I gotta tell a funny story of modder's frustration.
Yesterday I sent a revised link for a few folks along with some scenarios. A few changes fixed some Char's not appearing properly. My buddy texts me and image of his screen and the tanks are now invisible. INVISIBLE!!!???
I almost threw my PC out the window. I then took a few breaths and thought...ok, he and I are playing a PBEM right now, all weekend really, I wondered...
Did you put the new mods into z and RESTART?
uhhh, no.
OK, that fixed it.
It is always something. It can be found. It can be fixed.
By you mostly. That's why you have to stick around.

Working on it. No screenshots yet expect for a bunch of maps, you guys want to see shots of German countryside?
Haha. Not really, Capt. I guess you have enough to do.
Edit: that sounds rather ungrateful, but I mean well.

FURTHER DISCUSSION: In the old days of greenasjade and CMMODS3 you could see Aris's mods get 300-400+ downloads. I think I remember such numbers. BFC never mentions number of sales for any titles. Maybe we are just a very small niche community like Steve always nags us at every chance. Maybe STEAM will show number of people playing online at once?
It's all possible. Personally I don't give a damn about what BFC thinks of us, same as I'm sure it will be the other way around. As long as they give us great games and we give them our money it's all good. Works for me. But I do appreciate they are there, that's for sure. Without them we would have nothing.
There will always be some bitter taste about what could have been, but will never be. France 1940, North Africa 1941-1943 etc.etc. Beggars can't be chosers, I guess. Personally I accept this because I've got all I ever wanted, but I'm sorry for gifted people like you, who could have made the difference and give us even more if their talents had been appreciated and used. On the other hand the most brilliant mods and scenarios hardly get any attention,as you experienced yourself. Perhaps that's also a reason why BFC doesn't bother to support 'little' mods like France 1940, Finland and Crete.
But don't underestimate your own efforts and the impact that had on a lot of CM gamers. Stick around, no need to sacrifice time, energy or even health on our behalf. Just help us with your knowledge from time to time. Make something if you feel like it or don't. You're too good a guy to be missed on this forum. Same goes for people like WimO@ and MJKerner@. Don't touch the game for a year or so, if you like, but just stay around. Don't be obsessed with it, but just enjoy it. We still have great times ahead, no matter what comes.

I have a collection of over 400 MB of building skins that I created for Normandy and for the Netherlands. I especially like the proper Dutch (Nederlandse) look to the houses. I have asked Shane how I can go about uploading that much material to CMMODS III. So keep your eyes open. I would also like to u/l Falaises's two church skins to CMMODS III since his Normandy stones colour and Dutch brick looks much more authentic.
Sure will watch out for these!

This is where I keep it all as of 1 May 2023.
Just another of my lone(ly) wolf attempts to do what BFC refuses to do.
You're not a lone wolf, you're a wolfpack. Seriously, you had such impact on CM that it deserved more attention, but perhaps i's is some comfort that you gave a lot of enjoyable hours to many CM owners, like me.
Thank you Phil. Gonna jump over Crete some more. Really loved Bagage Claim.

I guess it depends on how you define released.
I would often skip Bootie/CMMODS and just post a Dropbox link due to laziness or my convenience.
I recall 4 or 5.
Kiwi on Crete
Baggage Claim
The Mandarin House
Galatas Sleigh Ride - h2h only?
Silk Drop
-----
But I can check later this morning. @Aragorn2002
Please do, Phil. Great 'little' project. I did test play Bagage Claim.

Thanks for asking!
Coming along nicely. I have 3 scenarios done. Working last night on a 4th scenario. 1 more new scenario after that. uniform mods are almost done.
Am I correct when I say only one scenario has been released, Phil. I played one and it was tremendous fun playing from both sides.

When I was a student around 15 years ago, many of the old veterans were in their eighties. On their x-rays, you could sometimes see dozens of small shrapnels inside the bodies.
How vulnerable a human being is, and yet how tough.

Yeah, my grandfather had German shrapnel in his legs till his dying day. You could see the dark gray specks.
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't cause him pain. Where did he serve?

Impressive story. Let's never forget the real people behind our games. Bleeding, suffering, dying.

He served as NCO (Schuetze 1 of MG-42) with the 129. Infantry-Division. Fuessilier-Battalion 129.
First headshot on 13. December 1943 (shrapnel of own 2cm AA gun), second headshot 26.June 1944 during rearguard action. Survived the war, although sent to the Heiligenbeil-Pocket in March 1945 and died with 92 years
Because of these lucky circumstances, I have the comfort to create a CM-Campaign 79 years later
Life is strange, isn't it? Good to hear he had a long and hopefully full life.

It is the same with this book. 80% 1939 - Spring 1944, thereafter it is sometimes difficult to recognize the details. The history of 252.ID + 24.ID + the books of Hinze + the histories of smaller units like Assaultgun-battalions in combination - then you have a aproximate picture of the situation in this area during June 1944.
Not least, one of my grandfathers fought with a Fuessilier-battalion in this region where he was the second time severely wounded (headshot) on 26. June 1944.
Regards
Mr.X
In which division did he serve?
-
Is it perhaps please possible to have some screenshot for the upcoming British module?

You're welcome, JM!
Found another one on 260. I.D.

That´s right -these old books are very expensive The history of the 252.ID cost me 100 Euro
I have some more of these old books about 1st ID, 3rd PzG and some reprints of 5th JD, 71st ID, 44th ID and 24th ID.
24.Infantry Divsion was the neighbour of 252. ID in June 1944.
Most divisional accounts have a lot of information on 1939-1943, but less on 1944 and 1945. Is that also the case with this book? I must admit I have so many books, I sometimes forget which I bought and which I'm missing.
I hope one day a military historian of the calibre of Douglas E. Nash will start to investigate the German infantry divisions. Less glamorous than the Panzer divisions, but definitely worth the attention. Most information like KTB etc. are lost, but much can still be found.

Most of these books are from the 1960´s, written in German Language. Do you search for the English Versions ? This may be even more difficult, I ´m afraid.
I have literally dozens of them. All in German, which is no problem for me. Hard to find nowadays and ludicrously expensive. Someone should reprint them.

From my library of the WWII I own the Division`s History of the 252nd ID, written by their former commander General Melzer in 1960. Was that your question Aragorn ?
Regards
Mr.X
Yes, it was, thank you. I'm always searching for more information, nowadays especially on German infantry divisions in the hell of White Russia in the Summer of 1944.

Aragorn 2002: Where in Nederland are you? Anywhere near de Duivelsberg in Gelderland? If you've ever been there I'd be curious to know how my Teufelsberg map compares. I got the idea when I stumbled across an article on the web from 'De Gelderlander' that wrote about amateur archeologists excavating the 'schutters putjes' on de Duivelsberg.
Not near Gelderland, I'm afraid, Wim. But I do know that area. I will check out your map and let you know.

Technically what you did SHOULD work. I once did a funny Rommel mod and just to take a screenshot, I made ALL the Germans look like Rommel, made all uniforms look like his uniform and then took the screenshot by his famous half-track. EDIT: maybe one of your images was corrupted?
Not sure, but it's possible. I will look into it some more. Rather attached to those moustaches now.

That Buron map is simply brilliant. Haven't checked out the others, but what a way to say good bye.

Just kidding, Sublime. It's your opinion and I respect that.
But BFC is working on CMx3, so in the meantime producing more modules for CMx2 sounds like good idea to me. I'm still in love with how CMx2 looks and feels, but that's me. I'm conservative and old fashioned. And turning 60 this Summer...For me CM will always be a boy's dream come true.
