  1. **SPOILER*** Hi Rune, Sorry about the confusion but speaking for myself, I was not thinking of one of your scenarios. The description of a crack KT vs. T34/85s made me think of Marxdorf which is not one of yours. Mad Bull and I played that a while back and it left a bad taste for me.... What is the name of the one you wrote with a KT? I'll be sure and play the german side when it comes up! Cheers, Sarge</font>
  2. Try "Seelow Heights", an operation by Warphead, depicting one of the many important battles near Berlin. You should get it t Boots&Tracks.
  3. It may be hard for you to understand, but thats what historical means. I really apologize for the forces in WWII who fought each other without keeping in mind the proper point/force matchups that are so very dear to the ladder whiners 60 years later.
  4. Very nice. Looks fantastic on summer maps. (soon I'll need an extra HD for storing CM mods..)
  5. Priceless!! Did you know that Talonsoft never patched the German version? You had to use the bug-infested 1.00 all the time. To make up for it, the US version was cheaper. Only problem was that you couldn't get it in Germany. Never, ever will I buy a game from that company again.

  7. Gun spotting depends on a lot of variables and was EXTENSIVELY tested in the beta team. Any cmbo veteran can attest that guns are harder to spot than in cmbo. In cmmb they are very effective. (you know that a flak88 is easier spotted than the tiny 37mm )
  8. Tanks bog. It depends on a number of variables, most of them are in the manual. "open" is the most unlikely terrain to bog in, but a small chance is there. (as "open" spaces in real life are designed by nature and contain all types of non-standard thingies from dog**** to grilled anacondas to dinosaur-skeletons). I think it's ok that way. Because some people here perhaps didn't realize it: the "bogging bug" in the demo and ver. 1.00 got fixed in 1.01
  9. Hi Colonel, do you play 1.01? I had no problems with (unusual) bogging for quite a while now. Not more often then a PzIVe nailing my T34 with a "front turret partial penetration at weak spot" (don't ask) with the first shot.
  10. very enjoyable... good tnt chucking and BUMPing on both sides.
  11. Point for point: This are very good news. (indeed, the news are dated though) 1. this will reduce the problems a lot (yes, and YOU made it happen! the community bows before you.Oh, I forgot it was changed weeks ago. ) 2. it prooves i was right (no, it doesn't.) 3. it prooves once again, provocative articulations are quite confusing for philistines, but they clear things and quite often force the decisive people, to explain their position (No. It proves, once again, that you like to piss people off with your rants and that your social skills are lacking when it comes to debating a topic. If you want to celebrate this as a victory, go ahead. I also did this quite often(back when I was 14). The fact that you are probably older than 14 only makes it worse.
  12. Thanks Treeburst. Great. Either I didn't apply in time, or didn't make even the replacement list. Sigh, waiting for the next...
  13. No, I fully understand what you want. It just doesn't matter much to me and will IMHO lead to more bad than good. Regarding to my comments explaining why I don't like ladder-games you replied: In a previous post (page 2) you wrote: As I commented about ladder play, I felt I should clarify why I don't like them anymore (thats an opinion that AFAIK everybody is allowed to have), and to dispell your notion that I (among others) don't know what I'm talking about. Perhaps I was also a bit offended that you called my post "BS". This documents nicely what your problem is. I don't whine about ladder players. You made this up. Fact is that there are enough other good players around who, like me, enjoy playing in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Why should I bother then? Is that so hard to understand, here?! BTW: you can question my player skills as long as you want, there is no ego for me to lose (I know that you possibly can't grasp this concept, as shown by your statements above. I already said that I won and lost.) I'm not bitching. Each to his own. I'm sure you can prove that. And finally another quote, this time from page one: Are you sure about this?
  14. Herr Schoerner: I like surprises in my games: you don't. No problem here. The main reason I don't play ladder games anymore is that many opponents played only for winning. I play for fun.(that doesn't mean that I don't want to win, but it's not my main motivation) I like to exchange some words in my email apart from "next turn" once in a while, like silly taunts and outrageous predictions. And if I loose, ok, then I loose. I've seen too many ladder players reacting very badly if things went downhill for them. back to the topic at hand: IIRC it was an oversight that the players receive different info. I'm not sure if it will be corrected in 1.02 and too lazy to search for the relevant thread where this was answered.
  15. did you think about scanning it and posting the picture?
  16. Hi Mr. Treeburst. where can I find the players list? regards, Lindan
  17. IIRC, there was a discussion over this already. (one player not getting the same info as the other in a pbem). I can't remember though what BTS' answer was. you know, it was another of that "you beta-testers are all a bunch of total losers"-thread. I tend to forget about them after a while... The question about ground conditions: before I move any units I check the ground conditions. It's part of the game. The uncertainty is part of the fun (for me). And it reduces the uberarmor somewhat, which is a good thing (for me). I also like to set casualties quite high, as it makes for more uncertainty and (you guessed it) even more fun (for me). I'm going as far as really enjoying the "pc picks forces"-option (ouch, did I see the ladder players duck and run for cover?? Sorry, please come back). I understand that ladder players like it as predictable and chess-like (read: boring (for me))as possible. that's the reason I (yup, that's me)don't like to play against them. it's plain unfun in most cases (not all). And thats the reason why I (me again) don't care if I know the ground conditions beforehand. Never did. Never will.
  18. Para agreed that I put the finished AAR up on my page (converted to HTML). I'll include it as a zip file too. If Mr. Goodale agrees I'll put it up soon after both finished writing it.
  19. must be your setup. works perfectly for all people I know. (me included ) best bet is to post this in the tech support forum and include your relevant system specs.
  20. abstraction: IIRC, a foxhole is representing several foxholes spread over the 20mx20m tile. edit: I can't believe I just wrote "over" with an 'f'... [ January 05, 2003, 02:42 PM: Message edited by: Lindan ]
  21. ROTFL! (Yes I know, he was on a StuG, not a Pz II blabla...) Cool AAR sofar. My money is on Para, he kicked my a$$ twice so far.(ok, this doesn'T mean much ) can't wait for the next.
  22. Ditto that. I've been doing that since the C-64 days on 5 1/4"s. Now I burn two copies for myself, and sell the originals on e-Bay to get as much $$$ back as possible. I just pad the shipping costs to cover the cost of buying the game at EB or wherever. As for piracy, hey, it's only illegal if you get caught.</font>
  23. it's an undocumented feature. I forgot how it worked.
  24. Here is the link to vote for the "Best Strategy Game 2002 Award"! VOTE! edit: you can vote for CMBB in the category "Overall best game of the year" too. [ December 11, 2002, 08:00 AM: Message edited by: Lindan ]
  25. hehe, IIRC I tested this jewel during the early beta days. I can't even remember the result (I remember the fighting but not the AAr screen). I'll give it a try tonight and see if I'll get a spanking.
