  1. They are in there in the terrain features (near the buildings)
  2. It also depends on what Country your from. In Germany it is spell Korps. So if it is a German Unit it should be spelled the way it is in Germany. </font>
  3. Probably just left over from CMBB .... If you look hard enough you'll also find a bmp for the 'Human Wave' command.
  4. I like the idea of that low tech 'rumble'.... I've never hear of it before - is that becuase it was difficult to coordinate ... Were there any major problems with it ? Is anybody interested in giving it a go in BB or AK ? Lou2000
  5. As Sergi has said, there is no hard and fast rule. However you'll rarely hear a player complain that they had too much time to achieve the job i hand ..... but make it too short and you'll soon know about it After a few playtests you'll get a feel of how long it should be.
  6. .....If I may just interupt for a moment Just a few comments ... in response to this threads topic ... not any particular post or individual. Why are there few reviews given ...... I've played scenarios from designers from various locations - Although I dont play as many as I'd like, some I give feedback on, others I admit that I'm guilty of not sending any, not for any particular reason .... sometimes I just forget ! Sometimes I just dont find the time to go back to the site, find the scenario and post the feedback. BUT I SHOULD ! Appologies to any designers who's battles I have played and failed to give feedback. (no smiley, no sarcasm - genuine ) I also think quite a few people just dont get into the habit. If you mainly play QB's or BFC scenarios / operations there is no need to send any. Whatever the reason I dont think its done through a lack of appreciation for those of you who devote your time to creating the battles. There seems to be more feedback at the Proving Grounds that the Scenario Depot....Why? Well....I think that is mainly because people know these scenarios are 'beta' versions and rightly or wrongly people feel the designer genuinly wants feedback and their comments will have more impact on the finnished battle. There is also a core group of newer, less well established scenario designers at the site (Oh, am I gonna get flammed for saying that ) These guys are all playing each others scenarios ..... and learning from it. Many are only just producing their first scenarios and are confident that they will get feedback and advice not totally ignored ... or worse ! Whereas at the Scenario Depot I think people feel these are the 'finnished' product, not subject to change as they are produced by some of the 'recognised' names in CM scenario design. I would hate to think that we will no longer see the likes of rune, jwxspoon, andreas and many others making their works available. Hopefully whatever changes are made at the Scenario Depot will improve the feedback situation. At the SD, its not the quality of the sceanrios that needs to improve .... its those using the site that need to change. Remember, these are just my rambling thoughts on the matter and they dont really count. But this thread has served to remind me that I can be lacking in giving feedback where due. I will endeavour to improve on the situation. (go on test me ... email me a CMAK scenario to try ) Thanks for reading ... you may now go back about your business Lou2000
  7. I have to agree with Mr Crowley regarding map size. Especially in QB's with the potential for high amounts of armour. For me the current size is fine for Inf/Mech, but the force separation is a little small for Pure Armour / Armour / Unrestricted battles. Perhaps the map size should vary not only on the points value of the game, but also on the force selection criteria: A huge map with Pure Armour / Armour producing a larger map than Infantry / Mech. Unrestricted also giving the larger map, due to the increased chance of players picking large amounts of armour. As this won't/can't be changed then I'll just generate some suitably large maps and save them for use in armour based QB's. Its mildly annoying ... but nowhere near a game killer ! Lou2000
  8. My son is 12 and has just started playing on CMBO ...(I'm not letting my CMAK disc anywhere near his PC just yet!!) To get him going for the first few games I used some small QB's and I did something unthinkable to most people on this forum .... Turned OFF EFOW ! ..... I went kinda dizzy when I did this, but I'm feeling much better now He played the first two battles with every unit visible. That way he got an idea of how the AI moves its units around. Then we gradually turned up the FOW settings. He's getting the hang of it quite quickly .... Soon I'll have a Head-2-Head opponent that I might be able to beat . Lou2000
  9. Came across this whilst browsing .... not seen it before, though thought I'd post it. Appologies if it has been posted before. A good selection of pics (DAK / NZ / IT ) and some personal accounts of the fighting in NA. DWAR Lou
  10. Thanks Matt, If they work in CM then thats the only place I need them to work .... .... Now I'm still trying to figure out that 00001640.wav . Where the hell would that crop up in the game
  11. Pritzl, Thanks. As long as I can be sure they are playing in the game OK then I'm happy. I dont care if other programs (WMP / NERO etc) have problems with them, as long as CM doesnt have a problem. I mean I wouldnt want to miss listening to all my vehicles bogging Hopefully somebody from BFC will confirm this eventually .... but its looking good !
  12. I get the same 'C00D11CD' error message as Schrullenhaft. WMP took me to the MS website but couldnt find anything relating to this error. It's not just MS WMP9 that has problems with these files. I tired using Nero Wave Editor 2 (part of Nero 6) and that also failed to load them. As mentioned ..... Windows sound recorder plays them OK. 00000228 is a large explosion ... sounds like a building coming down. Schrullenhaft, thanks for checking and confirming this. At least I know I dont need to reinstall. However I noticed you avoided answering the hard question about the "Your papers - They are not in order " wav Thanks
  13. I'm looking at making a sound mod for this .... (some new background sounds). Whilst looking at some of the wav files I had a few problems playing them back .... Details posted in the Tech Support Forum. Would be interested in knowing if anybody else has the same problem or is it just my install ? Oh yeah and 00001640.wav = "Your papers - They are not in order". Anybody know when that gets used ! Lou2000
  14. Monty, You should be able to get the file from here... Lou2000 Temp Web Server Its hosted on my home PC, so the IP address will change if I need to reboot/reconnect. It should be good until sometime late tomorrow. It should support 'resume' if you are using some sort of download manager. Lou
  15. I seem to have a problem with a number of WAV files in CMAK. Is it me or is there a problem ? The majority play in Windows Media Player but some dont work. Checking the properties of those that fail reveals that they have a bit rate of 181kbps, whilst those that play OK have a bit rate of 705kbps. Examples of ones that wont play are 00000228 and 00000231 ..... there are quite a few more. I can easily go through and find a fuller list of wav's that dont seem to be working if required ! I'm using the BFC version of CMAK and the install didnt report any errors. So I'm not sure if it is :------ 1. They are supposed to be like that, WMP wont play them, but they will work within the game. 2. They some how got corrupted during install, but not reported. 3. These files have been produced at the wrong bit rate and there is a problem. 4. WMP is just not up to the job ( Hey shock me!) there is nothing wrong with the files. (I have only tried to play them back on WMP 9.00.00.3008) 5. Something else  Oh yeah and another quick question. When does 000001640.wav get used .... " Your papers - They are not in order " You should have got Andreas to voice that one Though maybe he's starting to sound too English by now Lou2000
  16. Thanks for the update Steve........ Good to know that there is still everything to play for.... keep us updated every week or so. Good luck to both of you.
  17. I did consider cronological order but found that I had to change the scenario names too much to make it fit and I wanted to preserve the original name as much as possible. It will help when talking about scenarios with other who haven't changed the original names. The ability to order them would by theatre or timeline would have been useful. Having added a prefix to the original names it does make any additional downloaded scenarios very easy to spot. Once I had amended the file names I saved them all to a zip file (1.3mb) so I could email them, but wouldnt really want to do that unless somebody from BFC said it was OK. I dont see a problem with doing this, but its always best to ask !
  18. Having had a quick look at CMAK over the last couple of days .... one thing that I wanted to change was the order of the scenarios. Instead of being listed alphabetically, I wanted them in theatre order. So I've put a quick prefix on the scenario file name..... NA = North Africa EA = East Africa CR = Crete SC = Sicily IT = Italy The result is this ..... Now if I want to play an East Africa sceanrio, its much easier to find. It has the added benefit of identifying the original CMAK sceanrios over any usermade ones that I download in the future ... obviously any that I'm going to keep I'll add the prefix to the name. Anybody else thinking of doing this should keep in mind that there is a limit to the lenght of a scenario name. I had to change the name of the 'Quick Play' versions to just 'Quick', otherwise the NA didnt show up. Also: Whilst doing this I noticed that the scenario 'Panic at Glea' is listed as Africa, but is actually in Sicily. Lou2000
  19. FRAPS 2 will capture full screen CM movies to an uncompressed .avi file. A 60 sec movie @20fps with sound comes in at just under 200megs ... then you need to compress it ...I used TMPGenc to compress and convert to mpg ... this brings it down to a little over 10 megs. The movie quality wasnt too bad in .avi format but lost quite a bit in the conversion to .mpg This was only a quick test and I'm sure that if I played with the settings a little I could get better results. Turning off CM's camera shake would also help as it got seriously blocky when the camera 'jumped'. If I get a chance and can capture a decent movie then I may post one for download ..... Lou2000
  20. And McMMM's other advantage is it can support CMBO, CMBB and CMAK all from the same progaram. All without even mentioning 'rulesets'
  21. And there was me thinking I had my own special stalker called Gail ...... ...Ah well
  22. I've been using McMMM all the way through the beta versions and have never seen this problem....(although it obviously exists). I have just tried with the latest version with my mod directory in a seperate location from my CMBB bmp dir (as I normally do) and have had no problem. I have also tried with my mods located in the CMBB bmp dir ... again I cant reproduce it. Lou2000
  23. I dont really understand why people are worried that CMBB will die ...... its not like CMAK has made BB obsolete. Apart from some fairly minor improvements (in terms of gameplay) they are the same game covering different theatre's. You only have to look in the CMAK BMP directory to see an example of that .... 1600.bmp is a 'Human Wave' bmp ..... not gonna be much call for that in North Africa !! For me AK will compliment BB and just give me more choice of where I can fight my CM battles. ....Long live CM**
  24. Do YOU know where South Africa is situated? Answer = FIFTH in the world South Africa ...Still its better than 15th
  25. GaJ, Thanks. I'll download the new version later today. I'll have more time available now so can go back to testing any new versions/features if you need it. Any of course I'll make sure it works on CMAK ... as mine arrived this morning
