighters. Starts with the ME109..then ME109E...FW190A...FW190-D and then finally the top of the line ME262. Similarly USA P40/P38/P47/P51/and it's jet version. Although the P38/P47/P51 are also long range aircraft.. Also alter Jet Fighter technology to Aircraft Fighter Technology...4 times more correct
  18. Shaka, I can see your point in making things more simple, but it's still inaccurate vs strength. You tend to forget what the difference an Opel makes or a Halftrack when it comes down to War. When Hitler went to take out Russia, lets take an average combat situation... The Russians have 1920s equipment and it's workable and could hold a fair defensive line for a few months. Although I pull out a couple dozen opels loaded with platoons and hit your HQs and wipe out your Supply with a Ju-87 and all you have to fly is a biplane I quickly shootdown. Then my men get those huge Anti-Tank guns, an 88 in place to dismember not only Russian Tanks comming up to meet my assualt but also destroy gun implacements, QUICKLY. Lightning fast, though I'm outnumbered, I got those 88s up on that hill in a matter of minutes rather than hours or days. Before the Russians knew what hit them, and I blew their defensive capabitlies out of the water. Melted down their tanks to scrap metal and the opels cut the supply centers, sabotaged the communications roads. Noone knows now that with say a few thousand men I've taken an Army 6 times it size. Perhaps with triple the equipment. Readiness is a factor...Tactics are a factor...So are guerallia style warefare that was close to Partisans. Moltavcoctails. A country that hates you and even the 12 year old boys will pick up an enfield hide up in a building and snipe out a half dozen hardened 6th Army Wermacht troops cause he's the only Person alive with his last name now, does he care if he dies? Nahhhh! Just how many Krauts he takes with him! The Yugoslavians didn't have the time and Hitler was setup to hit them like Lightning. If they expected the Wermacht they may have moved their troops from minor border skirmishes and faced them head on. Though to say their 150k of fighting force is not correct. If they were worse off than the Russians, I can't see how only that their capitol and infrastructure and pool of resources was destroyed. France could've fought on past fall of Paris. Not to accomplish much maybe buy Britian some time! You speak of possibilities. If I had #s and not all the neat things I spoke of that the German's had vs the Russians. I would have done as the Russians did, Suicide tactics<employed fairly well by Japenese>, walls of flesh, and a war of attrition. That the French<in SC> employ with the long drawn out Dutch Gambit and forcing Germans to rush to their capitol or lose...
  19. Shaka, the Brits weren't fools. Nor were the Russians that's why they recalled Siberian Reinforcement during the Winter they knew they needed them. While leaving the Far East Yakut more vulnerable. India would came 2nd, you can steam through the suez in a matter of weeks, aircraft days or hours. Netherlands didn't expect to be in a War. Nor did the Yugoslavians. So that's why they were unprepared when Blitzkrieg suddenly like a can of whooparse was unleashed upon them. Perhaps they would have be a bit more prepared to Surrender or conspire with the Allies and go all out against their foes... I doubt the Dutch or Belgium would've done much, they basically put their hands up. Many countries stayed neutral trying to escape War, including the US. Had they joined early, perhaps the Germans could've been slowed but they were looking out for themselves...selfish
  20. Barry, what about the British Indian Expeditionary forces and the British could care less about Japanese expansion in the Far East when her direct Island was under threat. They could have mustered as much as the Yugoslavs or any other nations represented in SC. Really anything more than a corp on the capitol of most nations considering the level of mobilization is too much... And making Yugo-Russian Partisands strength 5 corps? How could that be accurate, I fight more yugoslavs after the fall of the nation than I do during the taking of it. Furthermore the USA being attacked by what? Where would the Germans refuel resupply when the Americans mobilized even slightly, She could call her foreign naval forces to work. She had something in the harbors abroad. Not much worth a damned, mostly she sold her equipment to the Allies though she was under no threat until after Sea Lion was accomplished and by then would've outproduced Germany still in Military Might. Perhaps not quality. Germany would've had to built a surface fleet and two cruisers and 3 subs represented in this game if survived wouldn't win a decisive naval war against the US. The US would not let their Capitol fall to a corps! It's a ridicilious thought, an invisible corps just washes up on shore out of nowhere to suprisingly take out a Capitol and end a nations entire Military and Political Indentity. I'm certian of that. It's a very Ahistorical aspect of the game and you know it, that's like playing Command HQs in the the 80s. Most nations don't surrender at the fall of their capitol, even the nations under the Nazis though officially surrendered still fought on like hell against their opressors. It would've taken a much more massive Mobilization of German forces/Naval forces/Carriers<advanced units> and aid from neighbors adjacent to our territory in order to conquor the USA. The country would merely move it's Goverment West... As the Brits move it to Manchester and the Russians move it all over the bloody place. Subs were all the Germans ever got into American waters and a several spies that were promptly picked up on land....
  21. Hitler would have never floated that boat across without utter and complete domination of the RAF and Royal British Navy. She had more ships abroad, and vs Farmilie B's<you can stick a few dozen troops on one> light Destroyers or Cruisers are a Death Nail. Like a bantom weight vs a heavy-weight. Regardless of what she would have lost to raiding whatever she could have called up would've been brought home. Hitler's hope would have been in something wreckless as other's have mentioned like converted cruiselinera to move his masses of German Armor and much more time outfit his units once they had created a beachhead and controlled ports. None of this is addressed here, In SC, it wasn't impossible but it was EXPENSIVE! You'd need to give Britian more Industrial wealth also, she is weaker than her sister France which is not accurate. She was an industrial Giant and had much of her own junk boats leftover... What about the old dreadnaughts and WW1 style throw aways? I'm certian that the converted British Merchant Marine alone. would've inflicted 30% casaulties refitted with Bofors,etc.. So realistic, SC is taking it a bit far. and I can sit my entire amphibious landing force outside of Canada with no idea to the Allies, there were plenty of spies. There were more non Military ships than military and you don't have a clue, we had intelligence and in any coastal area for the most part usually knew if a big ship or transports were sitting there especially stalking for weeks on end like they do here... It wouldn't take but a few British Night bombers to inflict severe damage upon any attempt for Germans to sit there and just camp...As they do here... You shouldn't be able to sit your units, and the USA??? hahahha The American National Guard would've defeated the Germans. We worried about Hitler gaining control of some of the French Vessels. Though everyone says how weak the Brit fleet was. I have heard figures that the British had 28 main heavy ships??? Am I right? Similarly the French were up there and we were even higher... The Germans however had barely any... So it would've taken weeks, months, at least to actually subdue a British Navy and make Sea Lion possible. If you want to make many possiblities. Why not make more concievable things possible!!! Believable..i.e. instead of altering the wealth that the Brits recieve<and other positive flows how about a Shipment of P40s from the United States..some junk cruisers/destroyers/dreadnaughts Much more accurate........including putting on the Map 3 or 4 more british cities. The brits would've never surrended after the fall of Manchester... Nor would the US would have surrendered after 1 corp landed on D.C.
  22. Yes, you are right about the short ranged P.4 and the Lack of firepower in the P.3 the German's had to outthink their oponent, get around their flanks and hit them in their weaker points. The British a13 was comparable armor to most frontline German tanks, and that was the weakest British Tank. Although never around in great #s... Also the Matilda series<the right ones> were unstoppable armor, though very heavy. Also not enough in #s... You're absolutely right about German Air superiority, i guess the allies didn't realize the importance early enough. As it would have been a great factor in delaying German advancing. The Char1bis and the Somua, had the same turret. That was more or less like a Panther vs a slightly stronger Sherman. You could fire endless rounds of AP from a P3 into a Char1s turret and it would just bounce off.. In fact the Germans pioneered faster, more maneuverable and more numerous tanks... Much like their American counterparts a few years later :)The only comparable Armor to the Axis was the Renault that was a lt piece of chunk. Though the Somua in 1940 was the finest Medium tank in the entire world. I have heard that the Allies had more tanks and more aircraft and of course deployed wrong. In support of infantry rather than as line pounchers and fast routers. The Blensheim Hawk75, is roughly equal to many of the Luftwaffe fighters... The JU87, 109 and HE-111<corrected formely shnell bomber> were already obsolete by 1940ish... A lot of these I base of a Simulator I have played and books I've read about their equipment. Although even on a defensive role, the Allies should've bought a tad bit more time than they did. The Poles I hear weren't as bold as the Czech's or as brave. They were ready to fight in '38 with their awesome T38 which I find almost as nice as the P3...far superior to any other German tank available. Besides a worthy Airforce a combined Pole-Czeck front whilst the allies built a true # of Supply and equipment to match their German counterparts may have caused the War to be a lot shorter. Plus would've pushed other Balkan nations in perhaps and made the Russians very very Stressed!
  23. If the Germans could've found a crossing, IF! There may have been a loss of Britian to Germany. Was that truely possible??? I think any real historian would say, the chances were weak. Not only that, there is no accountability for what England would do if TRUELY under threat. She would have recalled other warships working in other areas of the World. The South Africans, Australians, etc... and even the Americans would've immediately UPed their support knowing the inevitable. Like Russia recieves a backup from War in Siberia so would England recieve a back up. It wouldn't be an easy War for germany, yes she would have conquored England but at HUGE cost IMHO. Not on land warefare but in the MASSIVE undertaking that it would be, would have cost the Germans.. huge casaulties, not properly reflected in this game... How many other ships would pool to British Waters in the event of Sea Lion can we get a Proffessional conclusion? Ships don't take 6 months to get home. They would come in the event of a True Fear of invasion<within 8 weeks time> i.e. fall of the RAF
  24. thanxs for the Comments on my posting Shaka... armies in the field are a big difference, communication<modern>, transportation, proffessional Western Leadership... At least Even Modern 20th century equipment...Though did every Yugoslav have a Rifle? It's grossly respresented, a million men if determined would be a very healthy force for the 3rd Reich to Crush in weeks... Without a "grunt" of manpower and equipment. This game is about taking real history into consideration. You can replace Tanks, with Sappers, you can replace Artillery with Guerrilia tactics and suicide squads. Depends on the flexability of the countries armed forces and mountain Warefare is a Pain in the butt which is bigtime in Yugoslavia. So you waltz in in what is roughly equivelant to 150k of Western Troops and stamp em out. The poles were fairly organized. They were a Fair military, only beaten due to lack of understand BlitzKrieg and likely leadership. Nomatter how ill a weapon is, it is still effective if used, and practiced again and again. If the Russians didn't have so much space to make mistakes, their weapondry would've succumbed to the much more modern Western German Power. Also if they weren't fighting during a Winter/with a long front from the Baltic in Leningrad to the Black Sea Rostov in the South '41... They learned from their mistakes and with far inferior equipment and it was not equal IMHO until around midish '43 That made the huge change between the Soviet fighting man, but still they used the tactic of #s vs Quality. They could've gone quality but the very nature of a Communist state is #s and loss of life being of little consideration... All these minors are misrepresented in that sometimes you wipe them out in 2 seconds. Other times you get a lucky Corp here or there. There needs to be a smaller organization of disorganized Fighting men in this War. That is Truely the backbone of most Eastern European Armies. The Romanians/Bulgarians/Hungarians I bet carried WW1 equipment at best. No mechanized ability, without their Axis friends. So they are no good really either. They had little or 0 Morale to fight against a determined Ally they were more worried about Obtaining more lands in the baltics as represented. Although the baltics were a poor area, aside from Ploesti...semi-strategic<not very> It was just a problem to be overlooked... So should the Russians with a lot of their beginning inf modeled after weak and badly equiped lead troops be somehow modeled say a Base Infantry Unit... With a strength of 3 that cannot be improved place all over the map for these countries. For true representation of their fighting capabilties. The Russians were torn a new rear end in WW2 until 1942 at Stalingrad. They had no idea what Modern warefare was, in this game they can play hit and run tactics that historically Russia was incapable of doing. She was in shambles for losing all that she did, and most of her backbone would come from LATER reorganization not early...After her troops escaped and her leadership woke up and properly equiped and fought an effective style warefare with inferior equipment. To sum it up, the BEF and the French were better military units than the Germans. I think that their air was significantly weaker and their tactics were old style... There should be a better bonus than just HQs for Germans in that situation and their should be proper penalties as the Allies later improved their technology by Worldwide Cooperation and a HUGE ULTRA wealthy Modern<comparable to Chinese military of today> USA
  25. One Important aspect of the game not covered. Though Eastern and Western Armies may not be porportioned the same combatant/Military Engineers/Medical/Vehicle support, and SO FORTH!!! There were supposedly a Million Yugoslavs in the Army at the time Hitler invaded. So when I see 3 corps at what military strength? I'm just Blahhhh, even Yugoslavia a small military power would deserve what Switzerland gets 2 full blown fully entrenched armies... It's a gross misrepresentation. What would be more accurate is giving the Yugoslavians at least 5 armies... Though Poorly Equiped and then perhaps divide the nation along the pro-Allied Coup and Pro-Axis Coup...Hurting supply...also well, they're equipment is a low rating, so we really should have different rating than Anti-Tank. How about Equiped Soldier's level. Like the American GI was the best equiped soldier of the War towards Normandy... Far better than their adversaries, which gave them a huge advantage. You can't properly deal with the Balkans, the way this game is drawn out. You'd have to have a larger Map for one. For two, you'd have to make seperate nations representing what the Germans would get say, free entrance into Serbia? I'm not sure how the War went. All I heard was Tito was a pain in the but and the Nazis admired the Zeal of the Muslim Soldiers... We need a larger map... We need more units on the map, regardless of anything
