  1. I would think that unintercepted Bombers should be able to attack an enemy convoy route tile within attack range if they are within spotting range of the bomber. Example: UK bomber in Edinburgh should be able to attack Norway to Germany convoy route if it is within the spotting range of the Bomber. Of course, an Axis air fleet stationed in Norway can prevent the bomber's attack. Simarily, a Lisbon based Axis bomber should be able to attack the Egypt to Manchester convoy route. Of course, an allied carrier can intercept the bomber force and force it to turn back. Likewise, an Axis bomber stationed in Ireland can attack convoy routes terminating in Manchester. Of course, Bombers that attack a convoy route can't perform any other action that turn. With this change two types of units - Bombers and Subs - can attack convoy routes. Any comments? Good idea? Bad Idea? Not Needed? [ July 28, 2006, 01:57 PM: Message edited by: Edwin P. ]
  2. Good work, I would consider using the Trigger % on some of them so you don't see the same popup's every game.
  3. The pass through feature is good, and as you say it recreates a key aspect of naval combat during the Ancient through WWII era. For the simplest implementation, I would consider allowing pass through when neutral units are involved - so that neutral units can pass through/by active units and active units can pass through/by neutral units without stopping. 4. You could add a corner land tile and a port in the southeastern Atlantic. Assign it to a nation named Uruguay which is allied with Germany. Then German subs and surface ships could be resuppplied from here, if they don't encounter any waiting Allied ships.
  5. Correct, you can't edit unit actions for reinforcement and attack. Great observation. In addition I have noticed how the AI will sometimes garrison the tiles around a city and leave the city itself unguarded, and continues to place an excessive number of HQs in a region where there are no units for them to support. I would also like to see the AI calculate which units can be destroyed before making its attacks. Often there will be two or three units in a line and instead of focusing all attacks on destroying one unit the AI targets several enemy units, destroying none.
  6. Thanks for the feedback JP Wagner. I agree with your thinking. In fact, I was thinking of have a popup that says - Do you want to create Ukraine, if yes then occupy Munich - so that it would be a player's choice.
  7. Any ideas on how to create Ukraine if Axis occupies: Odessa, Sevastapol, Kiev and Karkov? #POPUP= Germany liberates Ukraine #TRIGGER= 20 ; 20% Chance I could do it by making the Ukraine an active occupied nation of Russia, but then Russia does not get the full MPP production and suffers a penalty when Ukraine is liberated. Ideally, I would like to create the Ukraine only if Germany occupies 4 cities in Ukraine. Kiev would be the captial. If this event occurred and Russian captured Kiev they would get a Morale Bonus and Ukraine would be annexed by Russia. The advantage of a Ukrainian nation for Germany is no partisans in the Ukraine and Ukraine corps are available for purchase.
  8. Sample Choice Event Ideas: IDEA 01: When: Upon Capture of Paris by Axis Axis: Sir, should we accept the French surrender terms? • Yes, let them have southern France. Result: Vichy France is created • No, it must be an unconditional surrender. Result: Vichy France is not created, French capital moves to Algiers -------------------------------- Interesting Strategic Choice: Accept the French surrender terms and you gain lots of MPPs now while the French army and naval units disband. Decline the French Surrender terms and the French capital moves to Algiers while the French army continues the fight. You do not gain any MPPs until Algiers is captured. Capture Algiers and you gain control of French Algeria, French Tunisia and French Syria. ============================================= IDEA 02: When: Upon Pearl Harbor Event if USA is Neutral Allies: Should America focus its war effort on Europe or Japan? • Europe. Result: Standard Game • Japan. Result: USA War Readiness declines 25%, Early Siberian Transfer -------------------------------- Strategic Choice: The Allies can focus the American war effort on Japan and trigger an early Russian Siberian transfer at the cost of reducing the readiness of America for war in Europe. IDEA 03: When: Upon German Capture of all 3 Russian cities in Ukraine Axis: What is our policy for the Ukraine? • Plunder. Result: Standard Game • Make them our allies. Result: New Country ============================================= IDEA 04: Upon Capture of Warsaw Axis: Should we divide Poland with Russia? • Yes. Result: Standard Game • No. Result: Russian War Readiness +10% to 30%% ================================================ IDEA 05: August 1941 - Should the America Embargo Japan? • Yes. Standard Game • No. America gains Pacfic Fleet, No Siberian Transfer ================================================ [ July 03, 2006, 08:42 AM: Message edited by: Edwin P. ]
  9. It would be helpful if a goal position for an amphibious invasion could be a plain tile. Why - so that the Amphibious invasion can be used to seize a strategic position. Such as the Suez Canal, the single tile wide land corridor between Spain and surrendered France, or the narrow channel between Palermo and Rome.
  10. Are you sure that the Italian pre-DOW units are not assigned to a garrison plan. If so they will not transport. To get Free French Units to Transport, after Italy enters the War I had to set these garrsion scripts to only activate only if Italy was Neutral. PS: Units in transports have a much higher chance of becoming Free French!
  11. The AI would be programmed to make a random choice. Example: Popup_For= 1 (For Allied Player) Country_ID= 3 Text_Question= "Should America focus its war effort on Europe or Japan" Text_1= "Europe" Text_2= "Japan" AI_Response= 1 [70] ;(70% Allied AI selects 1st Option, otherwise option 2)
  12. Currently they do not. In fact, in the 1939 Fall Weiss Scenario, you will note that the Allies have 2 HQs, one for the UK and another for the Minors.
  13. Currently the Editor recompiles and verifies all of the scripts with each update and save. With rather large AI files this can be a lengthy process.
  14. Player Selectable Event Response popups give players a choice when responding to an event. Example 1: Should the USA Embargo Japan? Yes (Historical) - No Effect No = No Siberian Transfer, USA gains Pacific Fleet, Extra HQ (McArthur) and Army Unit Example 2: After Pearl Harbor the Allied player sees this question: Should the USA war effort focus on Europe or Japan? Europe - No Effect Japan - Early Siberian Transfer, Reduce USA War Readiness by 15% - 30%.
  15. I know the feeling, especially, using 1 when I should use 2, and then finding out that the French units I scripted to go to Cairo via The Loop, can't do it. Didn't realize my problem until I looked at the Loop event scripts. Ugh, and so stayed in place. PS: I thought that since Naval untis have a higher chance of going Free French I would place the French corps from Tunis and Beruit on Transports and send them via the Loop to Cairo, to ensure they were still at sea when France surrendered.
  16. Note that adding more majors is not that simple, as all screen interfaces need to be changed to support the addtional countries.
  17. Thanks for the updates. Looking forward to seeing your scripts. Have you found a fast way to test the AI scripts, all of my testing takes an hour or longer or requires me to build special campaigns.
  18. Agreed, in fact a plan might look like: PLAN_ID= 9 ;for fortification #GOAL_POSITION= x,y [number of sides][starting position] #GOAL_POSITION= x,y [1][3] I wonder if this is on HC's long list of things to do?
  19. Why can't French units (i.e. Free French units) use the transit loops or why are the transit looks scripted for only USA and British units?
  20. Normal Dude and Timshorn, What is the most important improvement to scripting that HC could make - aside from the Naval Plans which he is apparantly working on. For me I think that its Global Variables and Plans for moving Air units. What are your thoughts?
  21. This is AI behaviour when using a scipt that sent a Transport of size 2 from the USA to the port of Suez. I will test it again tomoorrow or tonight.
