  1. Keeps Grenades out, I believe. (screen @ Firing Slit, that is.) Strt [ October 01, 2002, 10:51 AM: Message edited by: mchlstrt ]
  2. & if you're are a Winduhs guy the one advantage you have is CMMOS. I'd suggest using it from the beginning. I think there's a CMMOS section. Strt
  3. The BO Demo Shouldn't be able to play any other Scenarios, what are you trying to play? Also, the price of BO has come down now, if that's an issue w/ your Dad. Strt
  4. I'll try to check it for you when I get back to my other Cptr, but I think something doesn't add up w/ your info. In some other Thread I can't seem to find right now Kwazydog or someone said that the offsets were as above, which means the #s you have should be grey, if they're the right ones, & the yellow should be the same # w/ a '1' on the front. Do you have BXX or CDV version. Maybe they're different. Again, I'll try to check my BXX copy later & see what I find. Strt
  5. Yeah, I wasn't thinking host 'em. Tou might even want to put 'All done, come & get 'em' type announcements in the Main Forum. Or have some convention like '!NM!' to flag it for people who just want to keep up with new stuff that's available. Strt
  6. I was under the impression, for no particularly good reason, that CM used 16 bit color, so that's what I work in. So are you guys saying I'm right or wrong or don't know? Thanks Strt
  7. Ah, here I am. Some units do use different .BMPs for each arm, & some probably don't, like BO. As to which .BMPs might be shared by what, I imagine a few people are trying to sort that out now. I poked around in the Volkssturm because I'd done a Mod for BO & it was a little confusing, with one Crew arm shared by Panzershek-armed infantry & so forth. I started on a Tank, myself. Look for a Theard Dorosh started, I think they're working on this stuff in there. Aha, it's the 'List of .BMP #s for German Infantry', oddly enough. 8. Since it's not my area, I just lurk through the Scenario Forum now & then for the occasional new Scenario or interesting Discussion. I was wondering whether you ScenarioGrog types thought it was a Good Thing & helped the art along. Strt
  9. One of my little Dreams is being able to post a Topic about 'Lighten vs Color Dodge' or some other ModGrog subject & have it stick around long enough that some useful discussion might ensue. Right now the more practical 'what .BMP #' type Threads are fighting for their life within an hour or two. A seperate Mod Forum would probably be best partly because it would be slower & more relaxed, & people who are Modders but not neccesarily big Posters wouldn't feel as much like any Thread they didn't catch in the first 10 minutes is already dead. Strt
  10. Good idea. Some more chat on the BO vs BB Mod & Scenario (Hey, we could do this all in one Forum!) sorting would probably be helpful. I'm wondering how Sites are going to handle this. I'm already mildly confused by what's out there now, & I'm not a Noob. Strt
  11. Wondering what the Original Inhabitants of this Thread thought of the idea? Consolidation & Comraderie or Crowding & Confusion? Strt
  12. I'm trying to DL the VeryLow & I seem to be getting sent to a page of Code. Nice Pics, though. I did successfully DL some stuff yesterday (or the day before?). Thanks Strt
  13. So I get The Game & immediately start poking around in the.BMP Folder & trying this & that & when I wake up I seem to be well into doing the T-26 series from scratch for some strange reason. Then it occurs to me that if two other people are half way through this already it might not be the best use of whatever time & talent I might have. I kind of assume there are Folks with lots of good German & Lend-lease stuff they're switching over. Just wondering. Plus I'm now firmly in favor of a Mod Forum. I may have mentioned that already. Yeah, I did. Strt
  14. I'm more & more convinced this would be A Really Good Idea. I know the BXX crew is even busier than they thought they'd be right now, I just thought I'd keep the idea out there. Strt
  15. IIRC the offset for Dunklegelb is 10,000, Winter is 50,00(?). So 8XXX should be Grey, & the yellow should be 18,XXX. I may be misrememberating this. The CM engine is known not to handle dark colors real well. If you look at Mods by the guys that really know what they're doing you see lots of medium & light shades & when it gets dark it does so quickly & simply. It also seems to me that the CM engine has to resample .BMPs for it's own purposes & a lot of subtleties in things like shading & weathering can get lost or worse. My 'Grimy JT' is a good example of these problems, unfortunately ( a darn tasteful one though, if I do say so myself). Look at it in-game then look at the .BMPs themselves. Then there's different vidcards, monitors, resolutions, blah, blah, blah, & who knows what that might mean. I'm sure what we're seeing up top isn't exactly what you're looking at on your screen when you're working on it. Hope this is helpful & not, er, the opposite. Strt
  16. There was something about this in another Thread in the last day or so & Tom said they were shuffling things around at his new Host Site. He wasn't sure how long it might be. Strt
  17. Good question, I've wondered that myself. I don't know how one could 'handicap' this Game. Sounds like you're in that vague 'nowhere near a beginner but nowhere near the top of any Ladders' area like most of us. Don't guess that narrows it down just a whole lot. Strt
  18. I've had similar (Scenario Guilt, not hugging anybody) thoughts. I'm not a ScenD'er, so "Uh, I think I liked that one. Is that the right answer?" is about the best I can come up with. 'Third time Side switching Replayabilty vs Foreign PBEM Opponent' is way over my head. Plus I know giving xtra points for 'Effort' kind of defeats the purpose. I really do (quietly) appreciate you folks' work, & wish I could be more helpful, for whatever that's worth. Thanks Strt
  19. On the JT model, one of the Periscope Hoody Thingies is in the wrong place. Probably got bumped by accident before the glue was dry. & they took off the box poly on the rear, though the added polys are very nice. Pickety Modder stuff. Strt
  20. If you can order it online you can have it sent to me in the US & I'll send it on USPS. I believe it takes around 5-15 USD & about a week. E-mail if so. Strt mchlstrt@hotmail.com
  21. Tom, FWIW, the other day I hit your link & it crashed my cmptr, twice. Today I was able to get in & dl the New Stuff, though every step was reeeeeeal slow. No complaint, just info. Could have everything to do w/ me being in US. Also, is this now a free, full featured Site for you? I'd be happy to chip in now & then if it would help. Not charity, just a recognition that your Site is Good & Useful, & you're already spending your time. Strt
