Only stopping along the way to commit as many warcrimes as they could. Mad respect over here.

Anyway, it took Battlefront 3 versions to add a toggle for music independent of the sound toggle. 1+ years to correct a real bug is in the correct ballpark.

A problem with realistic WW2 casting is that most of the private soldiers were very young men; 18-20 years old.  Company grade NCO's and officers might run as old as 25 or so.  Veteran actors are a decade older.  War fighting is a younger man's venue.  The Iraq War series "Generation Kill" captured that pretty well.

Yeah, I use all the levels when plotting moves and stuff. I use level one for good action moments and examining the terrain when looking for just the right spot to put a tank or team. There was a time when I could still deal with CMX1 but the graphics are just too dated for me. The few things left that it has over CM2 just don't cut it for me. I think what kills it for me the most though, is the infantry fidelity. I spent so much time wishing for 1:1, now that I have it I can't go back.

I haven't come across anything ingame that suggests it might not be 1:1 for soldiers and whatnot.

Until someone can post a save to look at I don't believe it.  I suspect from some of the posts above that a basic misunderstanding of how spotting works in the game is at play.

The "follow the leader" or convoy command has been a much requested (and IMO a much needed) feature since the CMx1 days.  It was mentioned as being on the drawing board for inclusion in the 4.0 upgrade, but somewhere between that upgrade's inception and its release it was dropped.  Like ammo sharing between vehicles, it appears that BF couldn't get it to work within their code.
Sadly, it's being dropped from the 4.0 upgrade does not forebode well that it'll ever be part of CMx2.  If that's the case then it's unfortunate because one of the most tiresome things about CMx2 is plotting the road movements for numerous vehicles.  It's just so much micromanagement with all the waypoint setting and use of the pause command.

My brother was a SP junkie for a long time. And I am talking pre Pentium. I couldn't get him out of my house once I got it for Christmas.

Oh, and I meant to say Soldiers At war, not Men At War.
Yep, so you don't miss something really cool, that you would have if not for the rewind ability. One of the only reasons I can play Total War games is they have a replay feature, though not near as good as WEGO. But man, what's the point of having all the killer 3D if you are going to miss everything you aren't looking at during the battle. How many times have you thanked the WEGO gods after catching something really killer because you bothered to rewind just one more time? A particularly dramatic vignette can make an entire battle and later you'll retell it like it actually happened. LOL. LOVE IT!

FB will eventually include the CW forces, like BN and FI did. No worries.
The next RT module will take the Russians into Germany to the end of the war. You aren't gonna see Soviets in FB. That's just the way they do it. Russia stuff is considered a different theater.

CM turned me into a WWII freak. I'd played Steel Panthers, Close Combat, Men At War, and a few others, but CM grabbed me like nobody's business and never let go. I'll have been coming here 18 years this October so that's gotta tell ya something. There's no other WWII/modern tactical games like it. The scope, the play styles, and the fidelity nail it. The game is very deep without breaking your brain. And with WEGO, there's just nothing out there that can touch it. WEGO kills it! WEGO has provided me with as much excitement, entertainment, and immersion as any movie ever could.

Hey, fellas. I feel your pain. I am a completest and want to do this mod (don't need DC until his people show up in a module). Even though the France/Holland version is complete I feel like I have left this unfinished. But I don't have a way to mod at the moment. I built myself a dream comp back in January for my birthday and unfortunately I can't use Adobe Elements 2.0 on it. As I stated somewhere else Gimp is out of the question, I have tried and tried to use it but find it frustrating, stupid, and anger inducing. Almost 20 years of Adobe has left me addicted to muscle memory! So, until I can buy a newer version I am afraid modding may be out for the time being.

I'm looking forward to us one day receiving some actual info on this module.  BF has been stating that 2018 is shaping-up to be a big year for them as to new releases.  So, hopefully, the wait won't be too long now.
However, I'm really looking forward to the promised patches to fix the issues that were introduced by the 4.0 upgrade: namely the TacAI's highly questionable behavior when under artillery/mortar fire and the Brens and BARs being reduced to single-shot weapons when fired past a certain range.  The 4.0 upgrade came out over a year ago, and a fix for these issues is well past due.

Update: Managed to knock out another 409 portraits over two separated days of modding. That's puts the count at 685 so far. The basic US portraits (no formations yet) are done. That leaves the Waffen SS, FJs, VGs, and some misc for the Germans + The US formations (God, I am not looking forward to those). Still a long way to go, but closer. Here's a peek at the US stuff.

Well, with the holidays and then some 3 weeks of subzero temps, I was set back for a bit. It was so friggin' cold in my place I couldn't sit in my little kitchen where my computer is. Probably best I take it slow any way. The last couple times I've done these mods it really burned me out. But I did manage to whack out 276 portraits today (about 8 hours worth of modding). Percentage wise it's low, but work is continuing. Tomorrow is my B-day so I may take that off, don't know yet. Here's a peak at some of what is done.

I will say this, its not quantity that counts.  JK posts a lot of stuff, but not all useful.  It seems to come in waves where he is literally 80% of the top 10-15 posts on any given forum.  Some of it game-related, some not.  When you take the approach of quantity over quality, you are going to get dinged by people eventually.  Frankly, I don't think I have looked at a JK-started post in years.
I have given this advice in the past to JK...when you stumble across something using that great tool called google, wait 24 hours and then revisit it and see if its still something useful.  And I mean useful, versus just interesting to you.

most people when they are not contesting a point say something like, yeah I agree, or true, or something to show they actually agree.  they don't present counters or alternate data etc etc.  My angle now is to bow out of this as I am confused now as to what the point of this is.. other than to say I think we all want CMRT units in CMFB... likely won't ever see it, but what the heck.

That's why I said "the only high-altitude fighter they had during the war." I didn't refer to any particular time period.
Quite capable? Seriously, where are you drawing this info from? The La-7 topped out at 6000 meters and was a low-mid altitude interceptor. Yak-3? Shorted-ranged, low-medium altitude, lightly-built fighter. It sure as heck wasn't designed to take on enemy bombers at 30,000 feet. You're giving Soviet fighter designers far more credit that they deserve.

The only thing that's comical is your idea that the Soviet Air Force was somehow prepared to deal with legions of strategic bombers and fighters that ruled the high-altitude skies. It flat-out wasn't. The only high-altitude fighter the Soviets had during the war worth speaking of was the MiG-3, and that thing was phased out fairly quickly in favor of more Lavochkins, LaGGS, and Sturmoviks.
Make no mistake, the Soviet urban centres would have been reduced to ashes in short order, had there been a war against the US.

Soviet fighter aircraft were designed for low- and medium-altitude tactical combat, and thus would have literally been gasping for air at the altitudes where the B-29s roamed. It's a similar problem the Japanese ran into and why the Germans looked for a replacement for the radial-engined Fw 190.

Ok, longer reply: I appreciate the work that goes into creating a mod like that, but without proper 3D models for Japanese troops, weapons, Marine Corp forces, and other items like TOE and Japanese voice acting, it just doesn't do it for me. Same goes for under-the-hood weapon modeling - ballistics, ammo loads, total absence of bayonets, etc. In sum, there would be too much suspension of disbelief for me to enjoy it.But hey, if you like it, have at it. I was just voicing why the mod doesn't do anything for me.
