  1. I like them both, that M1927/39 Regimental IG looks awesome on the battlefield
  2. Perhaps gun damage can also represent jammed turrets and other things that makes the gun inoperable or ineffective. I remember reading somewhere that early war german gunners used to aim for the joint between the turret and hull of T-34's in order to jam the turret. It might just be something I dreamt though
  3. I've seen pictures from the Finnish winter war of AT guns camouflaged with strips of white cloth instead of being painted white. I think this would look great in CM but sadly, my graphical skills are non-existent. If there are any modders out there who likes the idea (and if it's possible to make it look good in CM), I can try to find you some pictures of it.
  4. Burning knocked out vehicles block LOS though (IIRC) Great work on the AAR
  5. A definite must-have are all the beautiful CMMOS mods at Combat Mission HQ
  6. I live in Sweden and at least here it rarely snows when the temperature is below -15 C. I can't see why it would be different in other places.
  7. Sometimes when creating maps I need to have many small buildings close together so what I want is a tile with two or more small buildings on it.
  8. The only thing I think is bad about CM's graphics are the non-rotating wheels on the AFVs and guns.
  9. Multiply the calibre of the gun with the L/# to get the barrels lenght. A 75mm L/70 gun is 75*70 mm long.
  10. Bridge demoliton is already possible. Try area firing (use explosives) with an engineer squad or two on a bridge and see for yourself.
  11. Some german tanks are equipped with Nahverteidigungswaffe (close defense weapon). They are modeled in the game and you can see if a tank has one in the vehicle's info window. Here's a informative link: http://www.custermen.net/nahvert/nah.htm
  12. What BMP# are the treebases, soft ground and brush?
  13. Panzer IVD: 304 infantry, 5 mortars Infantry Squad: 82 infantry, 2 mortars Both of these were in the first battle of a Biltong campaign. An entire platoon and two tanks immediately became elites
  14. The program will generate a file and you can choose where to save it. Then all you have to do is email the file to your opponent. To open a PBEM file, save the file to your harddrive and start CMBB. Simply click the "Join Multiplayer" button in the main menu and then "Load E-Mail". Then just choose the file you want to open and click OK.
  15. In the deployment phase of a CMBO PBEM game I put my artillery spotter on a open hilltop in the middle of my deployment zone. I did this because I always forget that I have any FOs and I thought that if I put it there I could hardly miss it (I always deploy my FOs after all other troops.). Naturally, I didn't remember that they were sitting there until my opponent asked me who the guy he just killed on top of that hill was Oh, how I wished I had that artillery when my troops and his were shooting at each other from woods with 100m of open ground in between. He pounded me with his artillery and assaulted, routing or killing most of my troops and taking the only flag on the map. If only I could call in artillery, the counter attack would have been succesfull. [ December 16, 2002, 09:08 AM: Message edited by: KnivBjorn ]
  16. I can playtest the scenario for you against the AI and possibly against a human opponent. Just email the scenario to the address in my profile.
  17. Perhaps it is because if the soviet player looses all his AT assets, wich usually are his tanks when attacking, he will have a hard time taking out his opponents tanks with nothing but molotovs? Another possible explanation could be that german tankguns are good for destroying other tanks, while the lousy penetration of most soviet tankguns makes them more suited for an anti-infantry role. IMHO the germans have a significant advantage over the soviets because of this and BFC might have given the soviets more armour points to balance the game better.
  18. The best thing about playing the Germans is that their infantry squads have organic AT weapons (grenade bundles, panzerfausts etc.). I deploy my infantry in cover close to possible enemy tank routes of advance and give them a Cover Arc of exactly 30 m (the range they will usually use their AT weapons at). If an enemy tank comes close enough, my infantry squads will take it out and if it is enemy infantry that comes within 30 meters, I open fire at extremely close range, from an entrenched position. The trick with AT guns is to never show them to your enemy until you have at least one safe kill. I rarely use tanks when defending because AT-guns are both cheaper and easier to hide.
