  1. Nope The combat morale bonus is derived from an HQ's experience, so whenever an HQ is reinforced it will lose some experience and thus this will translate into a lower combat morale bonus from the parent HQ. Hope that helps, Hubert
  2. Well said and with that I am going to lock this one up. Hubert
  3. Sorry guys, this was missed in the manual. HQ supply levels are as follows: supply = 0 -> HQ supply = 5 supply <= 5 -> HQ Supply = 8 supply > 5 -> HQ supply = 10 Then subsequent units will feed their supply off of either the HQ supply value or a city supply value, whichever is greater. Hope that helps, Hubert
  4. To answer the original question, there is a typo in the manual, it should read a max level of 4 not 10. As for the rest of this thread.... COOL OFF GUYS! Hubert
  5. Actually this makes sense, seems as this could also be causing problems, thanks for the tip! Hubert
  6. Thanks everyone for their responses, I think we've got enough players for now to have an interesting test group. I'll keep everyone posted as to the results which will probably be in a week or so. Hubert
  7. If you completely cutoff the unit in that city, take a look at the hex control markers this will not happen. Keep in mind though that at the end of each turn, adjacent enemy hexes to a city or resource that are not occupied by one of your units will have control returned to the owner of the city or resource, so cuting off a unit in a city may have to be a couple of hexes deep to have the full effect. Hope this helps, Hubert
  8. Message for Johan, received your request to join the challenge a few days ago, but my replies to your inbox have been consistently returned as "Exceeded Quota" etc., please contact me again and hopefully we can still get you in there for a game or two. Hubert
  9. OK you're right, just tried it, I am sending this over to Battlefront to see if they can fix it. Thanks! Hubert
  10. Hi Guys, Just to be on the safe side, try deleting the PBEM and SAVE folders completely, make sure you are both running v1.04 and try using Winzip if you feel the PBEM files are being stripped by your ISP, i.e. the PBEM files should at least be > 300K. If when you send and receive normally they are still at that size then Winzip is not necessary. If the PBEM files load but crash during PBEM replay then please use the temporary 'replay fix' found at: http://www.furysoftware.com/download/sc.zip This zipped file will have to be extracted to your SC installation folder and the time stamp should be September 10th, 2002 7:45 PM for the 'SC.exe' file if extracted properly. If after all this it still doesn't work, please send me the PBEM file that seems to be causing the problem at support@furysoftware.com and I'll take a look. Hubert
  11. The music may play until it reaches it's end buffer point but should stop at that point so long as the SC window is minimized. Just thinking aloud here, it may still play if minimized but selected in the Taskbar on some systems, in this case selecting another window in the Taskbar should do the trick. Hubert
  12. Same answer as always, when it's ready Hubert
  13. There is a temporary fix for this available for download at: http://www.furysoftware.com/download/sc.zip Just extract it into your installation folder if you or anyone else has experienced this problem. It may replay the turn a bit funny, but unit positions will appear properly when you start your turn. This fix will be included with the next patch. Hubert
  14. Oops, my mistake, I would say FoW and with 'Undo' disabled would make for the best test. Thanks! Hubert P.S. Still have some openings, anyone else up for the challenge?
  15. Send me the autosave turn that causes the freezeup, and a description on how I may reproduce it if possible. Send to support@furysoftware.com Hubert
  16. OK with the ongoing debate in terms of game balance, I would like to propose an Axis vs. Allied PBEM challenge for any of you willing to put your bravery and skill on the line Just for the record, I will once again state that I am currently OK with the present game setup and that includes research model etc., but in order to get a better idea if I am off my rocker or not, let's have at it. I suggest that all consistent Axis winners and all consistent Allied winners contact me and I'll setup the challenges so I can keep track of the results. I will take the first 10 Axis players and first 10 Allied players for the test. I am thinking 1939 Campaign with all default options and 2 out of 3 for each set should give a decent result. With any proposed changes not being seriously considered until after TCP/IP I think it will be an interesting test. Any takers? Contact me at hcater@furysoftware.com and state your side Hubert [ September 13, 2002, 10:43 AM: Message edited by: Hubert Cater ]
  17. I agree actually and about 99% percent of the suggestions are in the back of my mind for an SC2. I am really only considering about 1 or 2 changes that may balance out things a bit for the game but not wholesale changes together. As I just posted above, I am considering a few things for the research area, again stating that I presently do not have any serious issues with it, but if after the TCP/IP patch it looks like it still needs a tweak or two, I will seriously consider it. Hubert
  18. I believe we are in the same camp here I actually see this the same way, and this was exactly the design intent. However if there does seem to be a percieved PBEM imbalance, this should be addressed. Problem for me is that I like you have not ever had a problem winning as the Allies, so I'm equally tempted to leave well enough alone, yet if it does need a slight adjustment that improves game play I am willing to consider it, so long as it does not through the game for a loop as you and USGrant justifiably fear. Since I am still working on TCP/IP and not seriously considering any of the proposed changes until after that patch, how about a challenge between the consistent Axis winners versus the consistent Allied winners to get a better handle on things. I believe Jollyguy (playing as Axis) was interested in challenging me as Allies, perhaps the two of you can play it out for a few games? Agreed, and this is the tricky part I mentioned to USGrant above that seriously needs to be considered before any final changes are made. Hubert
  19. All part of the plan This is part of the Allied minor relationship although the idea that the liberator controls the country does have some merit. Hubert
  20. Actually you are no longer required to defeat the US for an Axis victory, I believe interim vicory conditions were introduce in patch v1.02 or was it v1.03? I can't remember. But I think the option to have the US sue for peace is a viable one, let's say after the European Theater part has been concluded with at least the UK, USSR and French surrender. How about the US sues for peace, if you accept game is over with your victory, or you can reject and invade anyways. I like Bill's idea for more specific victory conditions based on the current game stats etc., something to definitly think about as well. Hubert
