  1. Soooo, whenever I want to train my jet pilots, I just need to let a partisan spawn? Gorski
  2. FoW might just be too hard for the AI. I might just turn it off. Gorski
  3. Gameless in Oakland, Aesop in LA got his today. Bunch of us in the Bay Area. We need to hot seat a few games. Especially for Straha. Gorski [ August 03, 2002, 03:28 AM: Message edited by: gorski ]
  4. and the chance of getting no tech increases is 75% to the 4th power. about 31% Gorski
  5. He probably did mean 'affective'. There was much luv in the mannerheim line. I rest my case. Gorski
  6. Maybe give Finland an HQ, but otherwise leave it as it is. The only qualitative difference between various countries armies are the HQ's. Hubert would have to change many of the HQ rules to let minors be commanded by majors' HQ's. Then the game would have to be play balanced again. Gorski
  7. Case has one too. Three of us there so far. Do a search on this board, I can't remember the link. Gorski
  8. Vote no on proposition 'general sacking'. Gorski
  9. <-retail manager. You will probably never see me post between 6am and 10 am pst. Gorski
  10. I think Wagner is right. You should only get sec if you are prevented from moving to the designated hex. Prevented as in the hex is already occupied or a zoc stops you. I don't know how this would change the game, so it should be tested first. For all we know, Hubert has already thought of this and decided on the present system. Gorski
  11. I am also leaning towards a late Barbarosa, but I need to see what the Russian force pool looks like at different times. Keep USA out of the war as long as possible, which means only attacking the standard countries in the early years. A big attack on Russia is a critical part of the game. You never get a chance to do this much damage to a major country except your 1 shot at Barbarosa. another thing we don't know about from the beta is when an unprovoked USA enters the war. +10% readiness every turn starting in late 41 or what? Gorski
  12. First of all, I agree with you guys. Second, don't accuse someone of cheating until you have played the game quite a bit vs humans. There is a lot to learn before you really understand the game. It's kind of like 'Axis & Allies'. On the surface, beer and pretzel game, but underneath you have a game where a novice can't beat an expert more than 1 game out of 10 with luck. Third, I often click somewhere by mistake and removing the undo option could really screw up a game. You already can't undo a move that gains you any infromation, that's enough for me as long as the naval cheat/undo scouting gets fixed somehow. Gorski
  13. Assuming no battle for the Atlantic, I will build an HQ and airplanes for USA to support an early invasion of Europe with the Brits. I don't think the Germans can win the battle for the Atlantic in the early years. If they try, I am more than happy to fight an expensive war in the Atlantic instead of a risky invasion. Late war tech 5 industrial with tech 5 subs is another discussion. I don't feel that early war tech investmensts are wise for any of the allies. Maybe that's why Hubert gave USA 1 and Russia 2 research points to start with. Gorski
  14. Not true. The allied general at salerno was an idiot. He did not expand the beachhead in the first few days before the surprised Germans managed to move in forces to contain Salerno. Gorski
  15. Me too. It might be easiest to just let armor move 1 hex in any direction after killing a unit. Gorski
  16. I did some tests also. The range seems to make a difference. A tech 5 rocket can fire 5? hexes but is most effective at range 2. A unit in the open is far more susceptible to rocket fire than a unit in a city. My current opinion of rockets, limited by beta demo experience, is that they might be an excellent late war attrition unit if you have total air superiority and semi static battle lines. Gorski
  17. It might be nice to be able to turn fow on for the human and off for the AI. Gorski
  18. OK, so that was sound effects from Superted getting spanked by one of the beta testers? Were you playing axis or allies? Seriously, just a paragraph would do. It does't have to be a real AAR. Comments like 'Russian front stalemates after 1 year and becomes an attrition war' or 'early D-Day seems a little too easy to accomplish' Gorski

  22. AF's were too powerful in the beta demo. It was possible to base your entire strategy on air power. This should not be. I have not played the gold version much, but the AF seemed fine when I attacked France. Gorski
  23. I know bruce already commented on this, but I had to throw my 2 cents in. The casinos make their money by having a better chance of winning than you do on each bet.(blackjack, craps, etc) If you count cards at blackjack and play with the right rules, you turn the tables on the casino and have a slightly better chance of winning each bet than they do. If they catch you card counting, they will kick you out(or worse ) because they are a business not a charity. Gorski
  24. I have not heard anything from the beta about 1v1 full length games. C'mon throw us a bone. Gorski
