  1. Hello Grotius! Making the med an Axis (Italian) lake will give the Italians the opertunity to own every factory and resource around the lake, and gives the opertunity to conquer these resources at your own pace. Italy can be as powerful as any other major nation if this is accomplished, so you are right in investigating this exciting opertunity What I think is required to own the Med, is to shut off the allied reinforcement route. This requires control of Gibraltar and Egypt. How to accomplish this? Defeat Britain. I know this might not be the exciting answer that you wanted, but it is my suggestion to you. If you defeat Britain, then you get Gibraltar and Egypt as a bonus It is not impossible to defeat Britain, espesically if you have taken your time defeating France in detail, in order to get your armies, Luftwaffe and HQ's as experienced as possible. Then all out on Britain Once Britain is toast, the med is yours. There are even bonuses to this that can be achived no other way. Free French surrenders as well, and the minor nations can no longer be reinforced (only British MPP can reinforce the minors) (ps..I haven't had the time to play with the new patch in case some of this have changed....what can I say....sue me:cool:) I am sure there are ways to accomplish the same by going all out on the Med, but I personally favor the way of knocking Britain out. This way, USA can be kept at bay as well, as the Americans will probably fear an invasion by now and buy all land units, leaving you with the total initiative, leaving you with your back free in the allout war against USSR. If the war ain't won yet, then you sure as hell have comed a long way to achive Sieg für der Drittes Reich! Anyway, if you don't like this approach, then as stated, there's probably a zillion other ways to accomplish your Grand Italian Empire. Keep it up ~Norse~
  2. Because a minor nation cannot build units on it's own, does not mean the minor nation is not sending off it's soldiers to war. Think of it as a chain of command, the initial armed forces of a nation belongs to it's own chain of command. Once the nation is occupied though, it sends off it's MPP's to say Germany, who in turn use the MPP's to build more units. When Germany builds a unit based on the MPP from Belgium, Denmark and Norway, you can bet that you find "Legion Norwegen", the SS from Belgium and so on in there. Clue here being that they now operate in Third Reich uniforms, and benefit from Rommels chain of command (HQ's). I abselutely agree with this. Not neccesarily unlimited sharing, but maybe a 1000 mpp limit? I have also complained about the effect of a British defeat before. When UK is defeated, even the Free French surrenders, which makes abselutely no sence, cosidering that they drew supply and lend-lease from USA! ~Norse~
  3. Because noone reads the manual anyway. That's what we got forums for, so people can come online and ask the same questions repeatedly
  4. I got HoI a few days ago, and I love it! The things people are whining about, that ahistorical outcomes may happen when they shouldn't etc. This is exactely why I love this game. It is TERRIBLY difficult to take a small nation, who lack resources, and send it head on against a huge power and manage to win. But it is possible! If you are very creative, and find some killer strategy, then who knows! Just for fun, try playing Luxemburg and go head on against Germany. As you see, it's difficult as hell, near impossible, but there is that small chance that just maybe, maybe, you can do it. And that's why I love it As for the AI, I think it's good so far. I played USSR in my first game, and Germany swamped my ass I was terrified, and started over in 1936. Didn't build more units in the beginning, but created my own USSR "Maginot Line" behind the Dniepr river, and doubled the industrial capabilities behind it! In front of the defences, I didn't upgrade anything... in fact, I'd even blow up the infrastructure there if I could, to bog the Germans down when they are coming. With that down, I massproduced elite infantery with engineer battallions added to them, and stashed them with great leaders at the defensive barricades. Few games allow creativeness like this, and I abselutely love it SC is good too, but it is a very diffierent kind of game. As for the real time versus turn part, playing real time really isn't much of a hassle. Playing real time gives you abselutely control of your units and your attacks. You can order your units to attack 7am in the morning, while using your airunits to harass them during the night. If you think it is stressing to play real time, don't worry, it isn't that bad. The pace of the game can be turned down, and once an order is given, it takes some time for the unit to arrive at destination, leaving you with time to focus on other units. If it gets too much, then you can pause the game. Yes, you can pause it in multiplayer too, and you get a few seconds of pause before the other players can unpause it again. So real time doesn't detract from your control of what is going on. In fact, it gives you complete control. ~Norse~
  5. Italy already starts out with much less forces than historically, if you think 1 army = 100.000 men (which it isn't). The Italian's had submarines, planes, forces in Sicily etc. None of this is given to Italy's setup forces. So I'd say Hubert crippled Italy due to it's initial problems, so you haveto spend MPP's on upgrading your Italian military to get it en par with the Brits. Considering that it would take 4 turns to buy a HQ (which is so very essential), 4 more turns to get the planes, the tanks near the alps, etc. I'd say that your complaints are uncalled for. It's already in the game. Unless of course, you simply think the Italian soldiers are Üntermensch and have some genetical disfunction that make them unable to fight, even if their equipment is upgraded and their officercorp is given the upmost education... If this is your attitude then you lack insight (among other things...). Explaining the poor performance of some Italian units in the war, cannot be explained with "but they are Italians!! they CAN'T fight!!" Italians created a huge empire that lasted over a thousand years. This already proves that they "can" fight. Soldiers fight with the odds their leaders give them. If you want your soldiers to fight better, then improve the military doctrine, improve the training, improve the logistics, improve the equipment and put capable people with insight into the leading positions. Then your soldiers can gain the advantage over the enemy. (this one is also for you CvM, who claimed that manpower can never be developed...) It is stupid to suggest that the Italian units should have worse performance than the rest, simply because they are Italians. ~Norse~ oh yes, also Rambo is of Italian orgin....
  6. Okay, its impossible to develope better manpower.</font>
  7. YEAH!!! I love these threads What is the count up in now?
  8. I acknowledge that this forum have had way too much of this going on. You're not the first one to write a farewell post JerseyJohn. Atleast have some fun with the game ~Norse~
  9. CvM, are you having a severe case of analphabetism? Oh, you are not illiterate, you are only Canadian... mwhaha GO INVADE FRNACE IN JULT 1040 YOU BABBLING BARBARIAN! Hunt a polar bear while you're at it! ~Norse~
  10. The Polish attacking with lances. Now I've heard that too. ~Norse~
  11. Yeah. There is a battlescene in northern-Africa. Patton leads his forces to meet the Germans, and the Germans are moving up towards Pattons forces. Patton stands with binaculars and takes a look at the axis, and he see this. German infantery is walking at a given pace, wearing their uniform, equpiment and weapons. The tanks are driving among the axis infantery, and the tanks are driving at a slightly faster pace than the infantery. So the infantery just walk there like lemmings, and the tanks just roll over them. Then Patton sigh's, and says "what a waste of human life". Patton as a general deserves all the respect he can get. This movie does not even deserve to have the name "Patton". ~Norse~
  12. They lost all of those buddy, (...) CvM</font>
  13. Yeah, Patton is a really good movie... like when the German tanks just roll over their own German infantery, yeah... of course it is all true... definately not a propaganda movie... Definately the best movie I have ever seen! ~Norse~
  14. Well, it is using the Europa Universalis game engine, and Europa Universalis II lasts from 1419 to 1820. Game reviewers keep complaining that the game takes 400+ years to complete. Otherwise it's good though. ~Norse~
  15. Does anyone here truly know what morals are anyway? ~Norse~ [ November 08, 2002, 04:06 PM: Message edited by: Norse ]
