  1. I assume you are using the keypad ...Try the other + & - keys ... next to the backspace ! Lou2000
  2. Never played TCP/IP so cant really comment on that one. However I disagree with the view that PBEM is "gamey" ... its no more gamey than tcp/ip ... in what war/battle was a commander ever given a set number of seconds to make his move ? Whilst IP'ers may be better against the clock ... PBEM'ers probably make better use of terrain. PBEM or TCP/IP ... both commanders have the same advantages & disadvantages ... therefore No advantage ! Just a damn good game If people want to experience "real war" the only way to do it is with a gun in your had and the knowledge that you may soon be dead ! ... and yeah I have ! Lou2000
  3. I think you'll find just what you are looking for here http://cmoutpost.net/lists/cmbo_german/pzvie.htm Lou2000
  4. Searching the web I found this description of the Battle of Hurtgen Forest ..... any scenario designers looking for a little historical inspiration may find it a good read http://www.5ad.org/hurtgen.htm If anybody does create part of this battle .. ... or even the whole lot (doubtful!) then i'd be happy to test it. I'd have a go myself but being a relative newbie to CM, I doubt i'd do it justice Lou2000
  5. OK maybe I was a little quick on the above post. A quick search on google turned up an excellent report on the battle of Hurtgen forest. Excellent read: http://www.5ad.org/hurtgen.htm Posting link to scenario forum in the vane hope that some talented designer can product some part of this battle Lou2000
  6. Whilst not a CM site ... I think most CM players will appreciate these pics ... http://www.jodyharmon.com/ww2.html Anybody have any info on the battle depicted by the first pic ... "Fall, 1944: A German Jagdpanther (hunting Panther) and a Panther G lie in wait for the Americans in their ill-fated attack of the German-held Hurtgen forest area." Could make an interesting scenario for CM The rest of the site is also worth a look. I wonder if the artist is a CM player ?? This Military History Forum is also worth a browse ... just remember to come back here afterwards http://theforum.skalman.nu/index.php Lou2000
  7. JonS, There is a CM unit Database around with all the unit details in it, including cost. I have a copy but cant find the URL .. though i think its on one of the sites liked from Combat Mission HQ http://www.combatmission.com/links/lnks.asp If you cant find it and still want it drop me a line and i'll email it to you .. its only about 200kb Lou2000
  8. Thanks for the link ... quick question ... If playing PBEM game do both players need this download or just one ? Thankx Lou2000
  9. What OS are you running ?? I recently upgraded to XP lost all java capabilities. Then I found out why .... http://www.thestandard.com/article/0,1902,28031,00.html You can still download the MS java machine via the web ... I think i have the link somewhere .. I'll post it if needed ... otherwise any good search engine should find it Lou2000
  10. Thanks for the Harpoon 4 info .. i'll keep a look out for that one Lou2000
  11. Thanks for the earlier link to the Endgame randomizer ... Nice little tool .. adds a level of uncertainty to the final few moves of a game. Gonna use it in the future Lou2000
  12. Been there , done that CMBB now at 42% Pity Harpoon4 isnt on the list ... though it seems it may never see the light of day ! Lou2000
  13. CM comments and small "wish list" A few minor additions i'd like to see .... In no particular order... 1. The ability to display/print details of allocated force prior to battle start or during unit selection in QB's. Could also be useful for scenario design. Also be useful in long/large PBEM games 2. When enemy units are spotted, unit ID for which of your units has LOS .. not all of them just your nearest or if two are equal distance then highest command unit. When playing large battles and an enemy unit gets displayed on the map ... i'd like to know exactly who has spotted them. Its not always as obvious as it seems ! Could be displayed in the enemy unit info screen. e.g. LOS=A1 3. In the Unit markers for enemy units no longer in view I'd like similar LOS info as above but including a time since last contact e.g. LOS=A1 -2mins Comments: 1. Love the game ... especially PBEM just need to get better at it ! 2. In addition to showing better terrain layout, Grass textures with "gird overlay" give a useful & quick idea of range as each terrain square is 20M x 20M. 3. CMMOS is excellent - thanks to the guys who made/support it 4. This Mod Catalogue site is looking better everytime i visit ! http://cmoutpost.net/lists/Catalogue.htm Any comments or additions to the above ? Lou2000
  14. Of course you could leave your heavy weapons behind undercover and just blindly run at the enemy positions. .....This isnt going to work very often but it'll increase my chances of winning our current PBEM game ! LoL ...If i see your guys suddenly rushing forward in your next move, I'll assume you have gone mad ! Lou2000
  15. Excellent work. Already helped me get a much needed Hetzer mod. Bookmarked for the future. Thanx for the tanx Lou2000
  16. Hi, Just backing up Schrullenhaft's post. I have just installed XP pro ... and had problems with CM text & graphics. Installed the Nvidia 29.42_winxp drivers and all cleared. The problems were caused by XP using its default drivers for my Gforce2 MX My Xp installation is a "basic, straight from the disk" install ... No updated from the MS site.
  17. For what its worth ...... I have just upgraded my OS to XPpro. XP ran fine using its own default drivers for my card (Gforce2MX) but CMBO had problems with displaying text/graphics. I downloaded/installed the Nvidia 29.42_winxp drivers and it cleared all problems. These drivers seem to work OK ... at least on my setup.
  18. Is there any way or running CMBO windowed ? Yes I know I can Alt+Tab and as im using WinXP pro and and Nvidia based graphics card I suppose I should be happy that CM is working at all ..... but the option of running it in a window would be convenient (sometimes) Thanks Lou2000
