IR Sites on German Tanks?
Björn Eriksson replied to Sgian Dubh's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
A quick google search found this: German Night-Fighting Equipment -
Then I suggest you try typing slower. Perhaps people will take your posts more seriously then.

They would be issued winter clothing (with a few exceptions). Properly equipped troops fight better than those who aren't. Winter equipment isn't just camo, it is also stuff like warm clothes, pelt hats, winter boots etc.
-
No, I think the crew were simply given a can of paint and some brushes.
-
 It was (and still is) common practice to repaint tanks and other equipment, even "for a few months". I think a tank crew would rather spend a day painting their vehicle than be killed because their vehicle is too much of a contrast against the snow. Panzer/Infantry tactics
Björn Eriksson replied to Martinios's topic in Combat Mission - Tips and Tricks
IMHO, it depends on the terrain. In large, open areas like steppe, I usually lead with my tanks (and a few infantry scouts), counting on them to discover and suppress the enemy. When the enemy is suppressed or routed, I move in with the infantry to deal the final blow or round up the survivors. If the terrain is more dense like in woods or towns, I lead with the infantry, keeping the armor in reserve to deal with any strongpoints I might run into. I never move my tanks into areas that have not already been cleared by the infantry, because in close terrain it is rather easy for the defender to create kill sacks for armor with a few AT-guns and tankhunter teams. On defense, I also keep my tanks in reserve. Armor is IMO only good for local counterattacks or to bolster the defense where my infantry is taking a beating. I hope this helps. -

Russian AI won't fire artillery
Björn Eriksson replied to cbb's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
If you haven't already, I suggest you try playing the scenario from the russian side and verify that the bunkers are visible in the orders phase of turn 1. I'm not sure this is the problem, I'm only guessing here -

In the editor I checked the LOS of the spotters and they all had LOS to enemy bunkers. </font> -
Russian AI won't fire artillery
Björn Eriksson replied to cbb's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
In quick battles, the AI will preplan bombardments only on units it can see in the first turn. Perhaps the bunkers you've placed are hidden by FOW? -
No, the Tiger and Kingtiger were not invulnerable, only very tough. Many late-war Soviet guns could penetrate their armour from the front, but of course it was easier from the side or rear. In my experience, a T-34 or T-34/85 (and most other soviet tanks) almost always get KO'ed if it is fighting a Tiger from the front.

Why are there no T28 or T35 in CMBO
Björn Eriksson replied to Nightshade's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Naturally, I was referring to multi-turreted tanks, not T-35's or T-28's. [ February 20, 2003, 06:52 PM: Message edited by: Björn Eriksson ] -
The SUPER RUSSIAN !!!!
Björn Eriksson replied to Skolman's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I was playing a scenario vs. the AI wich took place on a very hilly map yesterday and saw squads hurl grenades 100+ meters two times. Perhaps grenade range is increased when the thrower is in an elevated position? -
1.2 Cease-Fire Bug?
Björn Eriksson replied to Stacheldraht's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I might be wrong, but I think low ammo can cause ceasefires. Perhaps that is why it happened? -
Is there anyone out there who has any tips on attacking a prepared reverse slope defense? Everytime I run into one, my troops die in droves and due to the reverse slope hiding the enemy, I can't call in artillery or direct fire HE. Most competent defenders also have AT guns or tankhunter teams waiting for my tanks. The best thing to do is probably to outflank the enemy and attack him from the rear or side, but that isn't always possible because of time or other bad circumstances.

"The Forever War" campaign rules
Björn Eriksson replied to 86smopuim's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think Vils was the one who came up with the idea. -
Your (CMMOS) ship has come in!
Björn Eriksson replied to Gordon's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Great work, it was well worth the wait. I noticed you've misspelled "Panzers" on the Panzer page 1 (the one that shows in the top of the browser window). Thanks -
mods for better unit visibility?
Björn Eriksson replied to blackout's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
The grey bases were for the Germans in CMBO. They were changed to blue in CMBB, probably for improved visibility -

You probably know this already, but you can turn unit bases on by pressing shift-B. -
The point of an "assualt"?
Björn Eriksson replied to walpurgis nacht's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think the defender also gets more points to spend in the Fortifications category and a "deeper" deployment zone. -
How will CMBB run on P2 266?
Björn Eriksson replied to blackout's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I had to buy a better graphics card for my 500mhz with 8mb gfx-card and 128mb RAM in order to get it to run with acceptable frame-rate. I doubt it'll run on your laptop.
