  1. If you move a unit to the starting hex for the second Russian cruiser before DoW, the Russians only start with one cruiser. That must be the cruiser that Rudel sunk. Gorski
  2. I have not tried it that way. How do you continue to move and fight with 0 supply? This tactic only works vs the AI right? Gorski
  3. You probably need to use your HQ's and watch your supplies. I try to kill four Russian armies and cut off one more on the first turn I invade Russia. Gorski
  4. You don't really need all fast units. Your advance is restricted to the speed of your HQ's and waiting for cities to grow to 5 mpp.(assumes scorched earth). I generaly use no German corps because they use up command points. Gorski
  5. I have. If I remember correctly, a strength 15 hvy bomber can do 8 damage to a mine and can fly unescorted without getting shot up too badly. Gorski
  6. England can trade mpp's with Germany at about a 1:2 ratio by strat bombing ports with two air fleets and a strategic bomber if the Germans do not leave air fleets to intercept. This is a great exchange ratio when you have no other means to attack Germany. The mines will probably be garrisoned and the cities are too costly to strat bomb. Gorski
  7. For strategies against the AI, scan the board. There are quite a few ideas already posted. With a human player, losing paris on turn four or killing a panzer and losing paris on turn three are about as much as you can hope for as the Allies. Currently, my favored strategy versus human players is to evacuate the French air fleet and two? armies and then disband them after France falls. Gorski
  8. I lost a cruiser today because I couldn't select my path of travel. This is the only time I recall needing to select a path instead of using the computer default path. Hubert, any plans for allowing you to keep moving as long as you have not used up all of your movement points and have not spotted anything? Gorski
  9. French Naval units have a % chance to become free French units. I believe this is buried in the old posts somewhere. I don't recall if it was actually Hubert that posted this. Gorski
  10. Will we still be able to disband free French units that have been evacuated to England? Currently we get full value for all disbanded free French units. Gorski
  11. I don't think it's based on need. I think the computer selects HQ's one at a time and 'commands' the closest 5 units. The computer might select HQ's by scanning one row or column at a time and selecting whichever HQ it finds first. This is all guesswork on my part. Watch the HQ command patterns during the blitz of France and Russia and you will see what I mean. Gorski
  12. If you really wanted to play beyond 1946, you could make a custom 1939 scenario with the tech and units on the map from your 1946 game. Might work, might not. Gorski
  13. Stronger 1940 Russian setup? <Tosses operation Russkie Flusher down the toilet> Back to work you staff pukes!!! Gorski
  14. Tweaked how? I need to notify my G3 department ASAP. Gorski
  15. I loved Eastern Front. It seemd like it had great AI, but all the AI really did was divide up it's forces evenly to match your deployments. Gorski
  16. The Russians do not invade because you DoW on the Baltic States. They invade when their war readiness hits 100%. While conquering the low countries and France, if you only DoW on the Baltic states, the Russians will leave you alone. Gorski
  17. Aesop, I sent the turn Tuesday night and again 5 minutes ago. Let me know if you get it. Gorski
  18. From what I have read, a city can not contribute to the supply line until it reaches 5 mpp. What you might have witnessed was your HQ moving too far away from the nearest level 5+ city. An HQ can also act as a supply point for more distant HQ's. Gorski
  19. Improved demo? What changed? Gorski
  20. I second that vote. Bill Macon's spotter idea sounds good if it's easy to add. Gorski [ June 19, 2002, 05:32 PM: Message edited by: gorski ]
  21. The USA strategic bombers were not used extensively. On two days, the USAF did carpet bombing of German frontline units instead of hitting strategic targets. The first attempt was a disaster. The bombers killed a high ranked american general and quite a few american soldiers. Also, the bombs were too big, and the resulting craters made it too difficult for vehicles to advance. The second attempt went better, but I can't remember the details. The Germans didn't survive these attacks in very good shape, but it wasn't as big of a success as you might think. Gorski
  22. I need an opponent to play SC for a turn three Barbarosa. Special rules as follows: France disbands everything and surrenders on turn 1. England and U.S.A. stay neutral. Germany must declare war on turn three vs Russia. Italy is free to act. Options:fow, scorched earth, and both partisans are on. Pick whichever side you want. Gorski
  23. I meant vs human opponents. The SC AI is great compared to AI's in other computer games, but the SC AI is still hopelessly outclassed by human opponents. You can't make play balance decisions that will be good for both human and AI games. (At least not in this case) Gorski
  24. It's not all that easy to hunt down the German ships. If the Germans use their air power, the English will lose their entire home fleet to kill 2 cruisers and a sub. Gorski
  25. How hard is it? Comments welcome.... Gorski
