  1. I have thoroughly enjoyed the two demo scenarios of CMAK - it's nice to get back to the western theater (no offense to our Russian comrades). I couldn't help but noticing though, that when a US rifle squad is selected, the "rifle grenade" icons look just a little too "phallic." Is it just me or did anyone else notice this? Perhaps one of the graphics designers had just finished looking at a Victoria's Secret catalog when they built the rifle grenade icon. Again, great game - can't wait to get it.
  2. - BUMP - I was just trying to find some good winter mods on CMMODS, and it appears there are NO T-34 winter mods! (Or, am I missing something?) Winter is fast approaching here in the northeast US, so I wanted to get in the mood.
  3. How many others have a TON of games that just sit and collect dust (like myself)? Out of roughly 30 games, I play these four consistently: - CMBB - CMBO - Medieval: Total War - Medal of Honor, Allied Assault I used to be a huge flight sim fanatic, and I have the latest and greatest (e.g. FS2002, IL-2, etc); but I now find them very boring!
  4. Hi All, I'd appreciate some some quick thoughts (i.e. a listing) of your "Top 3" PBEM scenarios and/or operations for CMBB. I'm just getting used to the game, and it would be helpful to know what the best PBEM stuff is! Thanks in advance!
  5. Bump (again) Drooling over the prospect of a comprehensive sound pack mod for CMBB....
  6. * Frustration sets in * Has anyone discovered a fix or tweak for the Catalyst Drivers later than v 2.2? The newer drivers work great with all my games...except Combat Mission...which is of course my favorite! I will have to bite the bullet soon and revert to the older drivers I guess....
  7. On a positive note though, the 3.0 drivers are great for other games that are action-oriented. Such a dilemma...
  8. Yup - unfortunately, I think they have the same problems. I installed the 3.0 drivers yesterday (Radeon 7200), and the same color/graphic anomalies exist.
  9. I'd like to draw your attention to a new CMBO scenario called Retreat to Koblenz, which was created by Strontium Dog (who, by the way, is also an outstanding mod-maker). I helped him with the PBEM playtesting, and I found it to be an outstanding scenario. Check it out - I think you PBEM'ers will enjoy it! It is at the CMBO scenario depot: http://ns9.super-hosts.com/~dragonlair.net/combatmission/
  10. I'm in the middle of playing Strontium Dog's scenario that he references, and it is excellent! He and I were pondering the historical accuracy of using 8" artillery as part of a "hasty" attack by a company-size combined arms force. I had wondered if a couple 81mm mortar spotters would be more historically accurate. (But - the 8" stuff is a lot of fun to use, and it makes a big mess!)
  11. I definitely will buy CMBB in the future, but I'm in no rush. I just started PBEM with CMBO, and it has breathed new life into that game for me.
  12. For those of us poor souls with lower-end machines, which tweaks have the most noticeable effect on performance? I'm still fiddling...trying to find the optimal balance. (BTW - I have a P3 500 w/ATI Radeon)
  13. Thanks for the posts guys. I think I'll go ahead and buy it - sounds like with some tweaking I can get it to run as smooth as CMBO. If not, then I guess it's just the excuse I need to dip into the rainy day money to buy a shiny new PC.
  14. Hi Seimer, My video card is the first-generation ATI Radeon with 64MB of RAM (not sure of the model number). Also, I've got 256MB of system memory. Thanks for the response!!
  15. Just curious what the performance is like on a low-end machine (like mine). I've tried the demo, and the graphics are a little choppy, but not terrible. I'm wondering if the "real" game is better optimized. Has anyone tried it on a weak machine?
