  1. In a perfect world, one shot would equal one kill. But of course, the world is not perfect. **** happens.
  2. This is, to its undying credit, a very complex game. And while there may be no game with a better manual, there ARE definitely game manuals with better indexes (indeces, or whatever the plural is). Not wanting to start a holy war, it's just the way that it is. (And yes, I have d/l'd the index provided here, but I still can't always find what I want.) I did find the bit about spotters with radios vs. telephones, but it didn't categorically say that those with telephones couldn't embark. Reading again it is kind of implicit, but I think possible to brush over without realising. As for the autosave bit, I honestly can't find it. EDIT: Actually, it does....later on in the Ostfront chapter. Last comment in the Artillery section. Not wanting to press the issue, but a good example of how things can ellude you in the minute detail of this game and navigating the manual. That's not so much a complaint as it is a statement of fact. Kind of like grappling with Photoshop. The enormity can be daunting, but the results are worth it. </font>
  3. If it is not a radio spotter they cannot embark. I think this is because they use telephones which are attached by, obviously, telephone cable to their battery in the rear. They have to lay the cable where ever they go. I believe this should be in your manual. EDIT: actually, all of this should be in the manual. You should consult it. There is no other game with a better manual, so take advantage. And if you don't have a manual, then, well... [ May 10, 2003, 07:30 PM: Message edited by: V ]
  4. I agree about the Cemetery battle mentioned above, its a good one. Eberswalde Last Stand is also a good one. I've played so many that it is hard to remember the names, but I always review every scenario I play that is listed at the depot. the 5ss PzG Wiking scenario is also good for AI play. Ghetto Uprising, I thought, was a good PBEM battle.
  5. Is it just me, or are these guys lost in each others eyes? I guess the loneliness of the campaign will do that to some guys. from gautrek's Dusty Panzerjager 1 mod from CMMODS.com great mod, BTW.
  6. I am playing the Boots N Tracks Operation "The Begining of the End" in a PBEM. I like Operation if they are well designed. Use the depot and its excellent review feature.
  7. Start with this scenario then move on. I found most of the battles by this designer very well made, though I have not played them all. But I believe all of them are on the Winter War, which is not really covered by CMBB, but they play just fine. http://ns9.super-hosts.com/~dragonlair.net/combatmission//CMBBscenarioreview03.php?UniqueID=127&Name=Making+Motti
  8. I think this is addressed in the newbie FAQ. If not, it most certainly should.
  9. What date is it set for? Won't get any Panzer V's in 1941, for example.
  10. That might not help too much if the AT guns are 300 meters away. The infantry will just be caught in the open. Plus, the squad of infantry can be mangled and broken if the AT rounds lands where they are riding. Its happened to me many times. Of course, this is all highly subjective. It depends on the situation and the scenario.
  11. I have come to believe that Jason C does not exist outside of this forum. I tend to think that he is a manifestation of BFC. A computer program which spits out strategy based on millions of documented resources... </font>

  13. Use halftracks ahead of your armor. Use smoke. It depends from scenario to scenario.
  14. The North African aspect of CMAK does not excite nearly as much as the Italain Campaign. I have never had much interest in the African campaign, though I must say I am very interested to see how it plays out in CM. But Italy... man, thats going to be great...
  15. Certainly, I have a few pictures of Tigers in North Africa...
  16. I used to play CMBO TCP/IP with my brother who lives across the country all the time. Those were good times. He has CMBB now, but he doesn't have the time any more.
  17. I have them saved in .txt files. I have them loaded in the right order and I am saving the scenario afterwards. Also I am saving them in the correct scenario. But when I then move to play the game to make sure they are there, the general briefing is not showing up. What am I doing wrong?
  18. Thanks Michael and Schroener... I've only had one semester of German thus far, so I'm still working on those things...
  19. I would also like to confirm what a previous poster stated about the Totenkopfverbande-SS using Hiwi's (usually Ukrainians) to work as guards in the concentration camps.
  20. The concentration camp system was ran by what was called the SS-Totenkopfverbande. (translated: SS Death's Head Formations) Their motto was "Meine Ehre Heist Freue" (My Honor's name is Loyalty) I would imagine that they would use the same ranking system that the Allgemeine SS would use, though I am not sure about that. Here is a list of some SS which served in Auschwitz and their fates... http://www.skalman.nu/third-reich/ss-camp-auschwitz.htm The Allgemeine-SS was the political branch of the SS. They ran the secret police, handled racial matters, etc. The SS-Totenkopfverbande ran the concentration camp system and the Waffen-SS was the armed wing of the SS, this made up the more famous fighting divisions of the German army, such as the Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler, Das Reich, Totenkopf, Wiking, etc... http://www.foothill.net/~yergen/about-ss.html http://www.clam.rutgers.edu/~fmaloney/holoc.html
  21. I downloaded and played a SL conversion from www.wargamer.com called 'Dangerous Information' It is very small and can be played in under an hour. I thought it was well done.
