Mod help wanted...what file is it?
mchlstrt replied to Scipio's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
That looks like a vehicle Interior .bmp to me. If it is I'd say it's a 'Fix. Or do sumfink'. -
How many from Europe are buying from the US of A?
mchlstrt replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Does anybody know the Weight & Dimesions of The Package, for shipping purposes? I ordered the 'Combo Pack' so I could try to suck a friend of mine into this with a BO 'Present'. It came in the USPS envelope about the size of a notebook. I don't know if BB only comes in the same thing. Thanks Strt -
Ah, I'm not used to hearing those 'exe' type words used in relation to Macs. It's a long way from ruining my life or anything, but I'll try to pay more attention just in case it's something that should be known about. Thanks Strt

I'll handle a few of the US/Euro tranships since there still seems to be demand. Is the US shipping container OK? Can I put another lable on it, or put it in another envelope & just send it on? Also, has anybody formed an opinion on the best way to ship. I suppose this varies from place to place, so the 'Shippee' should probably make this call. Any info is appreciated. E-mail in 'about box', or whatever that thing up there is called. Ok, no it's not: mchlstrt@hotmail.com Strt [ September 21, 2002, 05:26 PM: Message edited by: mchlstrt ]

Getting American version of CMBB in Europe
mchlstrt replied to Brightblade's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
OK, I'll do a few. I'll start another thread about it but I'll give you guys in here first dibs. Strt -
I'm on Mac, I think you're talking 'windrese' here. Like I said, I certainly don't know, it's just that CM stuff like BO & the Mod Mgr are acting much stanger than usual. It could easily be something else. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this. Thanks Strt

MADMATT! Read this please :)
mchlstrt replied to Volker's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think I have to come down in the Mod Forum camp, 'though I do think the Main Board will clear out a little as people get The Game. It could be useful to have a place to discuss the more 'technical' aspects of Modding, the way Scenario guys discuss tweaking AI behaviour & such. Also, Volker, would you consider editing the Thread Title to reflect the subject? I'm a bit surprised more people haven't weighed in on this. I seem to be having trouble w/ BO since installing BB Demo. Not sure at all, just wondering if anyone else had noticed this. I'm on Mac. Strt

Winter mods for UK support vehicles
mchlstrt replied to KG_Jag's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I don't think there's anything for the CW ACs. Check Kump's Mod Catalog, I think there are a couple for the White. Strt -
What happened to all the CM websites?
mchlstrt replied to Juju's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I've been thinking about this too & thought I'd bump this & throw a couple of things out there. A lot of sites come & go & move. A serious WebLink update, probably at CMHQ in particular (sorry guys) would make a big diff in allowing some content to be spread out effectively. This was one of the big +s with Kump's Mod catalogs, & he missed a few that I know exist, but haven't waded through all my '@#$% crashed & have to restart' Links to find. I don't know that much about it, but I gather the Free Webspace days are drawing to a close. I have a feeling there will be even more, not fewer Mods coming, all in HiRes with the AutoLoresization Feature in CMBB, & that's alotta k's. We have the advantage in this Community of a higher proportion of, er, more mature, established folks for whom a few bucks for a Good Cause here & there is not as big a problem as it might be with other online groups. If there were one or more 'big' private Sites 'recognized' unofficicially by the Community some kind of 'Tip Jar' arrangement might be helpful to everybody. The other thing that always goes with 'Money' is of course 'Time'. I believe this is what knocked "CombatMissions" out of the box. The bigger & more important to the Community a Site is, the more attention it requires. A way of spreading that Load might be even more important than The Money Problem. Again, I must admit I Don't Really Know What I'm Talking About & also that I don't have anything Actually Useful to contribute. I just think this is a worthwhile Topic for consideration. Strt -
I want to learn how to MOD!
mchlstrt replied to al hernandez's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Yes, Layers is the one I'd second, uh, first. Put everything you do on a new Layer 'til you run out, & then group them together thoughtfully. You'll be very glad you did later. Taking images apart is much harder than putting them together, trust me on this. Strt -
Help!-BB to BO uniform mod
mchlstrt replied to pixelflesh's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The BO Pzr hat is BMP 5030, which is shared by all other German Hat-wearing units. However the polygons are a different shape I'm pretty sure, so it probably won't look right. Strt -
I believe you just wrote out the list of un-winterfied units. I recently stumbled across an early winter UC tucked away on one of the more obscure sites, but when I just checked the dl gave me an empty Folder. If i find it again I'll let you (& Kump) know where it is. If you find this stuff please post it's location also. Strt

It does seem to have worked, thanks for the replies. I haven't been able to figure out how to use this thing to get my ConEd bill payed on time, but if it could delay CMBB for a few days... Strt

I'm not a CC kinda' guy (can't get away with that much longer) but my bank card is some MasterCard Debit jobbie. Will it work? For pre-ordering fine Tactical Wargame Sims from small, dedicated Software Developers, I mean. Last time I sent a MO, which was okey-dokey because I just missed the first Sellout & had to wait anyway. This time I would like to get one off the first pile, & I'm trying to finally figure out how these geegaws operate. Thanks Strt

I'm under the impression that there are more than one set of .BMPs for at least some Vehicles, but they are for different time periods. Same w/ Unis. Wouldn't mind being wrong. Strt

Halftrack .bmp's (M3A1)
mchlstrt replied to Peter Panzer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I am very much under the impression that the same .bmp is displayed on the Track & wheel Tread of that halftrack. Don't have the #. Someone did an addon in a Mod pack specifically to make that look more right/ less wrong, maybe a Winter Mod, IIRC. Don't have that info right now either. Hope that's some help. Strt -
tracer Find 'Mods & Modders'. If you find member 'pawbroon' the address will be in his sig. Good 'howto's'. I have a 'greyscale' I did so you can tell how 'Black' your 'Black' is. Can be a prob as I found out. Nowhere to post it but I'll send it if you want it. A member 'voidhawk' did a set of colored, numbered .bmp's to help IDing for Mods. They're posted, tho I forget where. He probably didn't. There was a partial .bmp list floating around but I don't know where THAT is either. You can check other Mods for .bmp lists. A couple'o'tips, check 'look' of your Mod against others, & use Layers from the gitgo. Hope some of this helps, & good luck. Strt

One thing I could see which might be fairish, useful & realistically doable would be if BXX could automatically prioritize by Member #. That way 'Oltimrz' would tend to get their copy sooner, & BXX would tend to get more useful feedback sooner. Any bets on how long after release the first 'Fix. Or do sumfink' post pops up? Strt

Three King Tigers in winter (mod preview) UPDATED
mchlstrt replied to Gordon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
He's busy. He's out getting a Mac so he can do CMMOS for folks who would appreciate him. And a Book on Mac Coding. And a Program to Code with. And a......well, maybe he's not. Strt -
The Hands are part of the Sleeve .bmp. That's why you get all kinds of different Hand colors with different Uni mods, & none of them match the Face mod you're using. My two wishes for BB (besides what I already know we got) are seperate Hand .bmp's & also a Collar polygon, which I believe would have the greatest effect on the Human/ Wooden Soldier Look Ratio, or HWSLR (pronounced HWSLR), for the resources expended. Strt

Do any of you folks who actually know something about Code have an opinion concerning wether MAC CMBB using .BMPs will make CMMOS MAC more likely? DKNBVNS? As I've said before, not having CMMOS is one of the few regrets I have being a MACMAN. Strt

I've had problems w/ the same Mods from Tom's site. Mac/DSL/thru a Router. Downloads an undersized .zip (79k for all of them IIRC) which is corrupted. I never tried to install them, so I'm not sure. It's only some Files from his Site, mainly Axis Vehicles. Went around the corner to a friend's Mac/Dialup & they DL'd just fine. I've e-mailed him describing it, but I had no other info to give him. Maybe your case could give him a useful trend to mull over, if it's pretty similar to mine. Strt

CM Outpost --> CMBO German MOD Catalogue
mchlstrt replied to kump's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
The Faces are my tweak-up of MD's set. They are available on Tom's site. Thanks for noticing. Strt
