  1. Well, with regard to Poland I can honestly say I sleep a lot better knowing you guys are watching the Eastern flank. In combination with the growing rapid deployment forces from Germany, Netherlands, Britain and other NATO countries, that means Good old Europe is safe for the moment. But I'm a pessimist, I think Europe's problems have just begun, even if Ukraine joins EU/NATO.
  2. Well, let me say this then. We're all Europeans and we need each other. Now more than ever. And after all is said and done, the EU is working. Simple as that. I don't dislike or despise Poland nor Hungary, just it's present government. As Butschi so enviable eloquently put it: "The EU is not only about economical integration, but also about political integration".
  3. These 18 Leopard tanks are being used to train new Dutch tank crews as part of the 1st German-Dutch army Korps. They can't be missed, so I agree with the German decision. But the Netherlands will no doubt buy Leopard 2s elsewhere to send to the Ukraine, on top of the 100 Leopard 1s that will be delivered in coordination with Germany and Denmark.
  4. She did, but I hadn't heard it yet. Apologies
  5. Nope, I spoke too soon. The news is correct unfortunately.
  6. You misunderstand the post, Zeleban. Read it again.
  7. That is of course an exaggeration. But there's also a Europe after the Ukrainian war to think about. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't be united in our efforts to help Ukraine kick the Russians out of their country and welcome them into EU/NATO.
  8. Time to forgive and forget, I know, and yet....
  9. Not really relevant, Chuckdyke, let's not go into that. My post will get enough flak as it is. Just wanted to bring some nuance in the eternal discussion about European division and indecision.
  10. Europe can be roughly divided into the Northwestern part (Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and the Scandinavian countries, unfortunately weakened by Brexit), democratic and cool headed, the Southern part (Greece and Italy), democratic but somewhat unpredictable and the Eastern part (Poland and Hungary) less and less democratic and therefor unpredictable. Use that as a rough guide to understand European politics and you can't go wrong. Although Poland at the moment is trying to picture itself as the frontier of Western values, it is justifiably seen in the rest of Europe as undemocratic, self centred, greedy and more and more dictatorial. This is one of the biggest threats to European unity for the future and a factor the rest of Europe can't afford to ignore. Combine that with the confusing political situation in the US and the uncertainty after the next elections there and one may begin to understand the European dilemma. When it comes to unity I don't have to explain to an American how complicated and difficult that can be. All in all I think the EU has performed a very impressive show in that respect since ww2, unparalled in modern history. The same goes for the European aid to Ukraine, which is equally unparalled. Countries weakening their own defence to strengthen that of another country. I call that damned impressive.
  11. In a country full of criminals that will only be a temporary problem.
  12. An impressive example of the many things going right in CM.
  13. Unless Ukrainian tank crews are already (being) trained on the Leopard 1 and 2 (and Challenger)...
  14. Hopefully not as heavy as the Carl Gustav. Had to carry that on several occasions and that was no fun.
  15. To encourage you, Phil, personally I like your winter mod for CMRT even better than the the winter look in FR., which is already very good.
  16. So did the dutch army. Made a lot of noise, but did the job.
  17. But what a great way to get rid of one's criminals
  18. Holland itself has no Leopards at the moment, except 18 German lease Leopards for training purposes (I'm pretty sure we will raise a tank batallion again soon) but the dutch government is investigating whether it can buy Leopards from another country and send them to our Ukrainian allies. So no panic please, we're doing what we can to make the Russians bleed and so are most other European countries. Ukraine will get the 300+ tanks it needs, of that I'm certain.
  19. I've purchases Red Storm/Germany Reforged some time ago, but never played it, which is kind of pathetic. But I'm playing it now and it's a solid game and a good companion for CMCW. It reminds me of Command Opps 2, which I love to play. The coming DLC sound superb, so definitely something to look forward to. And yeah, Dan, Ostfront 1944 would be interesting too.
