  1. I played the CMAK demo but held off on buying it in hopes of getting CM2 (or whatever it's going to be called)... Haven't been here in a while, what's the deal on CM2? How long will it be? Will it be World War II or something else?
  2. I don't think so. Amazon.co.uk is selling it for 16.99 pounds and their usual shipping within the UK is quite low (2-3 pounds normally). Total is only about $32
  3. I'm looking for the cheapest price. If any of you guys know a good site that sells games in the UK please tell me. Oh and don't mention amazon.co.uk I already know bout that.
  4. Will there be a third installment or is that it? Cause the battle isn't really over at all
  5. Though I'm brand new here, I've met what seem to be some very interesting people with very similar interests to me (a rare thing!). This is just a post to find out more about each other in RL (Real Life)... just say your age, what you do, how you got involved in war gaming etc... I'll kick it off: I'm a mere 15 years old, probably one of the younger members here since most of you seem to be more "mature" (not all though ) in your posts I live in Casablanca, Morocco, and have lived overseas for more than half my life (first in Cameroon, then France, then Morocco) I've been interested (well more than interested actually , more like crazy about) anything military since when I was 3 years old watching the gulf war on television. Ever since then I've wanted to be in the military, with my current goal being to get into Army Special Forces, and then Delta Force, easier said then done of course but I'm working at it (i.e. running, lifting weights, push-ups etc...) I got interested in war gaming when I bought a game called "West Front" which I enjoyed thoroughly, before finally getting kinda tired of it after 2 or 3 years (I still play it with a friend in the States though through PBEM). Later I discovered a company called "GHQ", I went to their site, and viewed some of the coolest looking WWII miniatures I've ever seen, I quickly bought two armored companies for a grand total of about 32 tanks, and several hundred infantry. All of them are amazingly detailed and to scale, and the war game they are used for is very fun as well. Now, just recently I've discovered the world of CM, after seeing it mentioned at a game forum just like this for a game not yet out, called "Wartime Command". I highly reccomend you all check out the site, it seems to be the next step in wargaming, the graphics are oustanding, and the realism seems to be incredible as the Devs for the game have promised unsurpassed accuracy. Here's the site: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=155 Anyway, that's a shortened version of my life , at least that pertaining to war gaming... How about you? 6. Thx guys I'm going to download the demo ASAP but I have a couple more questions. In QB games (or whatever the random map games are called) do you "buy" your units? How about in scenarios/operations? Finally do your units gain experience as you go through an operation? Do units which are veteran cost more points (if you buy them) than green units? Do you see seperate characteristics for each and every soldier under your command (like in an RPG)? [ October 30, 2003, 07:18 AM: Message edited by: Scythe ]
  7. I'm hoping to get an answer from the devs here I'm asking if there will be missions with plenty of cover (i.e. mountains, gullies, etc...) in at least the sicily and Italy (especially Italy) scenarios/operations/QBs... I know Africa is relatively flat but I'm hoping Italy and Sicily will have lots of cover because I find maps with lots of cover to generally be far more fun to play then just flat ones
  8. Just curious before I get either CMBB or CMAK (or both)... how exactly does the much vaunted Real-time/Turn-Based hybrid game system work? I understand that players simultaneously give out orders and then when both players are done the game enters a 60-second "cinematic" period where these orders are executed, also simultaneously. Does the player have any control over his units during this 60-second period (i.e. to change orders in reaction to his opponent's orders)? Will units fire on newly spotted units of their own accord or do they have to wait till next turn to be ordered to? Can you guys just clear up this whole RT/TB hybrid system for me?
  9. I know this question sounds kinda stupid but I haven't been able to find the answer. Gamespot.com says CMBB came out in October 2003 (this month in other words) IGN says it came out almost a year ago in 2002 And the price of the game is $45 which seems to indicate it is a recent release since most games drop to like $20-30 a year after their release. So when did it come out?
  10. I'm considering buying either CMBB or CMAK (I probably can't buy both) but first I have a couple questions to ask you guys. 1) Once CMAK comes out will you be playing that alot more than CMBB (i.e. will you shelve CMBB) 2) Do you think CMAK will make CMBB obsolete or is CMAK more of an add-on? 3) Will the CMBB online gaming community suffer due to the release of CMAK? (i.e. will all the CMBB players move to playing CMAK) Normally I'd just wait till CMAK comes out and buy that but since I'm more interested in the eastern front than Africa/Sicily/Italy I'm not sure... What should I do? [ October 29, 2003, 12:08 PM: Message edited by: Scythe ]
  11. Hey guys... I've never played CM 1 or 2 but I'm considering buying CM2... it looks very good and has gotten oustanding reviews from all the major reviewers (Gamespot, Gamespy, etc...) My only other computer war game is West Front, I enjoyed that game (though it did get a bit old after a while) and for me CM2 looks like a better, 3-d version of West Front. If anyone has both CM2 and West please compare these two for me Now my next question: How big is the online gaming community? How many people on average do you see playing when you log in to play? Is there lag online often or not? Is it easy to find a game online? I'll be buying this game mostly for online play (I need a good strategy game for online play) and though the SP portion looks good (50-70 missions is huge!) I want good MP too. Plz give me unbiased opinions on my questions...
