2.
quote:
Originally posted by Mattias: The Germans certainly used "enough" captured Soviet trucks and cars to warrant inclusion based purely on numerical considerations. But, as Steve has pointed out above, from there to actually seeing it in CM is something that takes more than just numbers. The "truck" representing this type of vehicle in CM:BO for example is just one of dozens of models deployed by the different warring nations back then. Adding special truck models just because they were captured seems a bit over the top, unless they had radically different capabilities perhaps. M. P.S. Just a number from Spielbergers book on the use of captured vehicles in the German forces: On the 1st of January 1943 it was reported that 1.2 million motor vehicles were in use, They were of around 2200 different models and approximately half of them were of non German origin.

Good point about the trucks, i agree, but will the Axis be able to use 47mm and 76mm anti tank guns? Or if this can not be modeled will their own tank guns price at least be lowered to show the surplus of captured field guns?

 4. I remember reading in the past about mass amounts of Soviet field guns being captured by the Axis forces in the opening stages of Barbarossa. Everything from 47mm anti tank guns to heavy artillery was captured and used against the Soviets. I have a question, the majority of the Axis forces, contrary to propaganda film, invaded the SovetUnion not with a completly mechanized force, but mostly with horses pulling thier guns. I assume the Axis captured plent of Soviet trucks, but did they use them?, and will they be modelled? Because of they used them, then it would with out a doubt have to be over 30.

 6. I can't beleive it, Joe actualy thought of something funny. (the thread title)
 7. Sounds like fun, let me know if another spot opens up.
 8. Are the PanzerII Ausf D's going to be modeled? Officially the Panzer Selbstfahrlafette 1 für 7.62cm PaK36® auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf D1 und D2 (Sd Kfz 132), it represented the first German attempt to mount the excellent Soviet 76.2mm anti-tank gun in a self-propelled mounting. The hull and superstructure was unchanged from the Alkett LaS chassis designed to be the Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf D, E, and Flamm. A total of 201 of these vehicles were produced and were supplied to Panzer and Panzergrenadier divisions from 1942 onwards. They were only intended as a stopgap measure, as their superstructure was very high (making them a prominent target). They were gradually phased out in 1944 having served their intended purpose admirably.

 10. You guys need to hire Bill Shatner for voices! I think Star Trek is pathetic but that guy cracks me up. Those priceline.com commercials were funny as hell.
 11. You mean that movies are........fake and make beleive!? Say it ain't so!! hehe
 12. Thats ok i can live with that. I was just wondering.
 13. Will more then two people be able to play CMBB against each other online? It would be cool having one person play as the Romanians, another as the Germans, and another as the Soviets. I think it would be fun anyway. Just a though.
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by c3k: Guys, Thanks for responding. Again, my emphasis is NOT on weld quality or other (arguably) cosmetic items. Ken

Welds are hardly cosmetic....what do you think holds everything together? If a weld breaks, the peice of metal is is holding is going to have to go somewhere right? And as far as what corners were cut in the production of the Soviet tanks the answer is simple.....all of them. Even with corners cut is a 37mm gun going to penetrate the frontal armor of a t-34 at 800m? Nope. Even with the Soviet Tanks quaility severly lacking....the number of them on the battlefield will not be. Sure the Tiger is an excelent example of good craftmanship, but thats one of the reasons only a few thousand were produced. Russian tanks were thrown together much like the Sherman...very simple design to convert into mass production. The Tiger had it's parts machined all over the place. Very good craftsmanship, but also very time consuming. Another main reason for the germans lagging behind som much in prduction with the Soviets was that Albert Spier did not set the german economy to a war time economy until 1943. Should have been done pre- Barbarossa. Luckily it was not implemented at that point in time. Also are females going ot be modeled in the game in soviet tank crews? Many women fought for the Soviets in the Second Wolrd War.
 15. Interesting, did the Soviets in turn ever use any captured gemran equipment? I assume of course they did, but what i mean is in numbers sufficient enough to be included in CMBB.

 17. Are you sure? That seems like a rather small number, i'm not saying your wrong, but did more then one reference say that?

 19. During WWII (1939-1945) in the German army Soviet KV tanks had been seized in fights were applied. They were given the index of Pz. Kpfw.753 ®. Basically trophy KV tanks were used in the German army without modernization. Small amount of KV tanks were equipped with German command turrets I know BTS is including captured T-34's, but there has been no talk of captured KV tanks in use with the german army.

 21. Ok this forum can't be that devoid of topic where when an over done 12 page flamethrower thread is locked and the same day a "new" old topic is re created.........
 22. The quality on the T-34's/Kv's was quite simply awful. Especialy after they had to relocate some of their factories. The Soviet production standard was just that, production. Take a look at some pictures and you'll see the hurried welding jobs. The tanks welding was gruesome, but the Soviets did not have the luxury of time with what looked to be a defeat of their nation.
 23. Next time i'll scroll down more before posting....i have the best timing....

Yes the realism is wonderfull, I am a huge World War II enthusiast meself, and I love researching the war. But SHUT THE HELL UP!! It is a game! Did ASL calculate every god damned little thing?! I can imagine it now: "NO NO! Your tank was 100.5464 meters away, and the random number system calculated a richochet, JESESUS THATs Bullsh*t!! THIS BOARDGAME ISNT MODELLED PROPERLY!!" Listen who ever you are Cough*GUNNYBUNNY* Cough!!, if you hate this game so god damned much...yes thats right its a game wow!! For gods sakes, do you expect every little inch of detail to be modeled!? There are alot of things missing, yet this game is great and if you cant appreciate all of the work the boys at BTS put into then then GO PLAY MONOPOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, thats my two cents --Niles

HAHA! My thoughts exactly. I don't understand how so many people can be so anal about such a good game. If your that anal about the game go back to playing panzer general like you did for all those years. If you manage to play that game for any longer then a day, then you need to ask youself why you are bitching about the possibility the panthers gacis could be off by a 1/10 of a millemeter.
 25. I've only used a panther once, in my first time ever plaing in game against a friend. I lost it because of my own blunder. But i have to say that i have never used a panther since. Alot of the posts have made me come to the conclusion that their just not worth the points. More people should use flat maps or gentle sloped maps, after all the battles did not take place in the alps.
